Antique English Cameo glass cup and saucer with butterfly/Chinoisiere decoration. Late 19th to very early 20th century, unmarked. Saucer is 4 7/8" wide, cup 3.25" wide. No damage or restorations.Cameo glass is a luxury form of glass art produced by cameo glass engraving or etching and carving through fused layers of differently colored glass to produce designs, usually with white opaque glass figures and motifs on a dark-colored background. The technique is first seen in ancient Roman art of about 30 BC, where it was an alternative to the more luxurious engraved gem vessels in cameo style that used naturally layered semi-precious gemstones such as onyx and agate. Glass allowed consistent and predictable colored layers, even for round objects.isshelf

Really nice early 1800's to 1860's compote set. I believe the Brown leaves on the rim are transfer printed, but am positive the flowers in the centers are hand painted. Every piece has slight variations some even have different colored roses in the same spots. The plates were made on a potters wheel. The Compote and plates are 9" wide x 2.5" tall, no cracks, chips, or restorations on any of the 5 pieces there is minor gold wear on the compote, very minor utensil marks here and there on all pieces, extremely light stains on the front and back of one plate. This is a really clean set and very early.

It's painted on a wood panel with hand champhered<br>edges. Slight bend in panel, with some very slight splits, towards the top of<br>the painting there is some old varnish spots in the cloud area that could easily<br>be cleaned by someone that knew what they were doing. I don't see them as much<br>of a distraction myself. Antique French pewter Sustenteur Medical Apothecary Jars for Sterilization both<br>6" tall x 5" wide. Both guaranteed 19th century.<br>I have found that this style of jar, called Sustenteur, was popular in France in<br>the late 18th century, and were created as a piece of medical equipment to help<br>heal stomach problems. They work as pressure cookers and they were used to<br>prepare either meat or vegetable broths, which were cooked in a hermetically<br>sealed pot for hours in a water bath, thus providing a germ-free broth for<br>people with delicate stomachs. There are three holes at the base of the pot.<br>When oxygen would escape form the boiling water, it made bubbles, and the holes<br>allowed the bubbles to escape, so the pot would not tip over. The handle at the<br>top of the pewter cap allowed the pot to be easily removed from the water bath<br>and carried. Given that they are air-tight, these sustenteurs were also used as<br>tobacco jars, tea caddies, or coffee containers.<br>Tw31

Antique Hand Carved Jointed Artists Model Doll. This is from the Estate of<br>Milton Simpson, author of several books and publications of Folk a. He was the<br>graphic designer who discovered the Woodbridge figures collection in New Jersey.<br>Not the construction worker that found them but the person who purchased them<br>all from a local pawn shop and recognized their importance. There is a very high<br>probability this piece is published in one or more of his books/publications.<br>20" tall and Jointed everywhere, all the joints are functional, some a little<br>loose as this is about 100 years old. It is standing unassisted in two of the<br>pics but might not be the best idea unless held with "museum wax" or something<br>similar. tw106<br><br>Milton Simpson (1911-2023)<br>Milton – also known by his friends and acquaintances as Milt - was born and<br>raised in Brooklyn, New York City and raised his family in Millburn, New Jersey.<br>He attended the New York School of Industrial Art (SIA), now the School of Art<br>and Design. He then worked for Incorporated Ideas Advertising Agency in New<br>Jersey before joining the United States Army, serving in Korea.<br>After his discharge from the Army, Milt attended The Workshop School of<br>Advertising & Editorial Art. Upon completion of his studies there, he became the<br>Art Director of The American Baby Magazine in New York, Assistant Art Director<br>at Lewin, Williams & Saylor in New Jersey, and then Art Director of Kenyon-Baker<br>Advertising & Baker Printing Company, (both of which were under one roof) in New<br>Jersey. (He left there because the promised air conditioner was never<br>installed!)<br>He then worked as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator for several<br>years.<br>In 1964, he and business partner Don Johnson founded the firm of Johnson &<br>Simpson Graphic Designers with Milt as president. They were based in a townhouse<br>in beautiful downtown Newark, New Jersey and specialized in corporate<br>communications. The design projects they took in included annual reports,<br>corporate magazines, capability brochures, posters, museum catalogs, trademarks<br>and books. Their clients included Conoco, Johnson & Johnson, New Jersey Bell,<br>Hoffmann-La Roche, The Newark Museum and Singer Corporation.<br>The firm was featured in every major design publication, was recognized by over<br>350 graphic design awards and he and Don were inducted into the New Jersey Ad<br>Club's Advertising Hall of Fame in 1991.<br>Milt also served on the Advisory Board of The Greater Newark Chamber of Commerce<br>and was an Adjunct Professor (Publication Design) at Montclair State College.<br>The New Jersey Art Directors Club voted Milt Art Director of the Year in 1972.<br>Books were his passion. He couldn't seem to get them out of his system and<br>didn't try to. For many years he produced and self-published a series of<br>Artists' Books using several print-on-demand platforms. Milt was always a<br>student and appreciator of quirky, eccentric and irrational human behavior.<br>These Artists' Books were very much influenced by his observations and<br>obsessions.<br>Among many others too numerous to mention, he wrote "Windmill Weights; which was<br>self-published and "Folk a" published by HarperCollins.

