Frank Patania Sr. and brother Carmelo "Pat" Patania opened up their Thunderbird Shop in Tucson, AZ in 1937. They combined old world jewelry-making with the influence of the Southwest jewelry. Many Native American jewelers apprenticed with the Patania family.
