Bob Banford Strawberries with blooms lampwork paperweight. No damage or wear 3.25" wide x 2 5/8" tall.American paperweight artist Robert “Bob” Banford (1951– ), together with his father, Raymond Banford (1918–2003), developed a mutual interest in paperweights while Bob was a teenager. Bob received a torch as a high school graduation present from his father in 1971 and apprenticed for a year as a scientific glassblower while teaching himself how to make paperweights. After the Banfords produced their first saleable weights in 1973, they formed R. Banford, Inc. in their native New Jersey, where they made and sold their own paperweights and art glass, in addition to antique paperweights. Banford retired from weight making in 2006 and resides in the Florida Keys.

c1870 Baccarat Gelle Freres Barber Bottle Rose Tiente Rare. 9" tall x 5" wide,<br>minor mineral deposits inside, part of the complex lid mechanism looks to be<br>missing but it's amazing any of it's there. Unsigned 19th century Baccarat. Tiny<br>flake on ground footrim, no other chips, cracks, or restorations.TW214Barber<br>bottles were a part of the barbers tool box. These unique bottles contained<br>shampoos, hair tonics and facial splashes. The barber could purchase a large<br>quaintly of a product or make up his own recipe and refill his bottles. There<br>were many styles and shapes of these bottles. A large variety of colors,<br>enameled floral decorations and unique designs made these bottles very eye<br>appealing while setting on the shelf. The famous artist Mary Gregory with her<br>enameled scenes of small children are very popular today with collectors.<br>Pressed and cut glass examples were available along with opaque personalized<br>bottles in demand also. The personalized bottles would have the barbers name or<br>a very good clients name on it with some kind of a design or picture painted on<br>it. There were also applied label bottles. This was a thin layer of glass<br>covering the label. Many of the earliest bottles were hand blown with a pontil<br>base and a applied or sheared lip. These bottles were manufactured in the United<br>States and imported from Europe. Most of the fancy styles bottles were not<br>embossed but there are a few exceptions. The T Noonan & Co. Barber Supplies<br>Boston, Mass. embossed there name on the base of some of there bottles. Barber<br>bottles were in high demand between 1880s thru the early 1900s. In 1906 the Pure<br>Food and Drug act of 1906 restricted the use of alcohol based substances in<br>unlabeled and refillable containers. This made these bottles no longer used for<br>there original purpose. The demand slowed down but they were still being made<br>till the 1920s.

I have no way of knowing if this is how they were<br>originally produced or not. The one without the brace is strong and stable with<br>no play. There is slight play in the one with with brace and a few small chips<br>where the two pieces meet. They are both fine and display very well, stable, but<br>extra care needs to be taken when packing and handling which is what I do and<br>will do. Selling both 14" tall x 5.5" wide minor wear to gilding, mainly on<br>bases as shown. No chips, cracks, or restorations other than what was mentioned.

c1920 Argy Rousseau Pate De Verre Bowl in the Ivy Pattern signed G.Argy Rousseau. 3.5" tall x 4.5" wide at the rim with no cracks, chips, or restorations. Gabriel Argy-Rousseau is produced wonderful works of pate de verre art glass from about 1914 until 1937. Somewhere between 200 and 300 different designs have been recorded by researchers. Scholars believe that between 15,000 and 20,000 total pieces of art glass were produced by G. Argy-Rousseau. That is a relatively small production and it has made some pieces of his work very rare today. Please do not make the assumption that Argy-Rousseau was just a studio glass maker. He was the main creative force behind the glass, but it was in fact a large production. There were at times as many as 20 employees. G. Argy-Rousseau glass was sold all over Europe, in The United States, Latin America, and even in North Africa. It is partly because of this extensive original sales network that his glass can be found all over the world today. The importance of Argy-Rousseau was two-fold. First, it was completely unlike anything glass makers were producing at the time. And secondly, while others started trying the same styles, no one else was ever really able to make anything consistently more appealing or better. So not only was Argy-Rousseau the first, he was also the best. That is a feat that is rarely accomplished in the arts. 1920's Lightolier Pendant Light With Iridescent Uranium Glass Painted Shade<br>Parrots and Geometric Art Deco Designs. It's really amazing to find a light<br>light this intact. It has the Lightolier label inside the brass ring where it's<br>wired to the ceiling. The top iron section is 15.5" The shade is 8.5" tall and<br>the Ornament at the bottom of the shade is 4.5" long. So it will hang about<br>28.5" down from the ceiling. The Globe is about 10.5" wide. It's Iridescent but<br>didn't show well in the pics. There is also some uranium in the glass as it<br>glows green under a blacklight but not as much as full on yellow vaseline glass.<br>Tiny flakes where shade attaches to hardware, no big deal and expected. No large<br>chips, no cracks, extremely rare and super cool. It will be packed with the<br>hardware in one box and the glove in another then tons of padding. There's a<br>little surface rust on the iron but really it's just got character and lots of<br>it.<br>B33

