Julian Lovato (1922-2018) Kewa Sterling Mediterranean coral concho belt 2.75" x 2" buckle, (9) 2.5" x 1 5/8" conchos. No isssues, I‘ll follow up with length and weight. Since 1948, the Southwest has offered the world distinctive and unusual jewelry of Julian Lovato. His work has the individual stamp of a creative craftsman, yet the tradition of the Native American Southwest is evident. Lovato express his own sophisticated modern designs in handmade sterling silver and gold jewelry and objects of art. Coral and turquoise are the traditional gemstones of the Southwestern Indian, "the most valuable thing to possess, something to treasure, the way people want to have a diamond no matter what price," Lovato explains. He designs each piece of jewelry around the stone, selecting the finest turquoise and coral available. Lovato‘s love of turquoise goes back to his childhood: Santo Domingo Pueblo is renown for turquoise bead making and silversmithing. His father and grandfather both worked with turquoise. Upon his father‘s death, Lovato got a job at age thirteen cutting stones at Maisels in Albuquerque. Later, he spent several years with a similar operation in Kansas City. Then in 1948 he had the great fortune of becoming apprentice to the internationally distinguished Italian silversmith, Frank Patania. Patania came to Santa Fe in 1924. He brought with his a new sense of design elegance to Southwestern jewelry. During his years at Patinia‘s Thunderbird Shop in Santa Fe, Lovato was responsible for the silver monogram that became the Thunderbird specialty: contemporary buckles, cufflinks, brooches and rings. Patania and Lovato also made sterling silver pitchers, bowls, teapots and trays. Whereas most traditional Native American jewelry is flatwork, either stamped or overlay, Lovato has adopted the techniques and design elements learned from Patania into what he calls a raised or dimensional jewelry design. Lovato‘s bracelets curve not only along it‘s length, but also softly across the width. The bezels hold the stones elevated from the surface, so that the turquoise or coral stones appear to float above the surface. The effect of suspension contrasts with the second characteristic of Lovato‘s style- a deliberate look of weight in the metalwork. Lovato uses substantial sheets of sterling silver and gold, giving an importance to the metal work. However, the exquisite balance and craftsmanship belie the weight of the metal. Julian Lovato combines tradition and innovation, and the permanence of metal and stone with the elusive grace and beauty of design in works of art which will endure. "I have strong feelings about the things I do. I‘d like to leave something behind someday when I am gone. Something that people can remember me by, something that is worthwhile. I‘d like somebody to think of me as a silversmith whose work can be treasured. I think my work can speak for itself." All precious metals are tested and guaranteed,

Karl Heinz Stittgen (1930 - 2023) 18k/Sterling chrysocolla pendant/necklace. 28" necklace, solid 18k gold slab at the top of the bezel/pendant. I know it didn‘t photograph well due to contrasts and time limitations but it‘s great. No issues, weights and measurements in pics. STITTGEN, Karl Heinz 1930 - 2023 Karl Stittgen emigrated from Germany in the early 1950s and established himself as a prominent jeweller and watchmaker in West Vancouver. His creations soon gained global recognition and consequently he opened additional Stittgen stores in Calgary, New York and San Francisco. In his golden years, he trained many Master Goldsmiths who carry on his traditions and techniques today. Karl Stittgens profound impact on both local and international jewellery design was honoured in 2009, when he received the Creative Achievement Award of Distinction at the 5th annual British Columbia Creative Achievement Awards for Applied Art and Design. Karl was born in Bad Durkheim, Germany, and emigrated to Canada in 1952 at the age of 21. Although trained as a watchmaker, his creative urge led him to try his hand at jewelry making, where he gained the confidence of a loyal clientele drawn to his discerning eye for design. His reputation soon spread globally, and he expanded with stores in Calgary, New York, and San Francisco. Karl‘s loyal clients, recognizing his sense of style, taste, and precision, convinced him to design and furnish the unique homes of a very select few. Karl‘s first wife, Gabrielle Pontoppidan, whom he married in 1961, admired and supported these forays into new areas of creative work. Karl‘s second wife, Nora Sasaki, was a talented artist who complemented his vision and unique creative style. Together, they designed and built an exquisite architectural landmark home, "Halcyon Days," on Pender Island. The home reflected Karl‘s admiration for Frank Lloyd Wright in every detail. Both Karl and Nora took great delight in hosting many different creative people on the island and visitors from all over the world, entertaining them with a feast for all senses in their home. They were also renowned for their generosity towards the artistic community on Pender Island and beyond. Well into his eighties, Karl began working in the new medium of ceramics. His studio was a place where he cultivated imagination and had the incredible self-assurance to traverse new and uncharted territory. To see his creations, free in form but precise in construction, was to be in the presence of genius. Karl‘s childhood was difficult, bereft of encouragement to explore or parental affection and support. This may have forged Karl‘s inner strength and determination to become his own person strong in creative conviction with the courage to try the unthinkable. How else would a person move from being a watchmaker to a celebrated jeweler, to an architectural designer, and finally taking creativity literally back into his hands as an acclaimed ceramicist? Karl‘s creative trajectory was only possible because, as he often mentioned, he left Germany to live in Canada where he felt free to tread new terrain without formal training. In September 2009, Karl received the B.C. Creative Achievement Award of Distinction in Vancouver. He was selected for his "profound and lasting impact on applied art and design in British Columbia" and for a "lifetime of creative vision and innovation." His designs were largely inspired by organic sculptural forms found in nature. His exquisite jewelry received much critical acclaim during what some have called the golden age of design in Vancouver. All precious metals are tested and guaranteed. A Native American jewelry piece referred to as "silver" or "ingot" is guaranteed to be at least 90% silver. I rarely use the word "sterling" when referring to older Native American silver or really any older silver jewelry as silver contents vary and "sterling" is 92.5% silver. No older jewelry is going to be exactly 92.5% silver, some a little over, some a little under. It wasn‘t an exact thing with handmade jewelry. I‘ve seen thousands of pieces xrf‘d to prove this. Bracelets are photographed on a 6" women‘s wrist.

