Really the more I think about it I'm feeling this wall<br>piece was a turn of the century something else and at some point mid 20th<br>century someone decided these guys would look cooler on it than the cross or<br>whatever was on it before did. Vintage Alabaster Pietra Dura Natural Stone Mosaic Trinket box. 3.25" x 2.25" x 1.5" no damage. circa mid 20th century. tw190 Pietra dura (Italian: [ˈpjɛːtra ˈduːra]) or pietre dure [ˈpjɛːtre ˈduːre] (see below), called parchin kari or parchinkari (Persian: پرچین کاری) in the Indian Subcontinent, is a term for the inlay technique of using cut and fitted, highly polished colored stones to create images. It is considered a decorative art. The stonework, after the work is assembled loosely, is glued stone-by-stone to a substrate after having previously been "sliced and cut in different shape sections; and then assembled together so precisely that the contact between each section was practically invisible". Stability was achieved by grooving the undersides of the stones so that they interlocked, rather like a jigsaw puzzle, with everything held tautly in place by an encircling 'frame'. Many different colored stones, particularly marbles, were used, along with semiprecious, and even precious stones. It first appeared in Rome in the 16th century, reaching its full maturity in Florence. Pietra dura items are generally crafted on green, white or black marble base stones. Typically, the resulting panel is completely flat, but some examples where the image is in low relief were made, taking the work more into the area of hardstone carving. TW187

Vintage New England Telephone and Telegraph company gold filled pin. 1 1/8"<br>wide, great condition, first half of 20th century.<br><br>Right after the turn of the century the blue bell paperweights made their debut<br>within the Bell System appearing on employee's desk. It is believed Fenton Glass<br>Co. manufactured these paperweight starting around 1910 until 1930. The<br>individual companies within the bell system ordered these paperweights with<br>their names in white stencling on the front and Local & Long Distance Telephone<br>on the back side. However there several exceptions to this, two of them being<br>Mountain States Telephone and Western Electric Company. At 23, Carlos worked in Ecuador for a few<br>years making chalices for the Catholic church and hollowware for the Embassy. Vintage Carlos Eagle Native American Sterling Cobblestone Necklace
Nice vintage adjustable drop necklace with no significant issues. Up to 20" long, center drop pendant is 1.5" long. 42.5 grams. Carlos’ career as a jeweler began in the 1970’s, inspired by his mother, who was an artist of Ottawa/ Chippewa descent. He is completely self-taught. Unlike many jewelers, he is both a lapidary and a silversmith, and fabricates all of his jewelry by himself. Nothing is cast or manufactured. He is an Elder in the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians, but also considers himself part of God’s Universal Family. His greatest pride comes from his work with animals and caring for the land. “I am doubly blessed. I have been able to pursue my passion for art as a career which has enabled me to live the life I have dreamed of. No one could ask for more.” Carlos Passed away in August 2021.
