He leased an apartment in the French Quarter (624 Pirate's Alley). His roommate at the time was none other than author William Faulkner. Spratling began to teach an popular outdor sketching class for the Arts and Crafts Club of New Orleans. Before leaving New Orleans, Spratling and Faulker composed a tribute to their French Quarter community; the book titled Sherwood Anderson \u0026amp; Other Famous Creoles.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eIn the early 1930's, Spratling went to a small Mexican village called Taxco and started the modern Mexican silver movement. He worked with a select group of Mexican artisans and created a dazzling range of jewelry and accessories. Today, using the original tools, molds, and methods, Spratling Silver is faithfully reissued. Each piece is an original Spratling design made with solid sterling silver.