His evocative paintings are<br>more than mere reflections of reality: they are a means by which he shares<br>philosophy and emotion. Using the commonplace to convey the complex, he often<br>uses old pottery, artifacts, and icons for his stark and still lifes, which many<br>find compelling. <br><br>            Fleisch began painting landscapes then moved on to architecture and<br>buildings and eventually was drawn inside to long forgotten objects sitting on<br>shelves. Fleisch now paints still lifes exclusively. His work has been described as being ‘Contemporary in Traditional Native Design. He has an Associate of Fine Arts Degree from the Institute of American Indian Arts and a BA from the California College of Art and Design. \ Ken is known for his beautiful and intricately inlaid jewelry creations using semiprecious gemstones and cutting-edge designs. Kenneth Begay Navajo White Hogan Modernist Sterling salt spoons/ironwood bowl. Selling the three Kenneth Begay salt spoons and Ironwood salt bowl shown. No issues. Weight and measurements in pics. Kenneth Begay (1913-1977) was called the “Father of Contemporary Navajo jewelry for his clean, bold, modern designs. Begay began as a blacksmith, took his first course in silversmithing from Fred Peshlakai at the Fort Wingate Vocational School for the Native Americans in Fort Wingate, New Mexico in 1938. Fred Peshlakai had been taught by his father, Slender Maker of Silver, who was trained by Atsidi Chon, one of the earliest Navajo silversmiths. Begay in turn taught traditional techniques of silversmithing to his own students from 1968-1973 at Navajo Community College in Many Farms, Arizona. In 1946, Begay started working with John Bonnell at the White Hogan shop in Flagstaff, Arizona, beginning an 18 year relationship. In collaboration with Bonnell, Begay moved Indian jewelry beyond personal adornment and into the arena of pure metalsmithing making, amongst other things, flatware sets, plates, boxes, and vessels of various kinds. Although highly unusual at this time among silversmiths, 1951-1952, he also began signing his jewelry using KB. When working for the White Hogan he additionally stamped his pieces with a small hogan. A master metalsmith, Kenneth Begay was very creative and strongly influenced by his traditional background. In his jewelry this translated to a balance between silver, stone and bold but unpretentious designs. He created clean, elegant designs based on streamlined shapes that were repeated to form balanced and harmonious patterns, a style that has been compared to Navajo weaving. Although he used and taught the old techniques, Begay explained near the end of his life, “I like to create something new and still use the old Navajo design style. Kirk Smith Navajo Sterlng silver and turquoise bolo tie with fancy tips

