c1960 Rare Early Promotional Warner Brothers Records California Pottery Cowboy B

    1 in stock

c1960 Rare Early Promotional Warner Brothers Records California Pottery Cowboy Boot. 6 3/8" tall x 4.25" long. Extremely rare, likely one of the first promotional items from Warner Brothers Records when they first started in 1958, not much later if it is. From the Estate of Tom Middleton (1953-2020) No cracks, chips, or restorations. tw209In 1973, Tom found a catalog of instruments from Warehouse Music Sales in Fort Worth that contained multiple dobros. He sold his two guitars and used the funds to buy his first dobro. After it arrived, his life was never quite the same. If you ever had the pleasure to hear him play, you saw Tom doing what he loved. Before making his way to Arizona to continue his education, Tom worked as a towboat deckhand for the United Maritime Union on the Ohio, Monongahela, and Allegheny Rivers. Tom received a BS in English Literature from Northern Arizona University. During his time in Flagstaff, he was a member of the Mormon Lake Hotshots on the Coconino National Forest. Bill Mack's "All Night Open Road" show from WBAP in Dallas kept him company at the Mormon Lake Guard Station. He became lifelong friends with several of his fellow firefighters and kept in contact with them the rest of his life. But music kept calling, and Tom began working for R.Q. Jones Resophonic Guitar Company in Wanette, Oklahoma. Now he wasn't just playing dobros, he was making them. In fact, he made one for a young dobro player named Jerry Douglas who is now widely regarded as "the" dobro player of our time. The dobro in question now belongs to the Music Instrument Museum in Phoenix. Jerry and Tom became good friends and whenever Jerry toured through Austin in recent years, they would take in some live music together at Ginny's Little Longhorn Saloon among other music venues. In 1978, Tom went to work for Peaches Records and Tapes in Oklahoma City, then The Handleman Company, and finally Pickwick Distribution Company in Dallas. These three jobs showed Tom the buying, selling, and distribution side of the music business. By 1985, Tom was working as a Print Production Manager at The Richards Group, an advertising agency in Dallas. He excelled at print production and would stay with it in Austin at both GSD&M and McGarrah Jessee from which he retired after 24 years shortly before his death.Tom's work in print production should not go unrecognized. There is no doubt that countless times you've seen ads, packaging, and products that he produced – you just didn't know it. He had a wealth of experience and knowledge and was always keen to share what he knew with young producers and creative types. When Tom retired, his coworkers, vendors, suppliers,

