Andreas Beckmann Sterling Alligator Belt buckle on size 26 Alligator belt. From<br>the retired high end Dallas designer Andreas Beckmann. The buckle is 4.5" x<br>2.75" thick solid heavy sterling and takes up to a 1" belt. The buckle appears<br>new with no signs of wear. The belt appears to have been worn a handfull of<br>times with no significant wear but very close examination shows it's not "Brand<br>New". Belt is 1.25" wide tapering down at both ends, comes with original bag and<br>two new keepers in the box from the shop this ensemble likely came from in Aspen<br>Colorado. It was likely about a $1500 retail item that isn't currently available<br>at any price as the designer retired.

Andrew Dewa Zuni Sterling Multi-stone inlay sunface penant/pin. No issues, weight and measurements in pics, comes on the 19" necklace shown. Andrew Dewa was a well-known Zuni silversmith and artist who created jewelry from the 1960s until his death in 2001. His work is known for its intricate mosaic inlay and raised carvings, which often depict figures such as sunfaces, antelope dancers, shalakos, and rainbow men. Dewa‘s pieces were made from sterling silver, turquoise, coral, mother of pearl, jet, and gold-lipped shell. Dewa learned the craft from his parents, Anita and Leroy Dewa, when he was a teenager. Andrews - Rollin Karg Art Glass Paperweight no cracks, chips, scratches, or dings. 3.5" wide x 1.5" tall.   As you can see these two names Andrews and Karg are in two different handwriting,  this was made by both artists.   Rollin Karg, is a renowned glass artisan from the Midwest who designs and creates small and massive sculptural pieces from molten glass, usually shaped in a free-form, asymmetrical manner.  He brings the glass to life through his dynamic use of color, especially dichroic colors – a color that transmits one color while reflecting another – which adds a unique dimension to the piece. While Karg prefers to use traditional techniques of glass making that are thousands of years old, he also adds his own inventive techniques to each project.  It is amazing and awe-inspiring to watch him create massive works of art through the use of a five-foot blowpipe. Although Karg spent the first part of his career as an industrial engineer, photographer, potter and woodworker before becoming a full time glass artist in 1983, he has quickly gained notoriety for his contribution to the world of glass art.  He has won many awards in competitions and shows throughout the United States and his work has been exhibited throughout most of North America.

