Sometimes Ernest makes his jewelry with the Tufa cast method, and sometimes he uses the overlay method.

Tufa casting is an ancient process where the design is carved in Tufa stone (a form of compressed volcanic ash found on Navajoland) and then molten silver is poured into the stone to produce the jewelry.
