Born in 1966, Andy Cadman is the older brother of well-known silversmith Darrel Cadman and a half-brother of renowned smiths Gary and Sunshine Reeves. The Cadman brothers and the Reeves brothers, therefore, share a common element of apprenticeship and exhibit certain similarities in their work. This outstanding bracelet was hand created and signed by Isleta, master silversmith Michael Kirk and is inlaid with an array of clear blue turquoise in a gorgeous silver feather design. This lovely piece shows the quality of material and workmanship Michael uses in his one-of-a-kind collectible design. Michael was the first artist to create the beautiful silver feather bracelets. Many people copied his work, because it sold. He began creating jewelry in 1971, after returning from military service in Vietnam. Overall expected wear with apparent circa third quarter of the 20th century.Chief Shatka Bear-Step (1898-1980; otherwise known as Richard Spencer) who was both an accomplished and well known silversmith.Not only was Shatka Bear-Step a silversmith but he was also passionate about the Appaloosa horse breed. The Appaloosa Horse Club (an international breed registry), inducted Chief Shatka Bear-Step into their hall of fame in 1988, and on their website they describe him in this way: "An Appaloosa showman and promoter, Shatka Bear-Step added colorful and romantic aspects to the breed. Shatka was the father of Mr. Dick Spencer (Western Horseman Magazine) and a well-known silver and turquoise artist. He was featured on national television depicting the Lord‘s Prayer in Indian Sign Language. He produced several awards for the Appaloosa Horse Club, including the Shatka Bear-Step award given to the overall high point youth at each National Show."His love for the Appaloosa breed is apparent in the book he wrote and illustrated, "Painted Ponies" It was originally published in 1952.

Solid 14k gold with just one sheet of sterling on the back. The bezel and all the top part is solid 14k gold (tested) you can clearly see where the thinner plate of sterling is bonded to the back. There is a lot more gold than sterling in the bracelet, I believe the sterling is just there for spiritual/health/traditional reasons, weight and mearements in pics. Wayne (1942-2006) and his wife Virginia (1940- ) were born in Zuni, NM and started making jewelry in the 1960‘s. He learned from his mother, Alice Quam. They were/are award winning smiths and lapidarists and their jewelry is highly collectible. Both he and she are referenced in Schaaf‘s "American Indian Jewelry I and III", Hougart‘s "Native American and Southwestern Silver Hallmarks", Wright‘s "Hallmarks of the Southwest" and Bassman‘s "Zuni Jewelry".

Born on the Acoma Reservation, Wolf Robe was the son of Chief Day Break (Edward Proctor Hunt), Chief of the Delight Makers -- a man instrumental in the improvement of relations between the Acomas and whites. His mother, Morning Star, whose own father was Governor of Acoma seven times, was a potter and weaver. Wolf Robe learned silver-smithing from his older brother on the reservation. Wolf Robe achieved recovnition and fame for his jewelry and art work, winning the prestigious Philbrook Art Center's Grand Award in 1967. In addition, he was a businessman, with his own arts and crafts store in Tulsa, a lecturer, international traveller, author, and translator for the Bureau of American Ethnology. He assited L. A. White in his extensive studies of the Acoma Indians and made recordings for the National Anthropological Archives. Wolf Robe was particularly interested in the preservation of tribal customs, language and culture, and devoted his own time to this and the encouragement of others in similar efforts.
