Retired 14k James Avery Matrimony Joining hands pendant on bracelet. Central
pendant and two jump rings are James Avery 14k gold, measurs 1 1/8" with two
jump rings 6.5" total length. The chain and clasp are gold filled. 6 grams
total. This could obviously be worn as it it or the chain could be removed and
it could be added to a necklace..

James Avery founded his company in 1954, initially crafting jewelry in a two-car
garage in Kerrville, Texas, with just $250 and a desire to create lasting value
for others. Mr. Avery believed that meaning is what makes life more beautiful
and this concept continues to drive how we design jewelry to this day. In 2007,
53 years after he first founded the company, James Avery officially stepped down
as CEO and passed the reins on to his sons, Chris and Paul.

Mr. Avery’s mission was simple: to create jewelry with meaning—both for himself
and others. With a focus on creating straightforward designs and a core belief
of integrity in all things, his jewelry became more than precious metals and
gemstones. Guests came to him with their stories—their special moments—so he
could craft them into pieces they would wear with pride for a lifetime. From
writing letters to greeting Customers, Mr. Avery prioritized developing lasting
relationships with each person who connected with his designs.

Although we will all mourn this
profound loss forever, we choose to celebrate all Effy has brought into our
lives.

“Effy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, visionary and community leader.
His honesty and humility only illuminate the industry-defining change he brought
to the jewelry world. Through his unwavering belief in God, he demonstrated that
we can live a life of passion and purpose, leaving the world better than he
found it.”

Born Dec. 10, 1943, Hematian emigrated from Iran in the midst of the Islamic
Revolution in the late 1970s.

Though he trained and worked as an electrical engineer, Hematian started a
jewelry company when he landed in New York City in 1979, building his business
from nothing, as recounted in a video posted to the Effy Jewelry YouTube
channel.

“I’m really proud that I could tell you that [I] came to this country with zero
and today we are one of the biggest [jewelry] manufacturers in the States,” he
said.

According to the video, Hematian spent most of his mornings sketching jewelry
designs, sometimes completing as many as 20 to 30 sketches in a single day. He
said his background as an electrical engineer helped him see things other people
might have missed.

In the afternoon, he liked to walk the factory floor and keep an eye on the
production of his designs.

While his creativity and design inspirations were “endless,” the Effy Jewelry
website describes one creature—the panther—as the designer’s “lifelong muse.”

The big cat became the cornerstone of the brand’s “Signature Collection,” and it
became a star at Jewelers for Children’s “Facets of Hope” event, held annually
in Las Vegas alongside the Couture and JCK shows.

Hematian and Effy Jewelry were longtime supporters of JFC and donated plush
panthers to give away at the gala for about five years.

JFC Executive Director David Rocha remembered Hematian as a “lovely man.”

“Effy was always so kind and would make time to share his latest designs, his
inspiration and his process. He was a real icon in our industry. My thoughts are
with (Hematian’s son) Benny and his family,” Rocha said.

Sarin Bachmann, group vice president of the RX Jewelry Portfolio, said: “We were
so saddened to learn about Effy Hematian’s passing. Effy has been a wonderful
partner to JCK over the years and a force in the industry.

“We appreciated his deep passion for creating beautiful jewelry stemming from
his roots as an engineer. Effy’s legacy will live on with his family, his
namesake business, and the wonderful jewelry creations he inspires.”

On social media, members of the trade—including many Effy Jewelry employees—and
the brand’s customers reacted to news of Hematian’s passing with similar
remembrances, recalling a man who was kind and had a passion and a talent for
design.

Jan Swartz, the group president for Holland America Group, wrote on LinkedIn,
“Mr. Effy Hematian was much more than one of the world’s most brilliant jewelry
designers and visionary entrepreneurs.

“Beyond his professional achievements, he had a kind and generous spirit. I
admired his craftsmanship, creativity, passion, and love of his colleagues,
community, and family. Mr. Effy will long be remembered by every life he
touched, and his legacy will live on.”

On Facebook, a longtime Effy Jewelry customer said, “RIP Effy … your creations
have been making me happy for years and will continue to, for years to come.”

This same bracelet is being retailed under the Gerochristo Greek
Jewelry Collection as the
Synergy Sun Cuff Bracelet for $8640. I believe Konstantino retired the design,
but they both seem to share similar designs if not artisans.

https://athenagaia.com/products/synergy-sun-cuff-bracelet?_pos=2&_sid=cf7a0006f&_ss=r

