6 3/8" Navajo Ike Wilson (1900-1942) sterling and turquoise cuff bracelet. No issues, weight and measurements in pics. Solid sterling. Diné silversmith Ike Wilson worked for many years for the Kelsey Trading Company at Zuni. He did silverwork for many of the Zuni lapidary artists including Ida Vacit Poblano. He often collaborated with his wife, Katherine Wilson. Navajo Nation artist Ike Wilson (1900-1942) would sign his creations with his bow and arrow hallmark. There has been some confusion in the past about the hallmark of Ike Wilson (1901-1942). It seems that sometimes his work was attributed to Austin Wilson. Both men were born in the same year and in a similar area of the reservation and both men worked at times for trader C. G. Wallace and the Kelsey Trading Company. Ike Wilsons work is signed with a bow and arrow. After his death in 1942, his wife Katherine Wilson (1907-1985) continued to use his hallmark. The bow and arrow hallmark was initially attributed to Ikes contemporary, Austin Wilson, but the corrected attribution was published in Messier, 2014.

6.375" Jared Chavez San Felipe Sterling silver heavily worked cuff bracelet
6 3/8" Jared Chavez San Felipe Sterling silver heavily worked bracelet, clean
with no issues. Unmarked, purchased directly from the Artist in 2002. With
obvious quality, style, and workmanship. I've had quite a few both Richard and
Jared Chavez pieces that weren't marked but were purchased directly from them.

Jared J. Chavez
I began my journey as an artist learning to craft jewelry from my father,
Richard I Chavez, a renowned lapidary artist. I was not given exact direction as
to what to make but was only given the tools and instruction on how to use them.
Along the way my work would be critiqued by my father and I would continually
strive to evolve my designs and fabrication processes. He stressed the quality
of the design and construction making sure that every aspect of a piece looked
“finished” and no corners were cut.

Along with all that I learned in my father’s studio, I would receive a Bachelor
of Arts from Georgetown University in Studio Arts with a focus in Digital Art
and Printmaking. After I graduated, I would attend The Revere Academy of Jewelry
Arts’, Intensive Bench Jeweler Program in San Francisco. Each of these
educational experiences added a particular technical or visual aspect to my work
and would encourage me to continue to explore all the ways I could enhance my
designs.

My current work focuses on the reflective nature of polished silver. Though
fabrication, metal stamping, and some casting, I explore how light and
reflection interacts with the materials I utilize. I’ve found that polished
silver takes in the colors and the light of the world around, and through the
use of surface texture a dynamic play of light is created across the surface of
my designs. I further enhance my work thought the use of semi-precious stones
(agates, quartz, jades, etc.). However one of the most important qualities in my
selection of stones is often translucency. I’ve found that by allowing light to
shine though a stone an overall rich and warm effect is created in the overall
design.

Along with my yearly schedule of shows where I sell my designs, I’ve also made
it a point to educate the public about my work. Growing up in my father’s
studio, I always saw just how much of himself he put into his designs and how
sometimes he was met with disbelief as to how much work was put into his pieces.
I found this to be a similar case when I entered the business, as the general
public only sees the finished piece. For that reason, though in person
demonstrations and self-produced video mini-documentaries, we’ve made it a point
to show the skill, time, and passion that goes into every design. I continually
strive to evolve my work and hold every design to the exacting standards that my
father established when he created Chavez Studio 50 years ago.

All precious metals are tested and guaranteed, any Native American jewelry
referred to as Silver or Sterling is guaranteed to be a minimum of 90% (coin)
silver and possibly higher content. Anything marked is guaranteed to be what
it's marked, most bracelets are photographed on a 6" wrist (non hairy), rings
photographed on the appropriate sized finger when possible. 6.375" Art Tafoya Yaqui Carved Amber silver cuff bracelet
6 3/8" Art Tafoya Yaqui Carved Amber silver cuff bracelet, great one of kind work of wearable art.

Few silversmiths match the power and artistry of Art Tafoya. He specializes in silver. Hammered silver. The old way. Art Tafoya carries on that tradition of the early masters, for he makes his own stamps and dies. Art’s clear and crisp stamp work speaks of skill and talent born of that tradition. Thick silver, hammered like leather, only deeper, brisk, clear and lovely.

Art Tafoya, silversmith and artist, learned the basics of silversmithing at the age to twelve from a blacksmith at a riding stable near his home. Later he learned the art of making handmade stamps and dies from Carlos White Eagle, a former student of the legendary Navajo silversmith Fred Peshlakai. Art has made an exhaustive study of Fred Peshlakai’s stamps and is an expert at identifying even unsigned work by this master. All of Art’s stamps and dies are his own creations. He specializes in hand stamped old-style jewelry reminiscent of Peshlakai’s, but definitely all of his own.

His original jewelry is highly sought after by collectors worldwide. He was a silversmith in residence at The Turquoise Shop at Knotts Berry Farm in California for twenty-five years before relocating to New Mexico. His work may be found in the permanent collection of the Albuquerque Museum, the Grove Encyclopedia of American Art and his work is included in the book Navajo Silversmith Fred Peshlakai, His Life and Art.

Marked or unmarked as shown in pics, weight and other measurements in pics. 6 3/8" Albert Nells Navajo silver high grade spiderweb turquoise cuff bracelet. Solid sterling silver. Will fit up to a 6 3/8" wrist, gap size and other measurements in pictures. Clean with no issues. Very high grade natural American turquoise used in this bracelet. Albert Nells was raised in Cedar Springs, Arizona and now makes his home in Flagstaff with his wife, Marylou and their four children. He is a self-taught artist and started in leather work. Many of his jewelry designs come from leather applied to silver. Albert calls his signature technique “wire design with channel inlay. Albert considers himself a traditionalist, believing in the traditional Navajo ways. He participates in Navajo ceremonies in the “Beauty Way. One method the artist represents his culture in his jewelry-making is through the use of all-natural, four-color stones that can be seen in each piece he makes. These sacred colors of blue, red, white, and black represent the four directions and four sacred mountains for the Navajo people. One could consider Alberts work to have quite the modern, sleek design; while still having genuine cultural richness, Albert makes jewelry with an aesthetic that fits well in the contemporary world. His children do some jewelry work and enjoy painting. Albert shows his work at Indian Market, the Southwestern Art Festival, and The Heard Museum Show and he says he always takes home a ribbon.

6.375" 20's-30's Navajo ingot silver conchos snake eye turquoise cuff bracelet

All precious metals are tested and guaranteed. A Native American jewelry piece referred to as "silver" or "ingot" is guaranteed to be at least 90% silver. I rarely use the word "sterling" when referring to older Native American silver or really any older silver jewelry as silver contents vary and "sterling" is 92.5% silver. No older jewelry is going to be exactly 92.5% silver, some a little over, some a little under. It wasn‘t an exact thing with handmade jewelry. I‘ve seen thousands of pieces xrf‘d to prove this. Bracelets are photographed on a 6" women‘s wrist.
