Morris Robinson (1900–1987) was one of the most masterful goldsmiths and silversmiths of his time. A member of the Hopi people from Third Mesa and born into the Snake Clan, Robinson is celebrated for his iconic hallmark: the letter H accompanied by a snake motif, symbolizing both his heritage and clan.
In the 1920s, Robinson’s bold Art Deco–inspired designs marked a groundbreaking shift in Native American jewelry at the turn of the century, setting him apart from his contemporaries. His innovative work established him as one of the most influential artists of his era, shaping the direction of modern Indigenous jewelry and inspiring renowned artists such as Charles Loloma and Kenneth Begay.