4,000 BC
In the heart of the Mediterranean, generations of alchemists, artisans and
goldsmiths explored the depths of earth's most valued materials. Gold, silver,
bronze and precious stones inspired the creation of fine jewelry, a creative
expression of human intelligence.
Through the ages, Greek goldsmiths have estab- lished an exceptionally unique
presence in the history of fine jewelry, evident across the Mediterra- nean,
spanning through the Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic and Byzantine eras of
Greece. The indestructible nature of fine jewelry exudes -like qualities, a
timelessness that surpasses the ages of style and trend. The Konstantino style
emerged from the roots of these traditions, paving the way for its own unique
style, one re-defining the blueprint of the classical Greek identity.
about-image-2
1958: Birth of a legend
Konstantino was born in Filiadona, a small village outside Athens where the
Ancient city of Melitea once stood. There he watched his father closely as he
worked on the farm, building machines and tools of his own. Here Konstantino
developed a great appre- ciation for the art of hand craftsmanship.
about-image-3
1978: A musical influence
Following his love for music, the young Konstantino became a disc jockey in the
city of Athens, playing everything from Carlos Santana to Lou Reed. These icons
and many more, inspired a stylistic fluidity that introduced an essence of glam
rock to the scene. By way of music, Konstantino began curating his own aesthetic
identity, as a creative mind and style icon. Where, these legends continue to
influence the rule breaking spirit that drives the design team at Konstantino to
this day.
about-image-4
1983: Jewelry saved my life
Konstantino fled the music scene of Athens in search of an oasis, he took a trip
to the island of Hydra where he lived for the next 15 years. It was on this
magical island, where Konstantino fell in love with jewelry. He began collecting
and curating jewelry, whereby in 1988 the first Konstantino store opened.
about-image-2
1991: Annette
Hydra is not only the birthplace of Konstantinos love for Jewelry but was also
where he met his soon to be wife and creative partner, Annette. Together, from
the ground up, Konstantino Jewelry soon estab- lished its presence in the US and
global market.
about-image-6
1998: Global Impact
As the admiration and craze for Konstantino spread, the dream continued to grow,
where now our designs can be found in 10 countries globally. With the addition
of a longstanding presence in Neimans, Sax, etc. etc. Konstantino is proud to
represent an evolution of the Greek style to the world of fine jewel- ry lovers.
about-image-7
2016: A Family Future
Konstantino and Annette’s children, Julian and Phaedra joined the team, further
continuing the legacy of love, risk, and passion for gold smithery and design.
This new generation leads with humility, knowledge and a natural instinct for
the dynamic of the Konstantino brand. Preserving the core philoso- phies of the
brand and expanding on its already established style, is a challenge that’s been
taken on with confidence.

Nice high grade
stones. 96.7 grams Fits up to a 7.5" wrist including the 1 1/8" gap. The
bracelet is very sturdy but the gap could be adjusted slightly.

Hector Aguilar Taller Borda Sterling silver Aztec style bracelet

    1 en stock

Taller Borda Hector Aguilar Shop Sterling silver Aztec style bracelet, fits up
to a 7" wrist with no issues. 59.3 grams. Made at Hector Aguilar's Shop, Taller
Borda.

Who was silversmith Hector Aguilar?
Hector Aguilar was a master silversmith, jewelry maker, and the first graduate
from William Spratling’s famous apprenticeships in Taxco, Mexico. He met
Spratling almost by chance while bringing a load of tourists to Taxco from
Mexico City in the 1930s. Aguilar was one of Spratling’s best pupils, who often
worked with close-to-pure silver (rated at 980 instead of the 925 of sterling
silver on the silver scale). Aguilar was also a great businessman who only
stayed at Spratling’s workshop for three years before finding investors for his
own workshop, Taller Borda.

Aguilar’s Taller Borda became a huge success in 1943, when they secured a
contract with an American jewelry company, Coro. They produced several notable
designs for Coro throughout the 1940s. Hector kept Taller Borda running until
1966 when he closed up shop and enjoyed a nearly 20-year retirement, his place
in the firmament of great Mexican silversmiths already secured.

What kind of art did Hector Aguilar make?
Hector Aguilar was a silversmith, jewelry designer, and artist whose work helped
popularize Mexican silver in the 1940s and 1950s. His workshop’s pieces for the
retailer, Coro were instrumental in this endeavor. That relationship lasted
nearly a decade and produced some of Aguilar’s most vital work. As with most of
the Mexican silversmiths from this time, these designs were heavily inspired by
pre-Columbian artifacts and the folk art of Mesoamerica. Aguilar’s work
continued to innovate over the next several decades, bolstered the quality of
his pieces, which often used much more pure silver than his competitors. These
days Aguilar’s jewelry is highly sought after for his mastery of the craft of
silversmithing as well as its extremely high silver rating.

How did silversmith Hector Aguilar get started?
Hector Aguilar was born in 1905 in Mexico City. Not much is known of his early
years, but a chance encounter with William Spratling in the early 1930s set him
on a silversmithing career that would span three decades. Aguilar brought
tourists from Mexico City to the small town of Taxco, a place that as fate would
have it also was where Spratling was starting his silver workshop. Aguilar
worked for several years as the shop manager for Spratling while also becoming
an apprentice silversmith. After three years, Aguilar left to start his own
workshop, Taller Borda. That workshop would create countless beautiful pieces,
with unceasing quality up until its closure in 1966.