c1960 Vidal Aragon (1923-2015) Santo Domingo Silver and turquoise bolo tie

    1 in stock

c1960 Vidal Aragon (1923-2015) Santo Domingo Silver and turquoise bolo tie 42" long with no issues, nice heavy tips. From Santo Domingo Pueblo, Vidal Aragon (1923-2015) translated pueblo life into intricate storyteller jewelry. He became internationally renown for his inventive silver and gold overlay designs. His representations of the elements of nature, animals and pueblo life are symbolic of the Indian way. One symbol refers to “everlasting happiness.” Other common motifs are animals and the tracks they make and the blessing and nourishment of corn. An expert craftsman, Aragon drew each story strip with his saw blade and soldered it to a textured oxidized underlayer to illuminate the images. He often incorporated a trademark gold disk to represent the sun or moon.Vidal Aragon learned the overlay technique in the 1930s when he was a student at the Santa Fe Indian School. Before inventing the storyteller jewelry, he experimented with tufa casting and other metalworking techniques. He briefly lived in Scottsdale where he honed his skills as a shop smith. He has fond memories of the time he spent learning ballet as a young man in Phoenix. By the early 1940s, Vidal was already being recognized alongside such prominent smiths as Ambrose Roanhorse and Tom Burnsides for his innovative yet classical designs. Aragon found his true calling though when he began to translate his rich sense of the pueblo way of life into wearable stories, often full of his unique humor. All precious metals are tested and guaranteed. A Native American jewelry piece referred to as "silver" or "ingot" is guaranteed to be at least 90% silver. I rarely use the word "sterling" when referring to older Native American silver or really any older silver jewelry as silver contents vary and "sterling" is 92.5% silver. No older jewelry is going to be exactly 92.5% silver, some a little over, some a little under. It wasn't an exact thing with handmade jewelry. I've seen thousands of pieces xrf'd to prove this. 1960's Apollo Signed Charles Schultz Snoopy Astronaut poster. Charles Schulz was<br>a huge fan of the American Space Program and Snoopy was a NASA mascot for the<br>space program and was seen on uniform patches at NASA. Guaranteed 100% sure on<br>my life 100% authentic. By inheritance it's from the estate listed below, Debbie<br>is Rep Jerry L. Pettis' daughter Deborah mentioned below. Measures 22" x 16", I<br>have some other related items from the same estate that do help with the<br>provenance but I'm offering them separately as they are difficult to photograph<br>together and I cannot guess whether the potential buyer would be interested<br>enough in the other items. Some would, some won't. Plus I have to find said<br>items. Minor wear but overall clean with no significant issues. There were<br>apollo 8 and 11 items in this estate including signed presidential and signed<br>astronaut items. I'm actually not 100% sure which Apollo mission this poster is<br>from because evidently it's an extremely uncommon poster. It seems there was a<br>snoopy poster for every mission but you won't find them signed by Charles<br>Schultz, the highest result I found was an Apollo 1 poster the same size sold<br>for $3500 in 2018, unsigned.<br><br>SAN BERNARDINO, Calif., Feb. 14 (AP)—Representative Jerry L. c1968 Manuel Centella Escalante Yaqui Native Mexican Dance mask, signed by<br>artist and written in pencil indicating it was purchased around 1968 for $110.<br>There is some extensive info on this respected artist online 9 1/8" tall x 5<br>7/8" wide without the extra hair. Nice old mask, I will be offering a very large<br>collection of these that was assembled in the 60's-80's, a large percentage are<br>from the first quarter of the 20th century, some perhaps a bit older. The ones<br>that are more recent are of exceptional quality. Some have tags identifying<br>them, some of the tags are missing or have been degraded over time.<br><br>I won't have time to discuss the character of each mask, but I'll make sure to<br>take good, accurate photos, and as stated you'll get the mask shown in the<br>condition shown, with approximate age stated. They will be safely stored until<br>sold so I won't really be able answer any specific questions, I'll give the<br>measurements of each one when listing. And I apologize in advance for my lack of<br>cultural awareness if I happen to call a central/south American mask a Mexican<br>mask.<br>It's just there are a lot of masks and very little time, and while I think each<br>and every one of them is absolutely fabulous or I wouldn't waste my time<br>photographing them....I would rather spend the time I could spend learning the<br>history of each character making sure they are packaged well enough to fall off<br>the truck, get ran over a few times...and still make it to you intact.<br>tw23

I've seen thousands of pieces xrf'd to prove this. c1970's American Ceramic Penis Man sculpture. 8" tall with one tiny glaze flake<br>on bottom of cloak, no large chips or cracks, no touch ups. This was likely made<br>in a ceramic class, it's in the same category as "holland mold", like the<br>ceramic xmas trees that are now so popular.<br><br>This is from the Estate of Milton Simpson, author of several books and<br>publications of Folk a. He was the graphic designer who discovered the<br>Woodbridge figures collection in New Jersey. Not the construction worker that<br>found them but the person who purchased them all from a local pawn shop and<br>recognized their importance. There is a very high probability this piece is<br>published in one or more of his books/publications. It's a great hand carved,<br>one of a kind piece. It's 9" tall and happens to be painted black, if it were<br>painted white, green, yellow, purple it would be equally important in my eyes,<br>really just a strange and wonderful thing with these orange breasts, etc.<br><br>Milton Simpson (1911-2023)<br>Milton – also known by his friends and acquaintances as Milt - was born and<br>raised in Brooklyn, New York City and raised his family in Millburn, New Jersey.<br>He attended the New York School of Industrial Art (SIA), now the School of Art<br>and Design. He then worked for Incorporated Ideas Advertising Agency in New<br>Jersey before joining the United States Army, serving in Korea.<br>After his discharge from the Army, Milt attended The Workshop School of<br>Advertising & Editorial Art. Upon completion of his studies there, he became the<br>Art Director of The American Baby Magazine in New York, Assistant Art Director<br>at Lewin, Williams & Saylor in New Jersey, and then Art Director of Kenyon-Baker<br>Advertising & Baker Printing Company, (both of which were under one roof) in New<br>Jersey. (He left there because the promised air conditioner was never<br>installed!)<br>He then worked as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator for several<br>years.<br>In 1964, he and business partner Don Johnson founded the firm of Johnson &<br>Simpson Graphic Designers with Milt as president. They were based in a townhouse<br>in beautiful downtown Newark, New Jersey and specialized in corporate<br>communications. The design projects they took in included annual reports,<br>corporate magazines, capability brochures, posters, museum catalogs, trademarks<br>and books. Their clients included Conoco, Johnson & Johnson, New Jersey Bell,<br>Hoffmann-La Roche, The Newark Museum and Singer Corporation.<br>The firm was featured in every major design publication, was recognized by over<br>350 graphic design awards and he and Don were inducted into the New Jersey Ad<br>Club's Advertising Hall of Fame in 1991.<br>Milt also served on the Advisory Board of The Greater Newark Chamber of Commerce<br>and was an Adjunct Professor (Publication Design) at Montclair State College.<br>The New Jersey Art Directors Club voted Milt Art Director of the Year in 1972.<br>Books were his passion. He couldn't seem to get them out of his system and<br>didn't try to. For many years he produced and self-published a series of<br>Artists' Books using several print-on-demand platforms. Milt was always a<br>student and appreciator of quirky, eccentric and irrational human behavior.<br>These Artists' Books were very much influenced by his observations and<br>obsessions.<br>Among many others too numerous to mention, he wrote "Windmill Weights" which was<br>self-published and "Folk a" published by HarperCollins.

