87 c1978 Ford Motor Company Promotional Department Glass Slides Set. Selling the<br>box shown in the last pic with 87 slides. I have pictured 54 of them, the two<br>left ones in the 5th pic are cracked, that's the only two that are damaged.<br>There are 33 more that aren't photographed individually 3 of them are like<br>mirror or interior pics and 30 of them are specs for Pinto's and a few other<br>vehicles as shown in the next to last pic for Mustangs. The slides measure 3.25"<br>x 4" each and will be very well packed. I have them on a lighted table for the<br>pics. These are really great, some greater than others obviously. I don't have<br>them in any specific order for the pics, the process while fun was tedious<br>enough as it was. This is the whole lot exactly as acquired, nothing was<br>separated or sold individually. This is a very rare find. Olga Quezada Mata Ortiz pottery jar 5" wide x 3 7/8" tall with no damage or detectable wear. Olga Quezada Hernandez is one of the first generation master potters whose work is highly sought after in Mata Ortiz, Mexico. She is married to Humberto Ledezma, and her son is the very well known potter Guadalupe Ledezma. Olga Quezada works in the traditional cuadricula pattern of squares, and favors the use of a gorgeous deep earthy brown clay that stands out from the rest. Her work is easily identifiable for it's beauty, precision and precisely painted design. Olga is one of the few original first generation potters that are still faithfully crafting gorgeous pottery, and her work bears all the hallmarks of light weight museum quality work.There is so much elegance in this piece. Contemporary, modern and sleek.. yet using all of the traditional techniques of Mata Ortiz pottery. With all of the precision in this piece, it is hard to believe that it was hand polished using an agate stone and painted with long strands of human hair. The clay used in this piece has been dug from the local countryside, and then refined to remove most impurities. Vintage Sterling silver Malachite compact. High quality compact solid sterling<br>silver with mirror in perfect condition. Hinge and closure work like new, snaps<br>shut tightly almost to the point of being waterproof. Antique Pocket Gold Scales/test kits. Selling the 19th century gold testing kit<br>without the chemicals with the 18th/19th century extremely well made and<br>complete pocket gold/gem scales complete with weights all the way down to carat<br>fractions. I could find no identifying marks, but it's really well made and so<br>is the case, notice the screws on the case have offset slots in the heads, very<br>old set. 1940's Rosemeade Dakota Pottery Elephant Salt and pepper shakers. Much less<br>common in this trunk down form but I have seen this exact mold with original<br>labels, plus it's obviously Rosemeade clay, uncommon color also. 2.5" tall with<br>no damage.<br><br>Rosemeade pottery has become a popular collectible today because its creator,<br>Laura Taylor Hughes, chose subjects which continually fascinate people--animals,<br>birds, fish--and modeled authentic characterizations of their living<br>counterparts.  These innovative designs were then accurately hand painted in<br>nature's vivid coloring.<br>Laura Taylor combined education, experience and creative skill.  Educated at<br>UND, Taylor was a student and assistant to nationally known director, Margaret<br>Cable.  After a short period of making Dickota pottery at the Dickinson Clay<br>Products Company, Laura Taylor was appointed state supervisor of the North<br>Dakota Works Administration (WPA).<br>An opportunity to demonstrate pottery making at the 1939 New York World's Fair<br>changed Laura Taylor's life as she met Robert J. Hughes, zealous booster of<br>state enterprise.  Together they founded the Wahpeton Pottery Company in January<br>1940 and married three years later.<br>Many of Laura Taylor's naturalistic designs reflected the native flora and fauna<br>of her North Dakota farm childhood.  A wide range of other products included<br>place souvenirs, human forms, functional items and advertising pieces. <br>Observing trends, Taylor met the needs and wishes of the public.  The company<br>name was changed to Rosemeade Potteries in 1953 for better name recognition and<br>remained successful while many other companies of that era did not survive.<br>Distinctive lustrous glazes created by Howard Lewis, production manager, set<br>Rosemeade apart, making it easily recognizable.  Metal oxides painted under the<br>glazes fired into colorful hues.  Lewis also threw swirl pottery vases and<br>pitchers.  He learned the swirl process while working at Niloak Pottery and<br>previously produced "Dickota Badlands" swirl pottery for the Dickinson Clay<br>Products Company.<br>Joe McLaughlin succeeded Lewis as production manager.  McLaughlin introduced<br>decorative decals, including those of wildlife artist Les Kouba, and accelerated<br>advertising specialties sales.  Rosemeade Potteries closed in 1961.<br>Although some early pottery and the swirl ware were thrown on the potter's<br>wheel, the majority of Rosemeade was cast in molds.  Most Rosemeade pottery is<br>identified with an impressed mark or an ink stamp of the company name in black<br>or blue lettering on the bottom.<br>tw254

He served in<br>World War II, Korea (1950-1951), and in Vietnam. 1935 Ft Worth Texas Folk Art Order of the Eastern Star LFATA OES Campaign<br>Miniature chair pin cushion. In many ways this is one of the coolest items I've<br>ever had. It appears to be a hand carved campaign item from depression era Ft<br>worth Texas. I believe Thelma Smith was campaigning for the Position of Electa<br>in the Ft Worth chapter 820 of the Order of the Eastern star. Not sure if she<br>won, if she did maybe this was a presentation item. Also interestingly 1936 was<br>Texas centennial so that's cool also. Stable cracks in wood as shown. 6.75" tall<br>x 3 1/8" wide.<br><br>The Order of the Eastern Star (or Eastern Star, or OES), is the world’s largest<br>fraternal organization that can be joined by both men and women. It is a member<br>of the Masonic family, but joining does not make a member a mason. It’s more of<br>an axillary group, that supports masonic lodges, masonic youth organizations, as<br>well as their own agenda. Like all Masonic organizations, they support<br>membership when in need, both financially and emotionally. Antique Figural Bronze Tea/Table bell. Very nicely cast antique bronze top on brass base. I'm not 100% sure but I suspect the antique top was put on a later brass base at one point. Perhaps I'm wrong though and they just polished the brass and left the bronze to develop a nice natural patina. Sounds great. 6" tall. isshelf