Andy Lee Kirk Isleta Pueblo (1947-2001) 14k gold Sugilite and Opal necklace. With accompanied 2008 appraisel from Waddell Gallery 2008, keep in mind gold averaged 1/3 of it's current price in 2008 so do the other materials not to mention a deceased master's labor and skill. He created beautiful gold and silver jewelry using the finest materials from 1970 to 2001. Born in 1947, he originally earned a degree in biology continuing on to work for the Fish and Wildlife and Forest Services. Andy had learned the basics of jewelry making at the University of New Mexico and with the urging of Navajo artist, Gibson Nez, he made the decision to become a full time jeweler. Andy Lee Kirk was a consummate artist with many fine skills. He did lapidary work, rolling his own beads, and had mastered many types of precious metalwork including lost wax and sand cast techniques, stamping, engraving, overlay and fabrication. Antique American Folk art puppet carved wood artists doll Milt Simpson Estate.<br>Amazing item on high quality museum grade stand. This is from the Estate of<br>Milton Simpson, author of several books and publications of Folk a. He was the<br>graphic designer who discovered the Woodbridge figures collection in New Jersey.<br>Not the construction worker that found them but the person who purchased them<br>all from a local pawn shop and recognized their importance. There is a very high<br>probability this piece is published in one or more of his books/publications.<br>It's a great hand carved, one of a kind piece. It's 9" tall and happens to be<br>painted black, if it were painted white, green, yellow, purple it would be<br>equally important in my eyes, really just a strange and wonderful thing with<br>these orange breasts, etc.<br><br>Milton Simpson (1911-2023)<br>Milton – also known by his friends and acquaintances as Milt - was born and<br>raised in Brooklyn, New York City and raised his family in Millburn, New Jersey.<br>He attended the New York School of Industrial Art (SIA), now the School of Art<br>and Design. He then worked for Incorporated Ideas Advertising Agency in New<br>Jersey before joining the United States Army, serving in Korea.<br>After his discharge from the Army, Milt attended The Workshop School of<br>Advertising & Editorial Art. Upon completion of his studies there, he became the<br>Art Director of The American Baby Magazine in New York, Assistant Art Director<br>at Lewin, Williams & Saylor in New Jersey, and then Art Director of Kenyon-Baker<br>Advertising & Baker Printing Company, (both of which were under one roof) in New<br>Jersey. (He left there because the promised air conditioner was never<br>installed!)<br>He then worked as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator for several<br>years.<br>In 1964, he and business partner Don Johnson founded the firm of Johnson &<br>Simpson Graphic Designers with Milt as president. They were based in a townhouse<br>in beautiful downtown Newark, New Jersey and specialized in corporate<br>communications. The design projects they took in included annual reports,<br>corporate magazines, capability brochures, posters, museum catalogs, trademarks<br>and books. Their clients included Conoco, Johnson & Johnson, New Jersey Bell,<br>Hoffmann-La Roche, The Newark Museum and Singer Corporation.<br>The firm was featured in every major design publication, was recognized by over<br>350 graphic design awards and he and Don were inducted into the New Jersey Ad<br>Club's Advertising Hall of Fame in 1991.<br>Milt also served on the Advisory Board of The Greater Newark Chamber of Commerce<br>and was an Adjunct Professor (Publication Design) at Montclair State College.<br>The New Jersey Art Directors Club voted Milt Art Director of the Year in 1972.<br>Books were his passion. He couldn't seem to get them out of his system and<br>didn't try to. For many years he produced and self-published a series of<br>Artists' Books using several print-on-demand platforms. Milt was always a<br>student and appreciator of quirky, eccentric and irrational human behavior.<br>These Artists' Books were very much influenced by his observations and<br>obsessions.<br>Among many others too numerous to mention, he wrote "Windmill Weights" which was<br>self-published and "Folk a" published by HarperCollins.

Antique August Buermann Engraved longhorn spurs Star steel silver. Both with Star Steel silver mark, non magnetic.Buermann Spurs are one of the most famous and sought after designs from one of the most famous makers in Cowboy Spur history. He can be considered to be a good businessman too, as he fulfilled the need of creating many different types of spurs and also aggressively patenting his brands/logos and designs.  What ever type or style was needed, Buermann was the first to step up and create them.History.August Buermann was born in Germany in 1842 but later traveled to the US after taking his apprenticeship in lock smithing. After joining the army as a substitute at the age of 22 he began making spurs for the civilian and military. Buermann fashioned the now infamous StarBrand that adorn his designs and creations.  The company had grown to have over 100 employees before the turn of the century. By the early 1900s, the majority of military men were wearing Augusts heel spurs and army officers were also entitled to wear heel chains and were all privately purchased from Buermann. August also had a son, August Jr, who succeeded him in running the company when he retired in 1896.  August Jr was also a good businessman like his father but, in 1914 the Buermann name and design was purchased by North and Judd, a large established hardware company. The infamous StarBrand of the Buermann boot spur was no more and was replaced by the North and Judd anchor mark. August Jr then retired. The Buermann name is not without some (slight) controversy too though.  Once the other well known manufacturers started to gain in-roads on the established business, selling new styles of spurs that were popular, Buermann was accused of making straight copies of these designs.  Even to the point where he was accused of taking copies of the images from other companies catalogs for his own use. At that time, the company was seen to be becoming more and more removed from it's customer, branching out and modernizing at a fast rate.  Other companies such as McChesney or Crockett were closer to their customers and Buermann was playing catch-up.Materials.Like many other spur makers, the majority of these spurs are made from solid brass or iron.  However, Buermann also invented 2 types of metal for use too, known as "Star Steel Silver" and "Hercules Bronze". Where these metals were used, the metal name was also stamped onto each piece. In fact, so good were the products that were being made in his modern factory in Jelliff Avenue, that he was able to win some awards of excellence.  The Centenial Commission of Philadelphia bestowed several awards for different products in several categories and the Star Brand also won awards at the St Louis Fair in 1904.

