Percy Tsisete Sandy Kai Sa(1918-1974) Handmade silkscreen print. 6" x 8" sight,<br>12" x 14" framed, some wear to frame, no damage to art.<br><br>Percy Tsisete Sandy was born in 1918 at Zuni Pueblo in northern New Mexico. He<br>was educated at the Santa Fe Indian School and at the Sherman Indian School in<br>Riverside, California. He married a young woman from Taos and went to live at<br>her pueblo.<br><br>Percy Sandy, who used his traditional name Kai Sa (Red Moon) in signing his<br>work, experimented with a variety of styles, mediums and subjects, but he<br>preferred to work in watercolor in a representational manner. Also known as a<br>muralist, his best known mural is at the La Fonda Hotel in Santa Fe.<br><br>Kai Sa’s work can be seen in the collections at the Gilcrease Institute and the<br>Philbrook Art Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma; the Heard Museum, Phoenix, Arizona; the<br>Indian Arts and Crafts Board, Washington, D.C.; the Museum of Northern Arizona;<br>the Museum of New Mexico; and the United Pueblo Agency, New Mexico.