Antique Hand Painted Limoges Lamp w/Neoclassical Woman Playing Lyre. Really nice<br>lamp with no damage in working condition. It's been rewired but the brass base<br>is early 20th century. By the Shape of the porcelain vase I think it may have<br>always been a lamp but have no way of knowing for sure. I did once see a very<br>similar shape in an oil lamp bring close to $2000 at auction, so maybe it was<br>once an oil lamp. I can't find a mark but the quality is unmistakably Limoges<br>French porcelain from the late 19th to early 20th century. Measures 19.5" to top<br>of socket where bulb goes, 27" to the top of the loop (not shown) where the<br>shade will rest, and 14" to the bottom of the brass stem that goes up for the<br>socket.

Antique Hertwig Parian Ware Porcelain centerpiece with cherubs 10" wide x 9" tall. Late 19th to early 20th century with no issues.Porcelain factory Hertwig & Co. was established by Christoph Hertwig, Benjamin Beyermann and Carl Birkner. First they owned in Großbreitenbach a porcelain shop. Their application for a concession to start a porcelain factory in the town was rejected.Finally they got lucky in the principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt. In 1864 they started construction of a porcelain factory in Katzhütte. Porcelain items produced in Katzhütte were decorated in Großbreitenbach. Production included doll heads, pipe stubs and figurines.In 1868 Christoph Hertwig became the only owner of the factory. Rapidly developing factory around 1890 employed 300 workers at the site and 600 homeworkers. In 1911 they opened a branch in Meuselbach. WWI and World Economic Crises enforced reduction of product range to fine earthenware. In 1930s the company was already run by Ernst and Hans Hertwig, the sons of Karl and FriedrichAfter WWII the company was in communist East Germany. Ernst Friedrich Hertwig, the great-grandson of the company's founder, led the company until 1958. Two years later, the company was converted into a state-owned company, the VEB Zierkeramik Katzhütte. The product range was cut back to decoration ceramics only. In 1990 the factory was closed.

Overall with nice patina appearing to be an authentic helmet of some sort to me. Years of built up polish residue. I've had this for awhile but have a baby on the way very soon so I'm forced to make decisions about things I was unsure of, I'd be grateful for any info. It did come from a collection of worldwide weapons, armory, and many other interesting items.

Antique Ice Cream Mold Two Kissing Doves Lovebird Gold Plated and Framed about 5
Really special work of art. The note on the back indicates that the mold was from these peoples wedding then I guess the family turned it into art for their 50th anniversary. I assume they were gold plated at that time. That was 50+ years ago from the looks of the frame. Frame measures 12.25" x 10.5" x 1.75" deep. The mold measures 5 1/8" wide x 3.5" tall. b20
