1 in stock

Lynn Gaylord Sterling Silver Cocker Spaniel Belt buckle. Appears unused, very well cast, 2.5" x 1 5/8", takes up to a 1" belt, 43 grams. This design was inspired by a turn of the century fireplace decoration found in England. Fits a 24mm strap.Lyn Gaylord had been an avid collector of 19th century treasures for many years before she made a career out of her passion. Her fascination with these precious collectibles dates back to a trip she made to Europe with her daughter Jenny, over 25 years ago. The pair roamed the markets of London and Paris falling deeply in love with the history and drama of these magnificent objects of art. This was also the beginning of their yearly trip to the island of Capri and the start of their love affair with all things Italian. When, some years later, Lyn discovered a tobacco box with a particularly charming relief, inspiration struck and the idea for Lyn Gaylord Accessories was born.sterling silver buckleShe learned jewelry design and took courses in subjects as varied as wax carving, granulation, photography, stenciling and painting. To avoid drilling holes in these prize collectibles during the casting process, she made an imprint of the surface and then painstakingly hand- carved the intricate design. With her daughter for a partner, the artist took her wares to market. At their first juried trade show at the Plaza Hotel, the fabled Giorgio boutique in Beverly Hills was quick to lend its support - spurring a loyal following that today extends to hundreds of exclusive specialty stores across the country. Lyn and Jenny still travel abroad several times a year to scour the markets for hidden treasures. With over 250 designs in the repertoire, the Lyn Gaylord collections have expanded to include not just buckles, but cufflinks, hand-blown crystal vanity jars with sterling lids. A glimpse of the artist at work in her Bell Island studio, surrounded by the waters of Long Island Sound and a dizzying array of collectibles, and it's clear this is truly a labor of love.

He worked and studied with Frank Patania in Santa Fe. He worked in both silver and gold, letting his influences range from traditional to European. His work became known for its innovation, and he is noted for being a designer ahead of his time.Marked or unmarked as shown in pics, weight and other measurements in pics. If you would like to chat, that would be great, but lets chat about something that isn't answered in this listing that we put so much effort into already :)

All precious metals are tested and guaranteed. A Native American jewelry piece referred to as "silver" or "ingot" is guaranteed to be at least 90% silver. I rarely use the word "sterling" when referring to older Native American silver or really any older silver jewelry as silver contents vary and "sterling" is 92.5% silver. No older jewelry is going to be exactly 92.5% silver, some a little over, some a little under. It wasn't an exact thing with handmade jewelry. I've seen thousands of pieces xrf'd to prove this. Bracelets are photographed on a 6" women's wrist.

Julian Lovato (1922-2018) Kewa Sterling Mediterranean coral concho belt 2.75" x 2" buckle, (9) 2.5" x 1 5/8" conchos. No isssues, I'll follow up with length and weight.Since 1948, the Southwest has offered the world distinctive and unusual jewelry of Julian Lovato. His work has the individual stamp of a creative craftsman, yet the tradition of the Native American Southwest is evident. Lovato express his own sophisticated modern designs in handmade sterling silver and gold jewelry and objects of art.Coral and turquoise are the traditional gemstones of the Southwestern Indian, "the most valuable thing to possess, something to treasure, the way people want to have a diamond no matter what price," Lovato explains. He designs each piece of jewelry around the stone, selecting the finest turquoise and coral available.Lovato's love of turquoise goes back to his childhood: Santo Domingo Pueblo is renown for turquoise bead making and silversmithing. His father and grandfather both worked with turquoise. Upon his father's death, Lovato got a job at age thirteen cutting stones at Maisels in Albuquerque. Later, he spent several years with a similar operation in Kansas City. Then in 1948 he had the great fortune of becoming apprentice to the internationally distinguished Italian silversmith, Frank Patania.Patania came to Santa Fe in 1924. He brought with his a new sense of design elegance to Southwestern jewelry. During his years at Patinia's Thunderbird Shop in Santa Fe, Lovato was responsible for the silver monogram that became the Thunderbird specialty: contemporary buckles, cufflinks, brooches and rings. Patania and Lovato also made sterling silver pitchers, bowls, teapots and trays.Whereas most traditional Native American jewelry is flatwork, either stamped or overlay, Lovato has adopted the techniques and design elements learned from Patania into what he calls a raised or dimensional jewelry design. Lovato's bracelets curve not only along it's length, but also softly across the width. The bezels hold the stones elevated from the surface, so that the turquoise or coral stones appear to float above the surface. The effect of suspension contrasts with the second characteristic of Lovato's style- a deliberate look of weight in the metalwork. Lovato uses substantial sheets of sterling silver and gold, giving an importance to the metal work. However, the exquisite balance and craftsmanship belie the weight of the metal.Julian Lovato combines tradition and innovation, and the permanence of metal and stone with the elusive grace and beauty of design in works of art which will endure. "I have strong feelings about the things I do. I'd like to leave something behind someday when I am gone. Something that people can remember me by, something that is worthwhile. I'd like somebody to think of me as a silversmith whose work can be treasured. I think my work can speak for itself."All precious metals are tested and guaranteed, any Native American jewelry referred to as Silver or Sterling is guaranteed to be a minimum of 90% (coin) silver and possibly higher content. Anything marked is guaranteed to be what it's marked, most bracelets are photographed on a 6" wrist (non hairy), rings photographed on the appropriate sized finger when possible. With bracelets if the measurement is not given in the description then inside circumference is shown where the metal meets the number on the the cloth tape measure.

Geraldine Yazzie Navajo Silver and turquoise cluster concho belt. 59" total length with no holes in 1" leather belt. New old stock condition, never worn, purchased for 6500k about 20 years ago. High grade turquoise, very high quality workmanship. 3" x 2.5" buckle, (10) 2.5" x 2" conchos. 670 grams. Geraldine Yazzie started creating beautiful silver jewelry in the late 80‘s. Learning from her mother, she supports her own family with her well-crafted belts and other forms. She resides on the Navajo reservation in the area of Smith Lake, New Mexico near Crownpoint, New Mexico. Geraldine is a Navajo silversmith in her early 50‘s who has been smithing silver for over thirty years. She is known for her Traditional Revival style jewelry. Geraldine‘s work is sometimes misrepresented as vintage, old pawn because her detailing is so like the work common to the middle of the twentieth century. She is also particularly adept in her manner of oxidizing her silver so that the patina seems to be due simply to age of the piece. In addition, she pays particular attention to using stamps of a bygone era and sometimes adds small nicks to her pieces to make them look as though they‘ve been worn for decades. His grandparents are from the Around the House Clan and the Bitter Water Clan. This craftsman was guided by his mother early on and continued those traditions into his adult years. He worked as a silversmith for over 35 years, since the mid 1970’s, until his passing in 2014. His mother started him out with buffing the earrings she made. From there she gave him other duties, such as soldering things for her. With this beginning, Ernest started making his own jewelry, and he did not ever look back.
