All precious metals are tested and guaranteed. A Native American jewelry piece referred to as "silver" or "ingot" is guaranteed to be at least 90% silver. I rarely use the word "sterling" when referring to older Native American silver or really any older silver jewelry as silver contents vary and "sterling" is 92.5% silver. No older jewelry is going to be exactly 92.5% silver, some a little over, some a little under. It wasn't an exact thing with handmade jewelry. I've seen thousands of pieces xrf'd to prove this. 6.5" Bev Etsate Zuni inlaid plaque in Navajo heavy stamped silver cuff bracelet

    1 in stock

6.5" Bev Etsate Zuni inlaid plaque in Navajo heavy stamped silver cuff bracelet. The silver work on this cuff is way better than any Bev Etsate cuffs I've seen. It's signed on the back illegibly, very nice silverwork. Likely a collaboration.<br><br>Beverly Etsate is an acclaimed Zuni Inlay artist. Bev is the daughter of revered Zuni artists Rosalie and Augustine Pinto. Bev continues her parents’ tradition of inlaid jewelry by producing jewelry in the same style as her elders. As she had learned from her parents she has been a teacher to her two sons Carl Etsate a fetish carver and Todd Etsate as well as her daughter Tracy Bowekaty, a jewelry maker who is also following in her mother’s and grandparents’ paths.<br><br>She has over 40 years of experience in her craft. Over that time, she has become one of Zuni's foremost jewelers.<br><br>Her work ranges through all the traditional techniques of Zuni: mosaic inlay, raised inlay, animated, pictorial inlay, and also needlepoint. She creates overlay and inlay figures, blossoms, holiday themes, corn style inlay, and needlepoint. Some of her favorite designs are kachinas, mudheads and bears. A great sense of humor is evident in many of her holiday pieces.<br><br> Marked or unmarked as shown in pics, weight and other measurements in pics. 6.5" Bruce Morgan Navajo 14K & Sterling Silver Heavy Cuff Bracelet

    1 in stock

Bruce Morgan Navajo 14K & Sterling Silver Heavy Cuff Bracelet 6.5" inside<br>diameter including the 1.5" gap 13/16" wide at widest point near gap. 106.3<br>grams, really solid with very thick layer of 14k gold. Most of the Bruce Morgan<br>cuffs you will find online in this price range weigh about half as much or less.Bruce Morgan (b. 1957) is an award-winning Navajo silversmith. He is well known<br>for his use of both silver and gold in his pieces and his iconic gold overlay.<br>Born in Rehoboth, New Mexico and raised in Brimhall, Morgan made his first piece<br>of jewelry while in high school. His aunt made jewelry and was sadly killed in<br>an accident. His grandmother gave Morgan her tools in hopes that he would make<br>use of them, which he gladly did.<br><br>After graduating in 1976, he moved to Phoenix, Arizona and began making jewelry<br>for others in 1978; however, it was a slow start for Morgan and in order to<br>support himself financially, he took a job as a miner in the Uranium Mine and<br>began training to become an electrician. After a year of training, he got laid<br>off and continued on to school for commercial electrician and planned on<br>becoming an electrical engineer. After realizing that it was too much physical<br>work, he went back to jewelry making and found a way to stand out from the rest.<br><br>Morgan started out with traditional style jewelry making conchas and turquoise,<br>but in 1983 he was one of the first artists to use the two tone method of silver<br>and gold. In 1982, he made a silver cane for the Prime Minister in Egypt and in<br>1983 began using “traditional and simple” stampwork and creating his signature<br>gold overlay. Although he admires the traditional pieces, he has said he will<br>continue to only make his gold overlay jewelry, because it is quicker to make<br>and allows people to have a one of a kind piece that can be worn daily or for a<br>special occasion. His rings are often used as wedding bands for that very<br>reason.<br><br>Morgan’s exceptionally clean lines and renowned gold overlay has brought<br>attention to his work in not only the US, but worldwide. He has been featured in<br>“Arizona Highways” and “Southwest Art” magazines and continues to create<br>beautiful pieces of jewelry to this day.

  • 6.5" c1974 Luis Mojica Tufa Cast silver Lapis, Sodalite, and shell inlaid cuff bracelet

6.5" c1974 Luis Mojica Tufa Cast silver Lapis, Sodalite, and shell inlaid cuff bracelet