    Out of stock

Kirk Smith Navajo Sterlng silver and turquoise bolo tie with fancy tips. Solid sterling silver (tested) with no issues. Weight and measurements in pictures. Overall good condition, tested sterling, marked as shown. 47" long. Native American jewelry artisan Kirk Smith, or Kiyaa Alani Shush Dine (his Dine tribe name, meaning “towering house bear people clan), created a long-lasting legacy in a tragically short life. His work is highly regarded for its quality craftsmanship and his use of stones of only the highest quality and richest coloring. Kirks pieces, primarily his concho belts for which he was best known, have long been coveted and collectible, with their value only increasing as a result of his unexpected, early death. His story is an interesting one. HIS LIFE: Kirk Smith first began working with silver at around age 7 in his grandfathers hidden workshop, that according to Smiths interview with Perry Null Trading, “you would not see it unless you knew it was there. His grandfather also made jewelry and Kirk used to aid him by first learning to run the bellow to heat the charcoal that would allow his grandfather to work with the silver at high temperatures, and then eventually began to work with beads and bracelets and necklaces himself. He later used these primitive skills to craft jewelry for his uncle, who would exchange clothes and shoes for his pieces. In 1972, Kirk struck out on his own, primarily working in silver cast work, until the price of silver went up in 1974 and he went to work doing different things like working in the mine or a refinery in Galveston. He returned to jewelry making in the early 1980s when his mother got sick and he desired to be nearer to her. Thats when his craft took a turn. HIS MENTORS: Of course, his grandfather was his earliest influence, and perhaps the most profound on Kirk as a person, but when it comes to his craftsmanship, the game-changer for him was his brother-in-law. Kirks sister was married to an artisan named Harry Morgan, a well-known name in the world of Native American jewelry. Harry was known for his intricate stamp work and the way he would style his silver to give it an antique look, believing that overly polished silver hid the detailing and the beauty of a piece. It was Harry who really taught Kirk about design and style in terms of his craft. HIS CRAFT: Kirk is probably best known for his concho belts, like the one we found in Audreys closet, that we thought was too beautiful not to share with yall after being tucked away for too long. He was known for his unrelenting insistence on working his silver by hand, resulting in beautiful pieces of heavy silver and high-grade stones. In addition to concho belts, Kirk crafted gorgeous statement cuff bracelets with turquoise and red coral and some of the most striking blue lapis youve ever seen, as well as some rings, pendants, earrings, and even a few squash blossoms. As we mentioned, his work is highly collectible, not only because of its stunning beauty, but because sadly, there wont be any more made; Kirk was tragically killed in 2012. HIS DEATH: On September 17, 2012, Kirk was in an altercation in a parking lot with a young man whose truck had struck Kirks vehicle as the man was attempting to back into a parking spot. When the driver, who was intoxicated, tried to flee the scene, Kirk jumped onto the hood of the mans truck. When he was eventually unable to maintain his grip, Kirk was flung from the moving vehicle and suffered injuries which resulted in his death in an Albuquerque hospital a little while later. The driver did succeed in fleeing the scene, but eventually collided with another truck and a barrier on Interstate 25 and was apprehended after a violent struggle with police; he was found to have had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.16, twice the legal limit. Incredibly, the driver, who was 16 at the time, was only sentenced to 90 days in a treatment center and two years probation. As you might imagine, Kirks surviving family does not feel that justice was done in the wake of his death, but they are carrying on his legacy in a positive way despite the circumstances.

Konstantino 18k/Sterling Clio Collection Citron hoop earrings. 1 1/8" x .25"<br>wide with no issues, guaranteed authentic Konstantino and solid 18k gold and<br>sterling. 12.7 grams, uncommon retired design.<br><br>4,000 BC<br>In the heart of the Mediterranean, generations of alchemists, artisans and<br>goldsmiths explored the depths of earth's most valued materials. Gold, silver,<br>bronze and precious stones inspired the creation of fine jewelry, a creative<br>expression of human intelligence.<br>Through the ages, Greek goldsmiths have estab- lished an exceptionally unique<br>presence in the history of fine jewelry, evident across the Mediterra- nean,<br>spanning through the Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic and Byzantine eras of<br>Greece. The indestructible nature of fine jewelry exudes -like qualities, a<br>timelessness that surpasses the ages of style and trend. The Konstantino style<br>emerged from the roots of these traditions, paving the way for its own unique<br>style, one re-defining the blueprint of the classical Greek identity.<br><br>1958: Birth of a legend<br>Konstantino was born in Filiadona, a small village outside Athens where the<br>Ancient city of Melitea once stood. There he watched his father closely as he<br>worked on the farm, building machines and tools of his own. Here Konstantino<br>developed a great appre- ciation for the art of hand craftsmanship.<br><br>1978: A musical influence<br>Following his love for music, the young Konstantino became a disc jockey in the<br>city of Athens, playing everything from Carlos Santana to Lou Reed. These icons<br>and many more, inspired a stylistic fluidity that introduced an essence of glam<br>rock to the scene. By way of music, Konstantino began curating his own aesthetic<br>identity, as a creative mind and style icon. Where, these legends continue to<br>influence the rule breaking spirit that drives the design team at Konstantino to<br>this day.<br>about-image-4<br>1983: Jewelry saved my life<br>Konstantino fled the music scene of Athens in search of an oasis, he took a trip<br>to the island of Hydra where he lived for the next 15 years. It was on this<br>magical island, where Konstantino fell in love with jewelry. He began collecting<br>and curating jewelry, whereby in 1988 the first Konstantino store opened.<br><br>1991: Annette<br>Hydra is not only the birthplace of Konstantinos love for Jewelry but was also<br>where he met his soon to be wife and creative partner, Annette. Together, from<br>the ground up, Konstantino Jewelry soon estab- lished its presence in the US and<br>global market.<br><br>1998: Global Impact<br>As the admiration and craze for Konstantino spread, the dream continued to grow,<br>where now our designs can be found in 10 countries globally. With the addition<br>of a longstanding presence in Neimans, Sax, etc. etc. Konstantino is proud to<br>represent an evolution of the Greek style to the world of fine jewel- ry lovers.<br><br>2016: A Family Future<br>Konstantino and Annette’s children, Julian and Phaedra joined the team, further<br>continuing the legacy of love, risk, and passion for gold smithery and design.<br>This new generation leads with humility, knowledge and a natural instinct for<br>the dynamic of the Konstantino brand. Preserving the core philoso- phies of the<br>brand and expanding on its already established style, is a challenge that’s been<br>taken on with confidence.

