Calvin Martinez is a self-taught Navajo silversmith, who has been making jewelry for over 20 years. Calvin Martinez - born 1960 -draws his creative inspiration from his Navajo heritage. I look to the old silversmiths and my culture. There would not be a Calvin Martinez silversmith without the Navajo tradition to guide me“.
He comes from a well- known family of silversmiths; his brother Terry Martinez, is also a well-known silversmith. Calvins jewelry is made with traditional old techniques, he makes everything by hand, including hand cutting his bezels. He only uses high quality natural stones in his work.
