Tested and guaranteed thick layer of solid 14k gold on top of the figures on solid sterling silver with weight and measurements in pictures. Good condition, circa last quarter of the 20th century with no issues. Marked with Artists hallmark and no other markings.   No sterling or 14k gold markings.

Bennett Kagenveama was an extraordinarily talented Hopi overlay silversmith, born in Shungopavi, Hopi Second Mesa Arizona. His parents, Richard and Gladys Kagenveama, were very prominent artists. His mother, Gladys is considered one of the top Hopi coil basket weavers.

Bennetts jewelry exudes a level of intricate detail not seen in other Hopi overlay jewelry. He created his jewelry by overlaying multiple layers of silver and finished with delicate oxidation and intricate hand texturing. This interesting contrast in the textures of his silverwork is what really makes his work stand out. Bennett specialized in the Kachina designs, including dance scenes with kivas and pueblos in the background.

Bennett passed away in 2025. Beyond being a wonderful artist, he was a friend who we will greatly miss. Bennett was a soft spoken, humble, and very kind man. He was very well thought of by his peers and his work garnered praise from collectors all over the world.
