8" Fritson Toledo Navajo for Les Baker (1935-2014) Sterling Overlay and stamped
bangle. 8" inside circumference, 1.25" wide.

Fritson Toledo has been metalsmithing for over forty years. Fritson is a Navajo
artist who has been working as a serious silversmith since he was a teenager.
New Mexico in September of 1961 to Mae and Chee Toledo, Fritson grew up in
Torreon, NM. Growing up in a farming community located in a valley framed by the
Jemez Mountains, he passed his time drawing. Although he comes from a family of
weavers, Fritson found his artistic voice at a very early age while observing
his father working in their home as a silversmith. Fritson then taught himself
the art of jewelry-making using his father’s tools on the pieces of scrap silver
he left behind. Fritson eventually learned how to make his own tools and stamps
for silversmithing. He has clearly become a jewelry master using only the
highest quality stones.
Les Baker (1935-2014), southwest artist from New Mexico, was born in 1935. Les
learned to silversmith in 1962 when his wife at the time wanted a squash blossom
necklace. Les could not afford to buy one for her so he went out and bought the
tools to do so. At a Christmas party, Mrs. Maisel asked where she got the
necklace and his told her that her husband made it. From there upon request from
Mrs. Maisel, Les went to work for the Maisels. Les has also worked for Carl
Louthy, Navajo. Over the years, he has had many silversmiths that have worked
for him such as Fritson Toledo, Johnny Watson and Harry Sandoval.

All precious metals are tested and guaranteed, any Native American jewelry
referred to as Silver or Sterling is guaranteed to be a minimum of 90% (coin)
silver and possibly higher content. The Hopi Arts & Crafts Co-op Guild was formed in
1947, after World War II, when returning Hopi servicemen were trained at a
silversmithing school founded under the G.I. bill. From tabletop sculpture to monuments, his work is displayed in homes,
offices, and public settings around the world.

Mark Hopkins’ work is in everyway, a reflection of its creator. It reveals
Mark’s total fascination with nearly every conceivable aspect of life: from
history, children, sports, music and to wildlife of the land, sea and air. With
a style so flowing and alive it has been called “bronze in motion,” the work is
as passionate and expressive as the artist himself.

For as long as he can remember, Mark has been captivated by form and design.
From the time he was young boy, with the encouragement of family and teachers,
he worked to develop his innate talent, and explore the various techniques and
mediums of sculpture.

In addition to his skill as an artist, Mark made himself a technical expert in
the art of “lost wax” bronze casting. At the Mark Hopkins Sculpture foundry,
Mark monitors the casting process, insuring that the integrity of his work is
maintained throughout its creation in bronze. With the help of many talented
craftsmen, Mark endeavors to establish an enduring legacy of high-quality bronze
sculpture.

It has taken half a lifetime for Mark to attain his preeminent status in the
world of art. For many years, the necessity of providing for his large family
took Mark into other, more traditional vocations. Throughout those years,
though, Mark never stopped sculpting. He knew in his heart that it was the work
he was born to do. From the many challenges and experiences of his life came a
remarkably unique style of art.

Mark Hopkins constantly challenges himself to translate the richness of life and
nobility of the human soul into enduring sculptural form. In his words, “I
strive to express beyond the image, to catch spirit, to reveal deeper emotions,
and to share joy.” As he continues to rise to that challenge, his work is
attaining an honored place in the history of art.

sz7.75 Felicita Eustace (1927-2016) Cochiti pueblo sterling carved turquoise and coral ring 8 grams. Felicita Eustace Felicita was born in 1927 and raised at Cochiti Pueblo. She learned to make traditional pottery and storytellers from her parents. After her marriage during the World War II years, she moved to her husband Ben’s home in Zuni. Ben taught her some basics of jewelry-making. She sold her first ring to legendary Zuni trader C.G. Wallace. Over the years she become and accomplished jeweler in her own right, while developing a large following for her pottery and storytellers. “There are always more orders for my claywork than there’s time to do them,” she said. The Eustaces show strong respect for the materials and time-honored processes of their art. Felicita still makes her storytellers the traditional way. Her jewelry features an old family design copyrighted in the early 1960s: a domed, natural leave motif in sterling silver alongside a carved, bezeled and polished turquoise stone. Felicita and Ben have passed their respect for quality on to their 13 children, many of whom create their own pottery and jewelry.Daughter Bernadette Eustace says, “My parents told us that if we were going to do jewelry at all, we would have to do it their way, the right way. It wasn’t the designs they were talking about, it was the technical aspects of our work: setting stones, welds, engravings and so on. They were the ones who would be selling these items for us, so they would make sure that a certain standard of quality was being met.”All precious metals are tested and guaranteed,