No other damage. They're both<br>guaranteed c.1860-1890.<br><br>These are very heavy, basically sculptures. They weigh 9 pounds together.

Rare and amazing set, I've seen mid sized snake form weights bring over $100 for one weight, a set like this in nonexistent, the basket is absolutely amazing. All 19th century. Antique Chinese Bronze Archaistic Mirror. 3.75" wide, solid bronze, from a very<br>nice collection of Chinese Antiques. Appears Excavated, collected in the third<br>quarter of the 20th century. I'm unsure of exact age.<br><br>The Chinese magic mirror (simplified Chinese: 透光镜; traditional Chinese: 透光鏡;<br>pinyin: tòu guāng jìng) traces back to at least the 5th century, although their<br>existence during the Han dynasty (206 BC – 24 AD) has been claimed. The mirrors<br>were made out of solid bronze. The front was polished and could be used as a<br>mirror, while the back has a design cast in the bronze, or other decoration.<br>When sunlight or other bright light shines onto the mirror, the mirror appears<br>to become transparent. If that light is reflected from the mirror onto a wall,<br>the pattern on the back of the mirror is then projected onto the wall.<br><br><br>The back of the same mirror<br>Bronze mirrors were the standard in many Eurasian cultures, for example ancient<br>Rome, but most lacked this characteristic, as did most Chinese bronze mirrors.<br><br>Robert Temple describes their construction: "The basic mirror shape, with the<br>design on the back, was cast flat, and the convexity of the surface produced<br>afterwards by elaborate scraping and scratching. The surface was then polished<br>to become shiny. The stresses set up by these processes caused the thinner parts<br>of the surface to bulge outwards and become more convex than the thicker<br>portions. Finally, a mercury amalgam was laid over the surface; this created<br>further stresses and preferential buckling. The result was that imperfections of<br>the mirror surface matched the patterns on the back, although they were too<br>minute to be seen by the eye. But when the mirror reflected bright sunlight<br>against a wall, with the resultant magnification of the whole image, the effect<br>was to reproduce the patterns as if they were passing through the solid bronze<br>by way of light beams."<br><br>History<br>China<br>In about 800 AD, during the Tang dynasty (618–907), a book entitled Record of<br>Ancient Mirrors described the method of crafting solid bronze mirrors with<br>decorations, written characters, or patterns on the reverse side that could cast<br>these in a reflection on a nearby surface as light struck the front, polished<br>side of the mirror; due to this seemingly transparent effect, they were called<br>"light-penetration mirrors" by the Chinese.<br><br>This Tang era book was lost over the centuries, but magic mirrors were described<br>in the Dream Pool Essays by Shen Kuo (1031–1095), who owned three of them as a<br>family heirloom. Perplexed as to how solid metal could be transparent, Shen<br>guessed that some sort of quenching technique was used to produce tiny wrinkles<br>on the face of the mirror too small to be observed by the eye. Although his<br>explanation of different cooling rates was incorrect, he was right to suggest<br>the surface contained minute variations which the eye could not detect; these<br>mirrors also had no transparent quality at all, as discovered by the British<br>scientist William Bragg in 1932 (after an entire century of their confounding<br>Western scientists). Bragg noted that "Only the magnifying effect of reflection<br>makes them [the designs] plain".<br><br>Japan<br>As the manufacture of mirrors in China increased, it expanded to Korea and<br>Japan. In fact, Emperor Cao Rui and the Wei Kingdom of China gave numerous<br>bronze mirrors (known as Shinju-kyo in Japan) to Queen Himiko of Wa (Japan),<br>where they were received as rare and mysterious objects. They were described as<br>"sources of honesty" as they were said to reflect all good and evil without<br>error. That is why Japan considers a sacred mirror called Yata-no-Kagami to be<br>one of the three great imperial treasures.<br><br>Today, Yamamoto Akihisa is said to be the last manufacturer of magic mirrors in<br>Japan. The Kyoto Journal [6] interviewed the craftsman and he explained a small<br>portion of the technique, that he learned from his father.