Eugene Laforet(1884-1955) American Horse Coach and Market Scene American Oil on Canvas. 9" x 12" in a 13.5" x 16.5" frame with no significant issues.Here is an article written about him in New Yorker Magazine on 10/28/1944: THE TALK OF THE TOWN ART FOR EVERYBODY BY EDITH HAMBURGER AND PHILIP HAMBURGER Talk story about Eugene La Foret, the only artist in town who paints in full view of the public in his own store, in which he sells his creations, usually hot off the easel. He owns and runs the Studio Store, on the west side of Lexington Avenue, just below 57th. At the time of our interview he was painting a country lane with a barn in the background, which, he said a man had ordered for Saturday. "One dollar down and nine on delivery," he said. A woman came in and asked if her still life was ready. It was and she paid two fifty for it. His oils range in price from two dollars for miniature still lifes to five hundred for more ambitious canvases. Mr. La Foret received his training in Europe: Berlin, Paris and Munich. Thanks

c1930 Karl Schiedig German Porcelain Scottie Dog Perfume Lamp with glass eyes 9"<br>tall with no cracks, chips, or restorations. The old cord was totally<br>deteriorated, I tried to save it but lost it before I got a chance to list this.<br>I put this new one on it, it's safe as I'm a former electrician and the switch<br>works. But I would put an led bulb in the socket as the current bulb does get<br>hot which I believe these were originally meant to do but led just makes more<br>sense these days.<br>TW5

c1890 Currier and Ives Cats Hand Colored Lithograph "Kitties among the Roses". Original Over 100 year old print displays wonderfully well but does have some foxing/discoloration. 12.5" x 16" with frame. NATHANIEL CURRIER (1813-1888, American) and JAMES MERRITT IVES (1824-1895, American) Nathaniel Currier and James Merritt Ives founded the American printmaking firm Currier and Ives. Known for their famous and inexpensive hand painted lithographs by well-known artists, their prints became extremely popular. Currier and Ives lithographs were especially popular amongst the Victorians and their new found love of nature. Animals, and especially cats, became subjects of their prints and decorated many American homes. After the deaths of both Currier and Ives, their grandsons continued the business until 1907 when the firm closed due to the public’s lack of interest in lithographs due to improvements in photoengraving and offset printing.

Texas US Representative Brady Preston Gentry (1896-1966) Owned Carved wood and<br>Sterling silver star gavel. I acquired this from a direct descendant of Brady<br>Preston Gentry, it belonged to him. It's the nicest gavel I've ever seen. The<br>carving is amazing, sterling silver stars in gavel and plate, the bag appears to<br>be moleskin, it has carved wood pieces on each side one shaped like Nevada, one<br>Texas, there's even a separate pouch inside the bag for the block. The gavel is<br>8 7/8" long, block 3 1/8" long. My guess is this would have been a gift to him<br>upon his appointment as County Judge in 1930, but it could be from when he was<br>elected to congress in 1952. It looked to have 90 years of tarnish on the silver<br>when it came into my posession, I hand polished it to not remove any patina.<br><br>GENTRY, BRADY PRESTON (1895–1966).Brady Preston Gentry, legislator and lawyer,<br>was born on a farm near Colfax, Texas, on March 25, 1895, the son of Benjamin<br>Whitfield and Virginia Caroline (McPhail) Gentry. He attended Cumberland<br>University and Tyler Commercial College. He was admitted to the bar at the age<br>of twenty-one. During World War I he served as an infantryman in France and rose<br>to captain. He entered public service as a clerk in the office of the Van Zandt<br>County tax collector. After moving to Tyler he served as assistant city tax<br>collector. He was elected county attorney, and in 1930 he became county judge of<br>Smith County, an office he held for four successive terms. During this period he<br>was instrumental in developing the county's road system. In 1939 he was<br>appointed chairman of the Texas Highway Commission by Governor W. Lee O'Daniel.<br>He was the first man to serve as chairman of the commission for a full six-year<br>term.<br><br>During Gentry's tenure on the highway commission, first steps were taken in the<br>development of the state's extensive farm-road program. His work attracted<br>national attention. In 1943 he was elected president of the American Association<br>of State Highway Officials. He also served as a director of the Texas Good Roads<br>Association. When his highway commission term ended in 1945, Gentry turned his<br>full-time efforts to his Tyler law practice. In 1952 he was elected to the first<br>of two terms in the United States Congress from the Third Texas District. As a<br>member of the House committee on highways and roads, he was instrumental in<br>shaping the legislation that launched the development of the national system of<br>interstate and defense highways. In 1957 after his retirement from Congress, he<br>was tendered another appointment as chairman of the Texas Highway Commission. He<br>declined the appointment, however, because of business and personal commitments.<br><br>Throughout his life Gentry was a staunch supporter of Southern Methodist<br>University; he also was a benefactor of Tyler Junior College. Shortly after<br>World War II, he helped form the Tyler Junior College District, and the old<br>college gymnasium was named Gentry Gym in his honor. He died in Houston on<br>November 9, 1966, after a lengthy illness.<br>isshelf