Sothis Spirit of the Moon 2 Automatic Chronograph men's watch. Limited edition 18/500, extremely clean only worn a few times condition, Authentic Breitling leather band with Sothis Hardware. This is a really beautiful and difficult to find watch, no box or paperwork, fully functional working condition with no significant cosmetic issues. SOTHIS watch brand was founded by Wolfgang Steinkrüger in 1996 in Bielefeld, Germany. The first model produced by the brand is “SPIRIT OF MOON”; with a diameter of 39mm and 3 different face variations. In 1998 the “Spirit of the moon” won a prize in the “Goldene Unruh” competition in Basel. The brand name SOTHIS is inspired by the Greek name of the Egyptian dess Sopdet. In the astrology, SOTHIS can be compared with the star SIRIUS which is to be found in the constellation of CANIS MAJOR (Big Dog). As the brightest star in the northern winter sky, this star was celebrated in the old Egyptian mythology as the dess SOTHIS who showed the old Egyptians not only the changing of the old to new years, but also the times when the River Nile would be flooded, thus flooding the fields with fertile Nile sediment which resulted in a good harvest. Sothis watches are equipped with the Chronograph calibres from the company ETA (7750, 7751, 7753 and 7754), with the exception of the calibre 2025 from Dubois Depraz. All parts are finely decorated with Pearl, Geneva stripes and tainted blue screws. Each automatic movement has a gold plated rotor with the engraved constellation of the Great Dog (CANIS MAJOR) and the brand logo in silver. Initially, the movements, hands and all other parts of the SOTHIS watches were sourced from the established suppliers based in Switzerland. Each watch was assembled exclusively in the Bielefeld workshop. After a while, the company started to use watch parts made in Germany except movements and hands. In December 2012, the brand was acquired by new owners after the demise of Wolfgang Steinkrüger in March 2012. In 2013, the new owners transferred the production to Switzerland. Edward Hald (1883-1980) for Orrefors, Graal Fish Vase 1963 Mid century Modern.
This impressive vase designed by Edward Hald is extremely heavy and thick
walled. The flash pattern depicts a series of fish and sea weeds. The aquarium
effect is significantly enhanced by the reflection of the flashed pattern on the
inner walls of the glass vase.Dimensions: 4.75 tal, 6 pounds. Condition: Very
good. No chips, cracks or repairs. Wear consistent with age; some light
scratches mainly on base as it's very heavy. Signature: "Orrefors Graal vr 310t
Edward Hald" script on the base.

A Note About the Artist: Edward Hald (1883-1980) trained as an architect and
painter. He studied in Dresden, Stockholm, Copenhagen and Paris. His time in
Copenhagen included work under Johan Rohde; in Paris he worked under Matisse. In
1917, Hald worked briefly at Rorstrand, and then began his long association with
Orrefors. At the time Edward Hald joined Orrefors in 1917, the early experiments
of Simon Gate and the master glassblower, Knudt Bergkvist, for the Graal
technique were still evolving. The Graal technique used acid etching or wheel
carving to create thin designs in relief on the surface of multilayer, glass
blanks. The carved blanks were then heated to a molten state by glassblowers,
encased with an additional layer of clear glass to entrap the design, and
finally worked with blowing to a finished state. The result was literally,
"painting within the glass".Edward Hald created some of the earliest designs to
use the Graal method. He continued to work in Graal throughout his long career,
including the heavy "Fish Graal" pieces first shown in 1937. Also "Slip Graal"
and "Aqua Graal" were favored techniques. Hald also designed many important
engraved pieces such as the "Fireworks" bowl. He retired from Orrefors in 1978.

sale - www.estatefreshaustin.com Estate Fresh Austin 1856 Texas Governors Elisha M. Pease/Edward Clark Signed Document
1856 Texas Governors Elisha M. Pease/Edward Clark Signed Document. Interesting
document because it's signed by the Current Governor at the time Elisha Pease
and the Then Secretary of state and later Governor for a short time Edward
Clark. 12" x 16" document in 20" x 15" matting. It's loosely mounted to thick
framing paper and could easily be removed for re-matting. Expected toning with
no major issues, embossed state of Texas seal that may not show in the pics.

