Thus the\u0026lt;br\u0026gt;barber became very popular as well as servicing a new need, and a new profession\u0026lt;br\u0026gt;was created.\u0026lt;br\u0026gt;\u0026lt;br\u0026gt;A wonderful 18th century Chinese Imari Barber’s Bowl with a vibrant Imari\u0026lt;br\u0026gt;design. This name is used for both a pattern and colors which were for a\u0026lt;br\u0026gt;specific type of Chinese porcelain. The Chinese got their inspiration from the\u0026lt;br\u0026gt;earlier colors and designs of Japanese Imari porcelain. Chinese Imari is\u0026lt;br\u0026gt;typically characterized by a combination of dry iron red enamel highlighted with\u0026lt;br\u0026gt;gilt which is then applied as the underglaze on blue and white porcelain. In\u0026lt;br\u0026gt;general, the Chinese Imari pieces have a brighter white and more purple-toned\u0026lt;br\u0026gt;blue than the Japanese pieces.
