28" Dee Morris southwestern Sterling silver Petroglyph multi-stone charm necklace. Solid sterling silver tested and guaranteed with weight and measurements in the pictures. Circa last quarter of the 20th century.
Dee Morris was adopted into the Navajo Nation where he was raised within the Navajo culture and taught the family art of silversmithing by his Navajo grandfather. He gained international fame as a cutting edge Navajo artist when the buffalo head he embellished with 9000 carats of turquoise sold for $25,000 in 1974. He taught his trade to his grandson who also became famous. He had his own gallery in Sedona, Arizona for many years which he sold in 1975. He partnered with Ralph Lauren on several projects and unfortunately died in 2006. His work has been featured in Arizona Highways magazine many times. The Jan 1974 issue featured his work on their front cover. He is a world renowned artist.