Clark moved to Texas in 1842 and set up a law practice.[1] He served in the
Texas Annexation Convention and two terms as a state representative in the Texas
Legislature. During the Mexican–American War he served on the staff of Major
General J. Pinckney Henderson and fought in the Battle of Monterrey.[2] When the
war ended, he served as secretary of state under Governor Elisha M. Pease and as
lieutenant governor serving under Governor Sam Houston.[1] When Sam Houston
refused to take an oath of allegiance to the Confederacy, Clark became
governor.[2]

Slave quarters of Edward Clark's home in Austin. He enslaved nine people.
Among Clark's first actions was to order the surrender of all fire arms and
ammunition from private merchants to the state. Furthermore, all privately owned
firearms were to be canvassed. Few weapons were ever turned in and most Texans
did not comply for fear of future confiscation.

After losing the governor's race by 124 votes to Francis Lubbock, Clark became a
colonel in the Texas militia during the American Civil War. In 1863 he joined
the Confederate States Army and was commissioned colonel of the 14th Texas
Infantry Regiment. He commanded the unit, as part of the Greyhound Division,
until being wounded in the Battle of Pleasant Hill.[1] A promotion to brigadier
general wasn´t confirmed by the Confederate Congress and he left the service;
however, in 1865 he was made a brigadier in the militia. He fled briefly to
Mexico at the end of the American Civil War, and returned home to Marshall,
Texas.[1]

Elisha Pease bio

Texas Republic
A native of Enfield, Connecticut, Pease moved to Mexican Texas in 1835. He soon
became active in the Texas independence movement and after the Texas Revolution
began, Pease became the secretary of the provisional government. He served as
the assistant secretary at the Convention of 1836 but was not an elected
delegate to the Convention. After independence had been won, Pease was named the
comptroller of public accounts in the government of the new but temporary
Republic of Texas.

Texas State
Following the annexation of Texas to the United States, Pease was elected to the
Texas House of Representatives in 1845 and reelected in 1847. In 1849, he ran
for the Texas Senate from District 11 (Brazoria and Galveston counties) but lost
to John B. Jones who was sworn in on November 5, 1849. Pease contested the
election, was declared the winner, and was sworn in four days later on November
9, 1849.

Pease first ran for governor in 1851 but withdrew from the race two weeks before
the election. He was elected in each of the next two elections, 1853 and 1855.
As governor, he paid off the state debt and established the financial foundation
that the state would later use to finance its schools and colleges.

In 1856, surveyor Jacob de Córdova of the Galveston, Houston, and Henderson
Railroad Company named a newly discovered river in West Texas the "Pease River"
after the governor.

The E. M. Pease Middle School is located at 201 Hunt Lane across from El Sendero
subdivision in the Northside Independent School District in San Antonio, Texas.
Civil War and aftermath
During the American Civil War, Pease sided with the Union. He nonetheless
enslaved several people; census records show ten enslaved people living and
laboring at Pease's Austin plantation in 1860.[2] After the war, he became a
leader in the state Republican Party and was appointed as the civilian governor
of Texas in 1867 by General Philip H. Sheridan, who was the military head of the
Reconstruction government. Pease's policies as governor alienated both
ex-Unionists and ex-Confederates and he resigned in 1869.

Elisha and his wife donated land to the City of Austin that would eventually
become Pease Park.

Pease died of apoplexy in Lampasas, Texas. 1980 Chihuly student William Morris Art Glass vase height: 10 1/2 inches, width:
10 1/2 inches, depth: 3 1/2 inches. Absolutely no damage or wear whatsoever.
This vase represents his early work he was producing at Pilchuck while gaffing
for Dale Chihuly.

William Morris was born in Carmel, California in 1957. He is an American glass
artist who has been able to change the history of art within his lifetime.
Morris was educated at California State University in Chico, California as well
as Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington. In 1978, Morris
arrived at the Pilchuck Glass School and found work initially as a driver.
Later, he worked with Dale Chihuly, the founder of the school, and eventually
became his chief gaffer in the 1980s. Morris remained with Chihuly for about 10
years as his chief assistant before deciding to form his own studio and develop
his own artistic style of glass blowing.

For more than twenty-five years, William Morris has captivated and intrigued the
art community with hauntingly evocative and beautiful glass sculptures. He has
captured the imagination time and again by creating objects that appear to be
ancient stone or woodcarvings, not the modern glass sculptures they actually
are. His art speaks of human origins, myth, ancestry, and ancient civilizations.
It symbolizes a harmony between humanity and nature and provides a ghost-like
bond to the world around us – a world that is often forgotten, ignored, and
abused.