He soon perfected Gold Aurene which was similar to iridescent art glass that was being produced by Tiffany and others. Gold Aurene was followed by a wide range of colored art glass that eventually was produced in more than 7,000 shapes and 140 colors. Steuben Glass Works continued to produce glass of all sorts until World War I. At that time war time restrictions made it impossible for Steuben to acquire the materials needed to continue manufacture. The company was subsequently sold to Corning Glass Works and became the Steuben Division. Carder continued as Division manager without any real change in the company's operation except that he now had reporting responsibilities to Corning Glass Works' management. Corning's management tried, mostly unsuccessfully, to limit the articles that Steuben made to only the most popular. Production continued until about 1932. In 1932, there was a major change in Steuben management. The nationwide depression had limited the sale of Steuben and there was a lessening of public interest in colored glass. In February 1932, John MacKay was appointed to Carder's position. Carder became Art Director for Corning Glass Works. Steuben then produced primarily colorless art glass. Steuben still produced colored art glass, but mostly to fill special orders. A few new colors were added after Carder transitioned into his new role with Corning Glass Works, but the last known sale for colored art glass by Steuben was in 1943 B43

c1890 Wavecrest CF Monroe Hand painted American Art Glass Vase with Ormula Feet
This is a magnificent glass vase on a metal base. Overall height is<br>approximately 10 3/8 ", the glass vase measures 9 1/2" and is up to 3 1/4" wide.<br>The diameter of the opening is 1 7/8". Pressed white milk glass with a beaded<br>top rim. Multiple embossed designs around the neck and base as well as embossed<br>scroll-like designs down the full length of the sides. Beautifully hand painted<br>on front and back with multiple small blue flowers with yellow centers and long<br>wispy brown stems and leaves. Reddish-brown accents and many white beads. The<br>metal base consists of a silver-colored ring and four attached gold-colored<br>feet. The ring appears to be made of brass with a silver colored paint, the feet<br>seem to consist of a white/grey metal with gold painting. Both ring and feet are<br>quite ornate. Manufactured by the C.F. Monroe Company in Meriden, CT and the<br>bottom of the vase is accordingly marked with the orange Wavecrest mark as used<br>around 1900. In excellent condition without any damage. No chips, no cracks, no<br>wear other than three enamel dots on the very top rim, no repairs.<br>B25

There are a few small<br>scratches on the exterior only visible upon close examination. These pretty much<br>always have some and it's rarely mentioned.<br><br><br>In 1886, a Chinese porcelain vase with "Peach Bloom" glaze sold at auction for<br>$18,000. The tremendous price and the phrase Peach Bloom were widely publicized.<br>Within months, American glass companies developed new formulas to capitalize on<br>the Peach Bloom name. This glassware is now collectively referred to as<br>"Peachblow".<br><br>One type of Peachblow, shading from yellow at the bottom to deep red at the top,<br>was made by the Hobbs, Brockunier and Company of Wheeling, West Virginia. It is<br>now called Wheeling Peachblow after the town where it was made. Wheeling<br>Peachblow is a two-layered glass or cased glass. The inside layer is white; the<br>outer layer shades from yellow at the bottom to deep red at the top. Original<br>Wheeling Peachblow was made in two finishes, shiny and satin.<br>B26
