I was actually thinking it was an eagle on top until it came to type the title/description...it's whatever you want it to be if it's yours.Wayne Wolf Robe Hunt, a full-blood Acoma Indian (1905-1977). Born on the Acoma Reservation, Wolf Robe was the son of Chief Day Break (Edward Proctor Hunt), Chief of the Delight Makers -- a man instrumental in the improvement of relations between the Acomas and whites. His mother, Morning Star, whose own father was Governor of Acoma seven times, was a potter and weaver. Wolf Robe learned silver-smithing from his older brother on the reservation. Wolf Robe achieved recovnition and fame for his jewelry and art work, winning the prestigious Philbrook Art Center's Grand Award in 1967. In addition, he was a businessman, with his own arts and crafts store in Tulsa, a lecturer, international traveller, author, and translator for the Bureau of American Ethnology. He assited L. A. White in his extensive studies of the Acoma Indians and made recordings for the National Anthropological Archives. Wolf Robe was particularly interested in the preservation of tribal customs, language and culture, and devoted his own time to this and the encouragement of others in similar efforts. Of his work at BAE he said, "My work there as an interpreter is the highlight of my efforts in trying to preseve all of the rich and wholesome lore of my people."* Not only was the preservation of the 'old ways' important to Wolf Robe, but also the representation and dissemination of his culture to whites, in an effort to promote their understanding and appreciation. Patania was seduced by the active art colony and healthy climate, and chose to remain in the Southwest even after his health improved. His work reflects both his European training and his exposure to Pueblo and Navajo jewelry.The legacy left by Frank Patania, Sr. came from the integration of two distinctly different traditions-one European, and the other Native American. On the one hand, Frank Sr. drew from a long history of Italian creative spirit, combining technical expertise and artistic imagination. He instilled in his family the Italian commitment to fine craftsmanship, as well as the Italian custom of family corporate bonding.This uniquely Italian tradition can be traced back as far as the Renaissance, and provides a structure in which each member of an artisan family has a job to perform that contributes to the family enterprise. This familial check and balance system has been a powerful asset to the Patania family's continued standard of excellence through the years. But Frank Sr.'s style was drastically transformed when he was introduced to the work of southwest Native American jewelers in the 1920s.His inspiration was multi-faceted; he began to work in a new medium-silver and turquoise-as well as in increased scale, and using new techniques. The successful marriage of these two disparate traditions has become the foundation upon which each generation has maintained the tradition of excellence in craftsmanship and design that has come to be known as the "Patania Thunderbird" style.

He<br>went to high school in Chinle, the town at the mouth of the legendary Canyon de<br>Chelly—a stronghold for 19th century Navajo, known then as the “Lords of the<br>Land”. Steeped in mythology, this landscape echoes the strength and beauty in<br>the Navajo bedrock of beliefs—foremost of those is responsibility to family and<br>clan. A husband, father, and grandfather, Tommy is also a world-renowned gold<br>and silversmith, his award-winning pieces on exhibit in museums and treasured in<br>collections around the world. As a premier Navajo Silversmith he counted amongst<br>those few known as “The Supersmiths.” Jackson started silversmithing in 1973,<br>learning at the bench of his parents, renowned silversmiths Gene and Martha<br>Jackson. Sz9.75 David Tune Navajo Creek Tufa Cast Sterling cobblestone masterpiece ring, with no issues. Solid sterling silver, weight and measurements in pics. David Tune David Tune, of Creek and Navajo descent, was born July 21,1955, in Winslow Arizona. He was raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Oklahoma. Davids motivation to create jewelry began in 1976, when he was commissioned to design the jewelry for the March of Dimes Poster Child and President Fords senate. David has been creating jewelry for over 16 years, as well as teaching High School for two of those years. In 1987, after winning countless awards, he was forced to resign himself from his art due to cancer. He was cured of his cancer by his uncle, and with pride and self-determination, returned in 1994 to his passion of creating beautiful pieces of jewelry. Like other excellent artists, the work of David Tunes work is distinctive and easily recognizable. Working primarily with sterling silver and gold, David uses multi-colors of coral, turquoise, lapis, sugilite, mother of pearl, opal, and various other materials in combination with his dramatic stamp work. His colorful and innovative inlays in his jewelry are inspired by the aerial views of the earth that he sees from hot-air ballooning and skydiving. His creations include rings, necklaces, bolos, bracelets, earrings, and concho belts. David feels that every marking on his jewelry has spiritual meaning. sz9.75 Harry Morgan Navajo square Sterling ring with turquoise. Weight and measurements in pics. Harry Morgan is known for his classic revival style jewelry with its smooth, soft, antique finishes and classic design. He is a fifth-generation silversmith. Born and raised on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona, Harry Morgan began casting jewelry at age seven. His mother Louise inspired him to make jewelry in the old style. The Navajo Tribe offered him a four-year scholarship in engineering, but being a rodeo cowboy was his dream, at the time. He ultimately returned to his passion for silversmithing, and became a silversmith in 1965. He spent most of his life in the Gallup, NM area, and at one point opened a jewelry supply store in Crownpoint, NM. He also operated a smithing studio, and employed many smiths who would also emulate the classic revival style. One of those employed was well-known silversmith Kirk Smith. Many of Harry Morgans stamps were inherited from his parents and uncle, or made by him. Harry Morgan was married to Navajo silversmith Betty Joe, and is the nephew of accomplished silversmiths Charlie Bitsue and Ike Wilson. Brother Henry Morgan is known for his exceptional sandcast pieces. Linda Marble, his sister, was also known for her sandcast pieces. She passed away in 2004. Of his five children, three have taken up silversmithing. Harry Morgan won awards at every major Indian art show, and had an exhibit of his creations at the Heard Museum in 2007, a year before he passed way. No significant issues, clips work well with good springs. T Foree Hunsicker (1932-2015) In 1954, she graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in art. At UT, she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Later, she studied at Corcoran Gallery in Washington, DC and the Arts Students League in New York City. A life-long Francophile, in July of 1956, she made the first of many trips to Europe, this initial journey on the venerable Queen Elizabeth. Foree always had an artistic bent. At various times, she was a painter, clothes designer, and interior decorator. Her greatest success, however, came as a jewelry manufacturer when she started a company in 1987 called Medalias by Foree Hunsicker. At one time employing nearly fifty people, Medalias specialized in luggage tag jewelry, reproducing in sterling silver a wide variety of Victorian-era luggage tags and fashioning them into earrings, necklaces, and other accessories. A fixture for many years in the North Texas design world and at the Apparel Mart, Foree was honored with a Dallas Fashion Award in 1995.

I believe this to be one of her earlier pieces.<br><br>Tana Acton has lived a life focused on creative and artistic expression.<br>She was born in Birmingham, Michigan, to Cranbrook Art School parents and<br>schooled at home and throughout the U.S. and abroad. In Florence, Italy, she<br>studied with Tomaso after studying silversmithing in Haystack's high school<br>program with Glenda Arentzen.
