The beautiful designs of Edward H. Bohlin, one of America's greatest craftsmen, are a treasured part of American history and are highly sought after by museums and other collectors. Bolen items are currently produced by skilled artisans in Dallas, Texas, recreating their beautiful curves and ornamentation. Not only are each pieces exquisitely crafted, but the stories behind the buckles and motifs continue to fascinate people as more than just decorative objects. This limited edition buckle was specially produced by Bohlin to commemorate the release of the film "The Lone Ranger." The Lone Ranger, originally aired as a radio drama in 1933, was adapted into a television series in the late 1940s, a popular series that ran for about 10 years, and also aired in Japan from the late 1950s. This popular American work has since been adapted into a film several times, and in 2013, Walt Disney Pictures will release a new version with an all-star cast, including executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer, director Gore Vabinski of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" film series, and Johnny Depp as Tonto. Bolen, which has a deep historical connection to The Lone Ranger and has produced decorative items for the TV series, has been given special permission by Disney to create buckles featuring the most memorable scenes and motifs from the show. This special model, released in a limited edition of only 80 pieces worldwide, marks the 80th anniversary of the radio drama's first broadcast.
