sale - www.estatefreshaustin.com Estate Fresh Austin Etsitty-Tsosie, Eskiesosie (Dine 1880-1937) Navajo sterling silver Squash Blossom Necklace
Etsitty-Tsosie, Eskiesosie (Dine, c.1880-1937) attrib. Silver Squash Blossom Necklace. One nearly identical sold as part of the C.G. Wallace Collection of American Indian Art . (1975: lot 215) Sotheby‘s Park Bernet. Then again Sep 18, 2020 at Cowan‘s for $8750 including BP. That one had the same identical stamps at the bottom of the discs. To me they were obviously both made by the same hand and it‘s very subjective which one is better. 21" long, other measurements in pictures. This is basically the same size/weight as the one previously sold. Etsitty Tsosie was active from 1910-1937 and passed away in 1937. Best known for his beautiful stamp work and repousse pieces. He worked for trader C.G. Wallace for a period of time and was commissioned to produce stamps. He and Hosteen Goodluck worked closely together creating many of the early concho belts and other detailed pieces of jewelry. Several of his pieces were featured in the C.G. Wallace collection. Mentioned in the John Adair 1944 book, Eskiesose (C.G. Wallace‘s questionable spelling) preferred to work without strangers watching him, as he insisted his silver would not melt correctly.

Eugene Laforet(1884-1955) American Horse Coach and Market Scene American Oil on Canvas. 9" x 12" in a 13.5" x 16.5" frame with no significant issues. Here is an article written about him in New Yorker Magazine on 10/28/1944: THE TALK OF THE TOWN ART FOR EVERYBODY BY EDITH HAMBURGER AND PHILIP HAMBURGER Talk story about Eugene La Foret, the only artist in town who paints in full view of the public in his own store, in which he sells his creations, usually hot off the easel. He owns and runs the Studio Store, on the west side of Lexington Avenue, just below 57th. At the time of our interview he was painting a country lane with a barn in the background, which, he said a man had ordered for Saturday. "One dollar down and nine on delivery," he said. A woman came in and asked if her still life was ready. It was and she paid two fifty for it. His oils range in price from two dollars for miniature still lifes to five hundred for more ambitious canvases. Mr. La Foret received his training in Europe: Berlin, Paris and Munich. Thanks

Eva Etstate Zuni Channel inlay sterling turtle pin. Considerably bigger than most you will find. 2" x 1.25" x 7.7 grams, no issues. All precious metals are tested and guaranteed. A Native American jewelry piece referred to as "silver" or "ingot" is guaranteed to be at least 90% silver. I rarely use the word "sterling" when referring to older Native American silver or really any older silver jewelry as silver contents vary and "sterling" is 92.5% silver. No older jewelry is going to be exactly 92.5% silver, some a little over, some a little under. It wasn't an exact thing with handmade jewelry. I've seen thousands of pieces xrf'd to prove this. Bracelets are photographed on a 6" women's wrist.

Fully functional, with no issues. Circa third quarter of the 20th century. Frances Holmes Boothby (19192000) created unique modernist jewelry for nearly four decades, from the mid-1940s to the early 1980s. In addition to traditional modernist geometric and abstract designs, she made unique, whimsical pieces inspired by cartoons, including the Bird and Animal series. Working primarily in sterling silver, Frances sometimes used gold, brass, wood, resin, natural stones, pearls, and glass. She signed her pieces with the capital letters STERLING and the lowercase initials fhb. Undoubtedly, Frances Holmes Boothby made a significant contribution to the American wearable art movement through her exhibitions and teaching of jewelry making. For example, in 1948, she first presented her work at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. As early as 1955, she opened a studio in New York where she created her jewelry and taught jewelry making. According to 1958 newspaper ad, Frances Holmes Boothby exhibited her jewelry at New York State Fair. Later, Frances handcrafted jewelry in her Silver Workshop in Weston, Vermont, where she was active until the early 1980s. Frances Holmes Boothby died at the age of 80 in Sedona, Arizona. Made in limited quantities, today the artists works can be found both in the collections of lovers of modernist and vintage jewelry, and in national art galleries.

www.estatefreshaustin.com - Estate Fresh Austin Fritz Casuse Navajo large 14k gold/Sterling silver purple stone/pearl pendant
Fritz Casuse Navajo large 14k gold/Sterling silver purple stone/pearl pendant. Solid sterling silver, marked as shown with only artists signature, with weight and measurements in the pictures. Tested and guaranteed solid sterling silver and solid 14k gold accents. Stone is great, I‘ll think about it more in the morning. Early in his life, award-winning designer, Fritz Casuse, showed natural aptitude for the arts which his family encouraged. As a graduate of the Institute of American Indian Arts, where he studied sculpture, Fritz has adapted his experience in other artistic disciplines to his jewelry. He views his jewelry as "something you can walk through," highlighting an attention to dimension and texture that offers a sense of space and wonder. Each of Fritz‘s designs focus on color and balance, enticing you to regard the whole work as a single masterful sculpture. His designs truly break the mold on Native American jewelry with a contemporary stroke that will amaze collectors. Fritz‘s early work experience as a graphic designer, eventually gave way to jewelry-making as he gradually became more involved in his projects for the Santa Fe Indian Market. His efforts would garner accolades from some of the most prestigious art fairs dedicated to Native American work. Fritz holds blue ribbons from both the Heard Museum Guild Indian Fair & Market (2005) and the Santa Fe Indian Market (2005). In 2006, he became a fellow of the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts, and added to his honors "Best of Classification" awards from both the Heard Museum and the Santa Fe Indian Market for his 18k yellow and white gold perfume-vial ring, Nizoniful. Mindful of his role in encouraging the next generation of Native American artisans, Fritz has returned as an instructor to the Poeh Arts Center in Pojoaque, NM, where he was once a student. His time as a teacher has helped to strengthen his own skills as a jewelry-maker and inspires him and his students to experiment with progressive designs. An amiable spirit, Fritz explains that his fashion-forward, sculptural jewelry designs are a combination of forethought and serendipitous discovery, resulting in jewelry that excites both his students and collectors. Examples of his awe-inspiring jewelry can be seen in Dexter Cirillo‘s book, Southwestern Indian Jewelry. Fritz is originally from Twin Lakes, NM in the Eastern part of the Navajo reservation in New Mexico. He shares his home with his wife and son. The subtle balance of his environment - the purity and texture of architecture, landscape, insects and animals, and the sea - and the fun of family-life and teaching, mix together in a creative experience that doesn‘t feel like a job.