    1 in stock

6.5" c1974 Luis Mojica Tufa Cast silver Lapis, Sodalite, and shell inlaid cuff bracelet, total masterpiece with no issues. Acquired with a ring dated 1974 by the same artist, selling the bracelet shown. Below is the information I recieved with it from it's original owner."Both pieces were purchased during the time that I lived in New Mexico in 1972-75 time frame. They were purchased from J. Ray Corliss (aka Rick Corliss) who owned a shop on Old Canyon Road in Santa Fe called Yazzi, Mohamed and Muldoon. Rick was quite connected to the art community at the time in Santa Fe and he was always looking for new and unusual things to sell in his store. He was quite taken with Mojica's work and told us on more than one occasion that he had visited Luis. My husband (now deceased) commissioned a bracelet from Mojica through Rick and this bracelet I am selling is the result. He had asked for a show stopper ladies ring (to me it could be either male or female) as well which is the other piece for sale. Mojica was just beginning to gain acclaim for his work but it was in no way main stream. Rick Corliss and I grew up in the same small town in CA so he was not a stranger to me and therefore I did not question him when he said he knew Luis. Rick had other pieces by the artist for sale as well during the years I lived there. That is all I can tell you about the provenance."LUIS MOJICA The artist has lived all his life in the Rio Grande valley of southern Colorado and New Mexico in the region once known as the frontier territory of the Spanish Empire in the new world and later as a state of the Republic of Mexico. The region became part of the United States in 1848. the term mestizo or “mixed blood” describing the heritage of inter-marriage between Europeans and the native peoples of the Americas is correctly applied to the artist, and is where his artistic identity began and continues. The cultural roots that underlie the artwork of Luis Mojica may not be obvious to the casual observer. Throughout his extended career as as an artist, designer, jeweler, ceramist, and painter, he has striven to transcend the limitations of provincialism and conservatism that characterize his traditional Hispanic upbringing in order to create work that is current and expressive of a larger world view. Yet, values such as respect for tradition, persistence in the face of adversity, and a belief in the importance of life long education and spiritual growth have formed the foundation of his artistic efforts as well.Over the years of his career, Mojica has become recognized as one of the most innovative and proficient jewelry artists in the Southwest. His work is distinguished by the highest standards of craftsmanship, unusual combinations of materials, and a clear sense of functional design. His inspirations include the landscape, colors and cultural icons of the American southwest which are subsequently abstracted into his jewelry designs and finished pieces. His intent to offer jewelry that is well designed and executed, which has the distinct and unique qualities that can only come from the hands of a seasoned practitioner.Mojica’s work in precious metals has been seen in museum exhibitions and collections of the Heard Museum, Phoenix, AZ, the Museum of International Folk Art, and the Museum of Spanish Colonial art in Santa Fe, NM, the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History, Albuquerque, NM and the Millicent Rogers Museum, Taos, NM. For over twelve years the artist was a participant in the annual Traditional Spanish Market held each July on the Plaza in Santa Fe, where his role as award winning exhibitor expanded to include lecturer, teacher and mentor of aspiring youth artist. He retired from Spanish Market in 2011.The artist currently maintains a home and studio in Albuquerque, NM.All precious metals are tested and guaranteed.

    1 in stock

"When silver is all shined up it hides all of the intricate<br>detail in the stamp work and the bezels. This older style is what I grew up with<br>and what I love."<br><br>Although it was his mother who inspired him to create this style of jewelry that<br>had that old Navajo look,it was Harry however who was the 1st to bring this<br>style to the forefront of the industry..Paving the way for others like his<br>brother-in-law Kirk Smith who then followed in Harry's footsteps & with Kirk's<br>connection with other artists, they then followed in Kirk's footsteps. Now this<br>is the dominant style amongst most Navajo artists & you see this old pawn style<br>darkened finishing everywhere..Kirks name will always be associated with Harry's<br>& vise versa.<br><br>if you've ever wondered why most Navajo pieces have that old style look &<br>finishing where many of you can't tell if the piece is new or old anymore,it was<br>this man who we can give the credit to for bringing a style of jewelry that we<br>now see everywhere. 6.5" Jim Poyer Navajo sterling multi-stone channel inlay bracelet. High quality<br>work with no issues. 5.5" plus 1" gap 19mm wide.<br><br>This exciting artist was born in 1954 close to Mexican Water, Arizona and was<br>raised near Red Mesa, south of the Four Corners. His traditional Navajo family<br>upbringing gave him a strong sense of values.<br><br>He attended high school in Shiprock and did well in school. He spent a few<br>semesters at BYU and University of New Mexico before deciding that college was<br>not for him. Instead, he felt the lure of travel and his first love, music. He<br>played lead guitar and sang vocals for nearly two decades, many times as the<br>opening act for well known country performs everywhere from "Canada to Mexico."<br><br>He began to work as an apprentice to renowned jeweler, Jimmie Harrison, when he<br>wasn't on tour. It wasn't long before he began to make jewelry on his own,<br>borrowing the inlay style from Harrison, but creating his own unique Native<br>American designs. This new passion for making jewelry coincided with his desire<br>to quit traveling and stay home with his wife Theresa and their children.<br><br>While his jewelry is sold across the country in fine galleries and museum shops<br>and demand for his work is high, Poyer has resisted the temptation to set up a<br>shop with other people producing his work or to cast the silver and gold for his<br>designs. Every piece is built by hand from sheet silver, wire and natural<br>stones. He enjoys working with turquoise, but is fascinated with the patterns<br>and colors from shells, malachite, jet, coral, sugilite, lapis and other<br>semi-precious stones. Jimmy Poyer is proud of every piece he creates. His<br>greatest pleasure comes from having others enjoy his work.<br><br>He presently lives in Farmington, New Mexico.<br><br>All precious metals are tested and guaranteed, any Native American jewelry<br>referred to as Silver or Sterling is guaranteed to be a minimum of 90% (coin)<br>silver and possibly higher content. Most cuff bracelets are shown photographed<br>on a 6" woman's wrist and will include a photo showing the inside circumference<br>where the metal tip meets the number on the tape measure.

6.5" Jock Favour ingot silver and turquoise revival cuff bracelet

    Out of stock

6.5" Jock Favour ingot silver and turquoise revival cuff bracelet.Jock Favour has been making his well-known old-style jewelry since the 1970s. By combining older stones with ingot silver Jock pays tribute to the traditional techniques of Native American jewelry making. The artistic Favour family contains multiple silversmiths including Jock’s brother Charlie Favour. Bracelets are photographed on a 6" women's wrist.