  • c1970's Lander Blue Turquoise Native American Silver bracelet - Estate Fresh Austin

c1970's Lander Blue Turquoise Native American Silver bracelet

    1 in stock

c1970's Lander Blue Turquoise Native American Silver bracelet. Fits up to a 6.5" (165mm) wrist including the 1" gap 1.7" or 43mm wide. Center stone approx 23mm x 14mm, smaller stones approx 16mm x 9mm. 80.2 grams total weight in which I think approximately 15 grams(75 carats) could be in stones very easily. This bracelet came from a significant collection of c1970's Native American jewelry. There was nothing extremely old in the collection and also nothing modern. While I don't know the story on the formation of the collection, my hypothesis is it was formed on a vacation or two to New Mexico during the 70's. All of the items were high quality. While anyone with eyes can see this is amazing, this bracelet would not have broke the bank in the 70's. It would have been appreciated at the time, but a very small fraction of the appreciation it would receive today. There were other pieces in this collection from the same era with values in excess of 10k, there were 5 Preston Monongye bracelets in theis collection. This bracelet has no artisan or purity markings whatsoever which would be appropriate for the early to mid 70's when i believe this bracelet was made. I believe it was made before the rarity of the stones was understood. Obviously it's a well made bracelet with obviously beautiful stones. I feel less than half of the artisan's of this period were marking their work. I was born in 1975, I didn't mine these stones, nor have I owned any other Lander Blue that I know of as it's extremely rare. It's the type of thing you could look your whole life for and never find. I have compared it to other stones I have including Chinese Hubei spiderweb turquoise which wasn't introduced to the US until the 80's. It's significantly different. I have ran this by some people which a lot more experience than me, people that have had/seen Lander Blue in person and the consensus was it's Lander Blue. I've spent much time myself looking over Charles Loloma's and other documented pieces that are without a doubt Lander Blue and I'm convinced. Unconditional guarantee no questions asked return privileges, also I would be happy to facilitate an in person inspection. Have you heard of Lander Blue Turquoise, the rarest turquoise in the world? In 1973, Rita Hapgood, a Blackjack dealer from the battle mountain, Nevada, went hiking with her sisters. While out hiking, she found some really fine-looking turquoise rocks. She then went back and filed a mining claim along Indian Creek, which borders the Lander ranch and Lander county. Rita then sold the claim to Marvin Simes and Hank Dorian, who then brought in Bob Johnson to work the mine. A "Hat" Mine The land of mine turned out to be a hat mine, which is a way of saying that the mine was so small that you could cover it with your hat. Only about a hundred pounds of high-grade Turquoise were extracted. Lander Blue Turquoise is now considered to be the finest and most rare turquoise in the world. It is known for its beautiful medium to deep blue spider webbing pattern against a dark, almost iridescent-looking matrix.

