Clean with no issues. Very high grade natural American turquoise used in this bracelet. Albert Nells was raised in Cedar Springs, Arizona and now makes his home in Flagstaff with his wife, Marylou and their four children. He is a self-taught artist and started in leather work. Many of his jewelry designs come from leather applied to silver. Albert calls his signature technique “wire design with channel inlay. Albert considers himself a traditionalist, believing in the traditional Navajo ways. He participates in Navajo ceremonies in the “Beauty Way. One method the artist represents his culture in his jewelry-making is through the use of all-natural, four-color stones that can be seen in each piece he makes. These sacred colors of blue, red, white, and black represent the four directions and four sacred mountains for the Navajo people. One could consider Alberts work to have quite the modern, sleek design; while still having genuine cultural richness, Albert makes jewelry with an aesthetic that fits well in the contemporary world. His children do some jewelry work and enjoy painting. Albert shows his work at Indian Market, the Southwestern Art Festival, and The Heard Museum Show and he says he always takes home a ribbon.

6 3/8" Art Tafoya Yaqui Carved Amber silver cuff bracelet, great one of kind work of wearable art.

Few silversmiths match the power and artistry of Art Tafoya. He specializes in silver. Hammered silver. The old way. Art Tafoya carries on that tradition of the early masters, for he makes his own stamps and dies. Art’s clear and crisp stamp work speaks of skill and talent born of that tradition. Thick silver, hammered like leather, only deeper, brisk, clear and lovely.

Art Tafoya, silversmith and artist, learned the basics of silversmithing at the age to twelve from a blacksmith at a riding stable near his home. Later he learned the art of making handmade stamps and dies from Carlos White Eagle, a former student of the legendary Navajo silversmith Fred Peshlakai. Art has made an exhaustive study of Fred Peshlakai’s stamps and is an expert at identifying even unsigned work by this master. All of Art’s stamps and dies are his own creations. He specializes in hand stamped old-style jewelry reminiscent of Peshlakai’s, but definitely all of his own.

His original jewelry is highly sought after by collectors worldwide. He was a silversmith in residence at The Turquoise Shop at Knotts Berry Farm in California for twenty-five years before relocating to New Mexico. His work may be found in the permanent collection of the Albuquerque Museum, the Grove Encyclopedia of American Art and his work is included in the book Navajo Silversmith Fred Peshlakai, His Life and Art.

Marked or unmarked as shown in pics, weight and other measurements in pics. 6 3/8" Carmelita & Dan Simplicio Sterling, turquoise, coral cuff bracelet Zuni silversmith, Dan Simplicio (1917-1969) learned the art of jewelry making from his uncle, Juan DeDios, one of the earliest Zuni silversmiths. Although this World War II veteran only had about 30 short years of jewelry making, his talent and techniques are still recognized. Simplicio is one of the first known artists to begin incorporating natural red coral branches and rough-cut coral nuggets into his jewelry. As early as 1931, it is also said that he is possibly one of the first Zuni artists to begin using gold. Simplicio worked at C.G. Wallace’s trading post and collaborated with amazing Zuni artists including Leekya Deyuse, Teddie Weahkee, Leo Poblano, Bernard Homer and Lee Edakkie. Throughout his time, he developed an inapt ability to create stunning leaf motifs with intricate stamps and carved details, beginning his signature balance of delicate leaf work and heavy turquoise and coral designs. 6 3/8 Charlie John Navajo sterling cuff bracelet.Charlie John is a Navajo overlay artist, born in Winslow, Arizona in 1954. He was raised and went to boarding school at his family’s home in Dilkon, AZ. His father’s uncle was William Singer who Charlie credits with teaching him silversmithing. He started doing his apprenticeship at age 14.In 1972 William Singer started a shop near Charlie’s boarding school. Charlie both worked on jewelry and started selling it. Charlie says, in those days they would make a suitcase of jewelry and the buyers would purchase the suitcase and all of the jewelry at one time. With decades of experience, Charlie John is a very talented silversmith who excels in making beautiful, traditional Navajo jewelry. All precious metals are tested and guaranteed. A Native American jewelry piece referred to as "silver" or "ingot" is guaranteed to be at least 90% silver. I rarely use the word "sterling" when referring to older Native American silver or really any older silver jewelry as silver contents vary and "sterling" is 92.5% silver. Bracelets are photographed on a 6" women's wrist.

6 3/8" Ike Wilson Navajo (1901-1942) Ingot High grade turquoise cuff braceletDiné silversmith Ike Wilson worked for many years for the Kelsey Trading Company at Zuni. He did silverwork for many of the Zuni lapidary artists including Ida Vacit Poblano. He often collaborated with his wife, Katherine Wilson.Navajo Nation artist Ike Wilson (1900-1942) would sign his creations with his bow and arrow hallmark. There has been some confusion in the past about the hallmark of Ike Wilson (1901-1942). It seems that sometimes his work was attributed to Austin Wilson. Both men were born in the same year and in a similar area of the reservation and both men worked at times for trader C. G. Wallace and the Kelsey Trading Company. Ike Wilson’s work is signed with a bow and arrow. After his death in 1942, his wife Katherine Wilson (1907-1985) continued to use his hallmark. 6 3/8" Jared Chavez San Felipe Sterling silver heavily worked bracelet, clean
with no issues. Unmarked, purchased directly from the Artist in 2002. With
obvious quality, style, and workmanship. Each of these
educational experiences added a particular technical or visual aspect to my work
and would encourage me to continue to explore all the ways I could enhance my
designs.

My current work focuses on the reflective nature of polished silver. Though
fabrication, metal stamping, and some casting, I explore how light and
reflection interacts with the materials I utilize. I’ve found that polished
silver takes in the colors and the light of the world around, and through the
use of surface texture a dynamic play of light is created across the surface of
my designs.
