Huge 1920's Futura North Carolina Art Pottery Vase

Description

Huge 1920's Futura North Carolina Art Pottery Vase. Very nice, large piece of pottery. I've seen a considerably smaller version of this with one less step due to being 50% smaller attributed to Duck Teague this one is 11.5" tall x 7" wide slight glaze wear on top rim and flat base. No large chips, no cracks, no restorations. This Item was collected in 1978 in North Carolina, a pottery loving couple whom I'm currently selling stuff for took a trip to NC in 1978 and filled the truck up with pottery old and new at the time.

I believe this to be an extremely rare NC pottery vase from the shop of Bryan "Duck" Teague, circa late 1920's. Duck Teague, along with his brothers, Charlie and Jimmy, operated the old shop located in Hemp (now called Robbins) NC. Teague's, along with the Auman's, and Cole's were among the earliest NC shops producing what the called "Fancy Wares", or as we call it today, Art Pottery. Sometime in the mid to late 1920's, the Teague's came out with a group of vase shapes that have since been dubbed "Futura", for the resemblance in geometric forms that are quite similar to some of Roseville's Futura line of 1928. So far, only 6 to 8 different shapes from this line have been documented.