Morris gathers much of his inspiration from ancient cultures from around the
world – Egyptian, Asian, Native American – all peoples who respected and admired
the land they inhabited. Because of this, Morris’s artwork has become something
all its own: culturally distinct and yet familiar to all cultures. His pieces
embody a spiritual quality that sharply contrasts old beliefs with those of the
modern world. These objects speak to our senses and continuously beg us to
explore them further.

Morris achieved much success during his career and retired in 2007. He spent
over twenty-five years honing his skills and pushing the medium of glass further
than anyone, including himself, could ever have imagined.

Morris’ work can be found in numerous public collections including:

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY; Corning Museum of Glass, Corning,
NY; American Glass Museum, Millville, NJ; Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art,
Hokkaido, Japan; Musee Des Arts Decoratifs, Paris, France; Auckland Museum,
Auckland, New Zealand and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, England.

sale - www.estatefreshaustin.com Estate Fresh Austin sz9.5 Konstantino 18k/sterling Chalcedony ring
sz 9.5 Konstantino 18k/Sterling Chalcedony ring. 14 grams, decent size, very well made, authentic, uncommon ring with no significant issues.4,000 BC In the heart of the Mediterranean, generations of alchemists, artisans and goldsmiths explored the depths of earth's most valued materials. Gold, silver, bronze and precious stones inspired the creation of fine jewelry, a creative expression of human intelligence. Through the ages, Greek goldsmiths have estab- lished an exceptionally unique presence in the history of fine jewelry, evident across the Mediterra- nean, spanning through the Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic and Byzantine eras of Greece. The indestructible nature of fine jewelry exudes -like qualities, a timelessness that surpasses the ages of style and trend. The Konstantino style emerged from the roots of these traditions, paving the way for its own unique style, one re-defining the blueprint of the classical Greek identity.1958: Birth of a legend Konstantino was born in Filiadona, a small village outside Athens where the Ancient city of Melitea once stood. There he watched his father closely as he worked on the farm, building machines and tools of his own. Here Konstantino developed a great appre- ciation for the art of hand craftsmanship.1978: A musical influence Following his love for music, the young Konstantino became a disc jockey in the city of Athens, playing everything from Carlos Santana to Lou Reed. These icons and many more, inspired a stylistic fluidity that introduced an essence of glam rock to the scene. By way of music, Konstantino began curating his own aesthetic identity, as a creative mind and style icon. Where, these legends continue to influence the rule breaking spirit that drives the design team at Konstantino to this day. about-image-4 1983: Jewelry saved my life Konstantino fled the music scene of Athens in search of an oasis, he took a trip to the island of Hydra where he lived for the next 15 years. It was on this magical island, where Konstantino fell in love with jewelry. He began collecting and curating jewelry, whereby in 1988 the first Konstantino store opened.1991: Annette Hydra is not only the birthplace of Konstantinos love for Jewelry but was also where he met his soon to be wife and creative partner, Annette. Together, from the ground up, Konstantino Jewelry soon estab- lished its presence in the US and global market.1998: Global Impact As the admiration and craze for Konstantino spread, the dream continued to grow, where now our designs can be found in 10 countries globally. With the addition of a longstanding presence in Neimans, Sax, etc. etc. Konstantino is proud to represent an evolution of the Greek style to the world of fine jewel- ry lovers.2016: A Family Future Konstantino and Annette’s children, Julian and Phaedra joined the team, further continuing the legacy of love, risk, and passion for gold smithery and design. This new generation leads with humility, knowledge and a natural instinct for the dynamic of the Konstantino brand. Preserving the core philoso- phies of the brand and expanding on its already established style, is a challenge that’s been taken on with confidence. Most rings are shown on a a ring sizer in the pictures and the size is typically given at the beginning of the title and description. Size 9 Ring.

Huge Antique Miners Presentation Pocket Watch 50mm works 70mm case 58mm dial in
vintage customized art glass desk caddy. This is an amazing very big watch, The
works measure 2" or 50mm, this would be a 23 size if there were such a thing
which I don't think there is. Also it is in an extra large case. I believe the
watch to be from the last quarter of the 19th century, the holder was likely
made later and the watch was likely offered as a presentation gift in the holder
at a later date. WTG could stand for West Texas Gas or West Texas Gulf, maybe.
The desk caddy is extremally heavy and 4" tall. The watch works and appears to
keep good time, it has minor damage to the porcelain dial at the base of the
dial. The case is French marked Depose, works are Swiss with no other
identifying marks.
