c1930's Navajo Stamped silver link concho belt
c1930's Navajo Stamped silver link concho belt. Nice heavy hand stamped belt, much thicker gauge silver than most later belts. Each concho measures 1 7/8" x 1.25", it's 54" total length but if you look closely you will see it was originally 38" and at one point a skilled silversmith added 6 links to the belt. This was a long time ago, may have been links from an old belt. But there is a slight variation that I only noticed while taking the pictures. This is a very versatile piece at this length that could possibly be wrapped around some people twice, worn as a necklace doubled or tripled up, some left to hang down, wrapped around a leg and as a belt...whatever your heart desires. It's nice, it's strong, very well made piece from the second quarter of the 20th century that has stood the test of time.Unmarked, tested and guaranteed 90% (coin) silver or higher content. weighs 218 grams. All precious metals are tested and guaranteed, any Native American jewelry referred to as Silver or Sterling is guaranteed to be a minimum of 90% (coin) silver and possibly higher content. Large Arnold BlackGoat Navajo Stamped Repousse sterling Boulder opal pendant. 4" tall with bail x 2 3/8" wide x 66 grams...basically belt buckle size, no damage or detectable wear.Arnold BlackgoatArnold Blackgoat’s great grandfather was Moses Blackgoat. He was the first silversmith in the Blackgoat family. Moses was from the Lupton area and started making jewelry in the early 1900s. The art of jewelry making has been passed down generation to generation. My great-grandfather passed on the trade to my grandparents, Ben & Helen Blackgoat. They taught my father Harrison, and my mother Jennie also picked up the trade. Now I am the fourth generation in my family to make silver. He started to silversmith at the age of eight, by helping his grandmother, Helen Blackgoat, his mother Jenny Blackgoat, and his well-known uncle, Carson Blackgoat. He is known for his precise free hand stamping, using only the highest grade stones and heavy gauge silver.Arnold talks about making jewelry: “I was with my grandma at the Shiprock Fair. I wanted some money for something at the fair. She tossed me a piece of nickel and told me to make something. That is how I could earn the money to buy what I wanted. I made a stamped buckle and bolo that I sold at the fair. My grandma taught me the value of making my own money and that is what I did.”“My mother’s work as always has been my inspiration. She always used lots of stamp work and would make each piece a little different. That was my foundation and I just made small changes to the work. I would add extra beads, wire work, homemade bezel, and use better turquoise. Concentrating on making one of a kind pieces.”

This Turquoise Mine produces Turquoise in multiple shades of blues
to beautiful greens. Carico Lake Turquoise has become very popular and highly
collectible in recent years for its beautiful shades of a spring colored lime
green running through a sea of light sky blue with golden brown spiderweb
matrix.

The Carico Lake Turquoise Mine produces beautiful blue Turquoise but is most
known for its spectacular shades of lime green colored gemstones. This fabulous
lime green coloration is actually caused by a close relative of Turquoise
mineral called faustite, the combination of faustite and zinc associated with
the Turquoise creates one of the most beautiful coloration effects in American
Turquoise that has ever occurred in nature. The Carico Lake Turquoise Mine also
produces very rare psuedomorph clams that have been fossilized with Turquoise -
this Turquoise is very rare and very expensive.

The Carico Lake Turquoise Mine got its name from its unique location, in ancient
years there was a lake that has since dried, hence "Carico Lake." Mining is very
limited these days which makes the supply of this material limited. Due to the
great demand for Carico Lake Turquoise, it has become one of the most valuable
types of American Turquoise and the investment value of this Turquoise is great.

All precious metals are tested and guaranteed, any Native American jewelry
referred to as Silver or Sterling is guaranteed to be a minimum of 90% (coin)
silver and possibly higher content.
