Mel Benally is a 28 year
old Navajo jeweler from
Gallup, New Mexico. He was
introduced to silversmithing
by his older brother when he
was 17. He enjoyed creating art
through metal and soon learned
to do other techniques such as
inlay and working with gold. He
uses the style called “fuzzing”
where he solders silver saw
dust to give it a rough texture.
Mel loves making jewelry that
others will enjoy and be able to
share with their friends.!
