c1980‘s Vintage Navajo concho bolo tie with turquoise. Solid sterling other than clip, no issues. Weight and measurements in pics. Arnold Blackgoats great grandfather was Moses Blackgoat. He was the first silversmith in the Blackgoat family. Moses was from the Lupton area and started making jewelry in the early 1900s. The art of jewelry making has been passed down generation to generation. My great-grandfather passed on the trade to my grandparents, Ben & Helen Blackgoat. They taught my father Harrison, and my mother Jennie also picked up the trade. Now I am the fourth generation in my family to make silver. He started to silversmith at the age of eight, by helping his grandmother, Helen Blackgoat, his mother Jenny Blackgoat, and his well-known uncle, Carson Blackgoat. Arnold is known for his precise free hand stamping, using only the highest grade stones and heavy gauge silver. Arnold talks about making jewelry: “I was with my grandma at the Shiprock Fair. I wanted some money for something at the fair. She tossed me a piece of nickel and told me to make something. That is how I could earn the money to buy what I wanted. I made a stamped buckle and bolo that I sold at the fair. My grandma taught me the value of making my own money and that is what I did. “My mothers work has always been my inspiration. She always used lots of stamp work and would make each piece a little different. That was my foundation and I just made small changes to the work. I would add extra beads, wire work, homemade bezel, and use better turquoise. Concentrating on making one-of-a-kind pieces. Arnold is known for his thick-gauged silver, and his free hand deep stamping technique, which make his jewelry one of a kind and a favorite in the Southwest. Harry Morgan Navajo Sterling high grade turquoise bolo tie 40" long with no issues. Weight and measurements in pics. Marked H Morgan. Numerous award winner Navajo artist Harry Morgan (1947-2008) was a 5th generation Navajo silversmith who‘ll always be remembered for his traditional "Vintage Revival-Old Pawn" style jewelry that had these gleaming sterling vintage looking darkened finishings that were made in a classic old style Navajo design..The beauty he gave the sterling was so warm that it brought out the metal‘s maximum luster..Harry once said "That‘s the way old style jewelry should look," he said.. "When silver is all shined up it hides all of the intricate detail in the stamp work and the bezels. This older style is what I grew up with and what I love." Although it was his mother who inspired him to create this style of jewelry that had that old Navajo look,it was Harry however who was the 1st to bring this style to the forefront of the industry..Paving the way for others like his brother-in-law Kirk Smith who then followed in Harry‘s footsteps & with Kirk‘s connection with other artists, they then followed in Kirk‘s footsteps. Now this is the dominant style amongst most Navajo artists & you see this old pawn style darkened finishing everywhere..Kirks name will always be associated with Harry‘s & vise versa. if you‘ve ever wondered why most Navajo pieces have that old style look & finishing where many of you can‘t tell if the piece is new or old anymore,it was this man who we can give the credit to for bringing a style of jewelry that we now see everywhere. He lived to see his jewelry being exhibited at the Heard Museum a year before his death. Marked or unmarked as shown in pics, weight and other measurements in pics. Out of stock

Delbert Gordon Navajo Sterling high grade turquoise belt buckle. Weight and measuremements in pics. Solid sterling with high grade natural American turquoise. Appears unworn, scratch on back, front like new. Born in 1955, Delbert Gordon is a self-taught silversmith. Navajo silversmith Delbert Gordon was originally from Houck, Arizona, and grew up in Tohatchi, New Mexico. Delbert began silversmithing in high school at the age of 17. He was inspired by his uncle, T.K. Whitman. Although he considers himself an artist first, he quickly realized he had a talent for silversmithing as well. He draws and fabricates his own designs, and has established his reputation as one of the best traditional style artists. He does beautiful stamp work in plain silver, and often incorporates stones into his designs. “After high school my brother in-law and I started to make jewelry. I didnt know anything about it and had to teach myself everything. “I had been selling jewelry for about 10 years when one of the local shops in town asked me to work for them. So they would give me the stones and silver and I would work at home and in the shop. I did this for over 20 years, never doing any other work. At the time I really was making a lot of good jewelry for the business and wanted to go out on my own to make more money. I wanted to establish my work and have more buyers. Over the years, he has created some of the most beautiful traditional Navajo jewelry in existence. He specializes in Traditional Revival designs and always works with fine, natural turquoise. Delbert has been an active silversmith since 1975. He has been a great mentor to many younger silversmiths, including his nephew Derrick Gordon. Marked or unmarked as shown in pics, weight and other measurements in pics. Older Native American jewelry is typically unmarked. If I call it Silver or Ingot I‘m guaranteeing it to be 90% or more silver. This isn‘t something I get confused about. Diné of the Navajo Nation Native American Indian silversmith Tommy Moore is well known for his work with silver and turquoise. He is a highly collectible Native American Indian Artist, and this artist signs his intricately designed sterling silver and turquoise creations as Tommy Moore. Anyone would be proud to wear one of his unique, handmade pieces. All precious metals are tested and guaranteed. A Native American jewelry piece referred to as "silver" or "ingot" is guaranteed to be at least 90% silver. I rarely use the word "sterling" when referring to older Native American silver or really any older silver jewelry as silver contents vary and "sterling" is 92.5% silver. No older jewelry is going to be exactly 92.5% silver, some a little over, some a little under. It wasn‘t an exact thing with handmade jewelry. I‘ve seen thousands of pieces xrf‘d to prove this. Bracelets are photographed on a 6" women‘s wrist.