c1978 Frank Patania Jr Southwestern modernist sterling bolo with turquoise and 100 peso Mexican coin. Bolo is 94 grams without the box of course. Comes with original Thunderbird shop box (3 out of 4 corners are split on box top. Bolo slide is 2.5" tall x 2 3/8" wide 38" long. I think this piece had to have been made in 1978, the year the coin was issued, a year or two later at the most. The training Frank Jr. received was a breath of fresh air in the history of contemporary American craft. To understand the importance of this instruction, one must look to Frank Sr., who came to America with his experience of the apprenticeship system from Italy in the wake of the Industrial Revolution. This had a lasting effect on the handmade tradition. Mass production became apart of everyday life. The need for the services of skilled, educated artisans declined, as did the apprenticeship programs that trained them. It was accepted that mass production pieces were in general of better quality than what most people could make. Many craftsmen were forced to close shop and join in the factory ranks as designers. The effect of mass production on jewelry design is evident with a glance of any "Sears and Roebuck" catalogues of the early 20th century. Since these products were being made for the masses, designs were often "dumbed down", reflecting "safe" motifs repeatedly rooted in past trends. Reproduction became the national aesthetic. There were however, "pockets" within the United States that were exceptions. The Kalo Shops and Roycrofter, for example, were teaching apprenticeship programs, but they were small factors compared to the overwhelming impact of mass production.Like many first generation American children, Frank Jr. was encouraged to follow a formal education. Interestingly, he did not choose applied arts, but rather American History, with a minor in Anthropology. Reflecting on his choices, he believes his father would have thought a degree in applied arts would have been "a waste of time," because nothing could compare to the crafts education he had already imparted to his son.By the time Frank Jr. joined the shop full-time, the climate towards crafts had undergone a major change. Postwar America witnessed an explosion in the development of architecture, industrial design, and the handcrafts. For the first time in decades, craft was enjoying a newfound appreciation, much of which was due to en masse support of craftsmen through universities and crafts schools. An indication of the health of the contemporary jewelry movement can be seen in the surge of important exhibitions during the 40s and 50s. The Museum of Modern Art in NYC took an important step by promoting the first major exhibition of contemporary jewelry in 1946. Magazines like Design Quarterly and Craft Horizon (now American Craft) devoted full sections to design and contemporary jewelry.By the 1950s, a number of people were making contemporary jewelry on a professional scale. That same year, The American Craft council held its first conference, attended by over 450 crafts men and women from 30 states. During the three day conference they addressed many concerns of the young craftsman, including: 1) the craftsmen's relationship to society in economics and social aesthetics; 2) design importance as it related to techniques; and 3) problems in professional practices in the small business. While many young craftsmen in the United States were just addressing these issues for the first time, The Thunderbird Shop of Tucson and Santa Fe had already found resolution in regards to these problems and had implemented them in to a system that allowed the creativity of the shop to flourish while maintaining financial success.Today, Frank, Jr. and his wife Donna travel between Tucson and Santa Fe. Frank, Jr. says he is grateful for the life he has been given, acknowledging his joy in being able to do what his loves for a living and finally arriving at a place in which he can create the pieces he chooses without the pressures of the market. (Fig 25-27) He looks to his son, Sam, to carry on the family name and traditions, recognizing the struggle of a young designer with a family and the pressures to meet payroll while still maintain ones own inimitable style.

It is my personal means of expression, of reaching out, of sharing my world and the wonder I find within it. The marvels of nature infuse my work, whether realistic or abstract. I am blessed, now, to live by the sea, where endless horizons meet marvelous sunrises and the sound of the gull, the heron, the crane mingle with the music of wind whistling in the palms. Every turn in my life brings new inspiration. My art is a delightful journey of never ending exploration. I find joy in each experience and delight when the viewer findS Something within my work that reaches out to them. I will never paint all the things that call to me but I shall surely try. Enjoy Anita Diebel is recognized for her sensitive water-media and collage paintings that resonate with layers of color and texture. An intuitive painter, her work evolves from an inner spirit as she responds to the interaction of colors and shapes, line and rhythm. Each painting is the combination of many layers: painted, collaged, obscured, found, hidden, enhanced and melded into the whole as the many events in our lives serve to make us who we are, a combination of that which has gone before, that which we experience and that of which we dream. Diebel's paintings hang in private and corporate collections throughout the US and abroad. Her work has been honored with awards at local, national and international levels. She has attained signature status in Texas Watercolor Society, Southwest Watercolor Society and Western Federation of Watercolor Society. b41