He is perhaps best known for pieces featuring intricate mosaic inlay on spiny oyster shell that closely resemble shell inlay work found at prehistoric Southwestern sites. After removing the spines from these distinctively coral-colored shells, Homer inlaid them with white shell, turquoise and jet, creating vibrant geometric patterns. Some of his most spectacular pieces are belts with conchas of inlaid spiny oyster shell. Homer also made inlaid Knife Wings and Rainbow Gods, and he is credited with the first use of the Gan dancer as a jewelry design motif.

Zuni artists with whom Lambert Homer collaborated include Dan Simplicio, Leo Poblano, Ida Poblano, and his son Lambert Homer, Jr. He also worked with Navajo silver-workers Roger Skeet and Charlie Bitsui. Lambert, who was married to Juanita Homer, and his brother Bernard, who was married to Alice Homer, worked closely with their wives, both of whom were daughters of Leekya.

Well here it is! What you've always wanted but couldn't justify doing<br>financially or with a clear conscience. Someone did it for you about 50 years<br>ago. They did a good job it appears. Though I guess they had to drill the<br>pitcher. The pitcher is perfect otherwise with no cracks, chips, or<br>restorations. The bowl has a very tight crowsfoot on the base that doesn't go<br>through to interior. Both pieces have the expected crazing from 120 year old<br>earthenware. A couple worn glaze spots on rim of bowl, no chips or cracks. The<br>bowl is 15.75" wide, pitcher is 11.5" tall without brass hardware. Lamp and<br>switch work.<br><br>I'll include the shade if you want, but my main concern will be the careful<br>packaging of the bowl/pitcher. They will for sure reach you in the condition<br>they're currently in.

Large 1920's Muller Frères Cameo Glass Landscape vase. 12" tall x 5.25" wide<br>with no cracks, chips, or restorations. tw108<br><br>Cameo glass is a luxury form of glass art produced by cameo glass engraving or<br>etching and carving through fused layers of differently colored glass to produce<br>designs, usually with white opaque glass figures and motifs on a dark-colored<br>background. The technique is first seen in ancient Roman art of about 30 BC,<br>where it was an alternative to the more luxurious engraved gem vessels in cameo<br>style that used naturally layered semi-precious gemstones such as onyx and<br>agate. Glass allowed consistent and predictable colored layers, even for round<br>objects.<br><br>From the mid-19th century there was a revival of cameo glass, suited equally to<br>Neo-Grec taste and the French Art Nouveau practiced by Émile Gallé. Cameo glass<br>is still produced today.<br><br>Muller Frères (Co.) was an esteemed French glassmaking company based in<br>Luneville, France, famous for its Art Nouveau vases, lampshades, and<br>chandeliers, which often incorporate layered and colored glass. Their workshop<br>was established by Henri Muller and his brothers in 1895 after they trained with<br>Émile Gallé—who would retain a grudge against Muller for setting up a rival<br>enterprise. In 1910, the company began making lamps in association with Chapelle<br>and, at its height, employed around 300 workers. Production was stopped in 1933<br>and the factory closed three years later, a victim of the Great Depression.

I know nothing about this piece other than it‘s 50 years old, solid sterling, most likely American made and fantastic.
