Brenda Schoenfeld Modernist Mexican Sterling Pendant/necklace
Brenda Schoenfeld Modernist Mexican Sterling Pendant/necklace. Necklace and Pendant test sterling, I could find no identifying marks on the necklace. They are estate fresh and were together when found. 42.9 grams total weight, pendant is 2" tall. After graduating from TCU, Brenda set out to make a name for herself, working retail in Dallas Texas while also trying to get a wholesale operation for her own silver jewelry and belt buckle designs off the ground. “I was literally going door to door to stores saying, ‘Hi, would you like to look at my line?’ ” Brenda recalls. “I would wear the belt and everything, and they would say, “I like your earrings. Where’s your showroom?’ I said, ‘Right here!’ ” Within a few years, her Taxco-crafted accessories line was sold at 2,000 stores around the country, including Neiman Marcus and her own Lovers Lane shop.

He is the oldest son of Charles Lotton and was introduced to the world of glassblowing at a very young age. In 1970, Charles started building a furnace and began blowing pieces of glass from melted down pop bottles in a shed behind their house. David was there in this infancy and he was Charles first assistant at the age of ten. David has vivid memories of his childhood working in the shop with his father. When most children were playing childhood games he was spending time after school and on the weekends helping him at the bench. By the age of 14 he started learning how to do finishing work, polishing the bottom of the glass flat. David eventually followed in his fathers' footsteps and by the age of 15 began making paperweights. That ignited a passion to begin glass blowing.David has been creating his one of a kind vessels since 1978. His unique handcrafted works are designed with precise attention to detail. Developing his own glass formulas, David has created a complex palette of colors, giving him the ability to create his multi-layering and sculpting style. Retired Jeep Collins Sterling and Brass Shadowbox angel Pendant2.25" wide x 2" tall no damage or detectable wear. In 1972 Jeep Collins, the son of Enid Collins Handbag designer started making jewelry from glass African trade beads that my sister gave me. She told me, "Why don't you put these together with brass wire and I will see if I can sell them in my store." I had just been discharged from the Marine Corps in July and was planning to go back to college in the fall. I needed to earn a little money while I waited to begin school so I took her up on the offer. By September she was selling all the jewelry I could make. I was so encouraged by the sales that I decided to put off college and make jewelry for awhile. Awhile turned into a lifetime career. In time I learned the art of lost wax casting and direct metal fabrication at the Southwest Craft Center in San Antonio. These new skills enabled me to turn sketches into pieces that reflect my interest; wildlife and nature. In 1974 after my redemption through Jesus Christ many of my designs reflected my new found faith. In the early years Dana and I traveled on weekends to arts and craft shows all over Texas to sell what I made during the week. Later we sold to resellers, and in the early 1990’s we opened our own stores in major Texas cities. This was an exciting time; we had over a hundred craftsmen making jewelry in our Fredericksburg workshop; our lives were at a fast pace. Today life is simple, the stores are all closed and we make jewelry in the old tin house on the ranch, very much like the log cabin of my mother’s where I started. We sell from our website and by phone. The downsizing has been a blessing for us. In addition to making jewelry, Dana and I are involved in several Christian ministries, taking care of grandchildren, raising cattle, and growing vegetables.

He currently lives there with his family. Church Rock is where his father and grandfather are from also; this is where he learned his silversmith trade at the age of thirteen. MCM Sterling Pietra Dura Multistone Mosaic Inlay southwestern mountains pendant with Lapis, Coral, and other stones. A somewhat confusing piece made by an artist that seemed to be able to think for oneself and combine many styles but didn't care to sign such a work of art. A fantastic Mid century style to the silver mounting which I have no way of know is period or not, really good lapidiary work on a level that has never really been common in the US, but the scene sure reminds me of an Arizona mountain landscape. All hand done approaching micromosaic level. Tests sterling, completely unmarked. 29 grams 3.5" tall x 2.5" wide. This piece is really clean, there are some marks on the wings in the pics, they were residues of silver polish which I have removed.

This piece is great and has significant age on it but I don't have time to figure out the hallmarks, I know the bottom one means it's egyptian, I believe 80% silver purity, there's another one on the top piece that's different. Great piece, 50-100 years old. The necklace was on it when I got it, the necklace tests sterling with a replacement clasp that isn't sterling.34.5 grams Pendant is 3" long x 2.25" wide, necklace is 24" long. This is a very high quality piece, not the typical tourist piece you find.

Marked and tested sterling, weight:26.7 Grams, Pendant: 2" x 3", Signed: ETB Sr. Ernest Thomas Bilay (ETB) Earnest Thomas Bilay (ETB) was born in Tuba City, Arizona to the Red House Big Water Clan and has been immersed in his trade for the better part of his life. His grandparents are from the Around the House Clan and the Bitter Water Clan. This craftsman was guided by his mother early on and continued those traditions into his adult years. He worked as a silversmith for over 35 years, since the mid 1970’s, until his passing in 2014. His mother started him out with buffing the earrings she made. From there she gave him other duties, such as soldering things for her. With this beginning, Ernest started making his own jewelry, and he did not ever look back. He continued those traditions into his adult years. Ernest worked out of his own home, and worked for various traders. Along the way he met many other silver and goldsmiths, and he always enjoyed sharing stories about the metals, turquoises and other materials they use.
