Jan Pomianowski Turquoise, baroque pearl, Butterscotch Amber sterling necklace. Solid sterling silver tested and guaranteed beads with the markings shown, with weight and measurements in the pictures. No issues, circa last quarter of the 20th century. Jan Pomianowski was born in Gdynia, but he has lived and worked in Kashubia for over twenty years. He graduated in painting at the State College of Fine Arts, currently functioning as the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. He has been associated with the jewelry industry for a quarter of a century, he has been constantly developing new collections in which he often modifies style, materials, concepts and distinctions. Therefore, each jewelry has new features, which makes Jan Pomianowski‘s collections so sought after for uniqueness. In designing and creating jewelry, the artist often draws inspiration from the world of fairy tales, fairy tales, as well as from his personal experiences. An example is the story of one of the rings in our collection with the image of an owl carved in amber sitting on a branch. Owls remembered from the earliest childhood, because living in a tree neighboring his family home. Probably the effect of such an approach to work are emotions, and these are positive emotions that you experience when interacting with this jewelry. In addition to the extraordinary imagination, the artist is also characterized by reliability, precision and the ability to choose the method of implementation to the assumed concept. Finished jewelry therefore consists of detailed elements, perfectly matched to the whole, creating a unique, hand-created product. All items are color and functional. This means that the artist‘s works, in addition to their artistic function, can and do have practical functions. A notable example is the shaving kit by Jan Pomianowski, consisting of a bowl, razor with replaceable blade and brush with natural badger hair (product available in our gallery). The artist‘s commitment to his work shows his active participation in many of the most important fairs and events of the jewelery world. Jan Pomianowski participates in domestic and foreign fairs, e.g. Amberif, Inhorgenta or Tucson. An interesting anecdote is the fact that during the visit of the Norwegian Royal Couple to Poland in 2012, the then presidential couple, the State of Komorowski, gave JKM Sonji a set by Jan Pomianowski. This set was named after the queen of Poland - Anna Jagiellon and comes from the series "Great Queens".

All stones, secure and intact with no apparent issues. Signed by Harrison Jim with an additional hallmark. I believe the Tufa casting was done by H Jim and possibly the inlay work done by another extremely skilled artist that I didn‘t attempt to identify. Harrison Jim is Navajo and a member of the Red House Clan. Born and raised in Gallup, New Mexico. Growing up, he was exposed to the traditional arts through his aunt and grandmother who often wore beautiful pieces and would also weave rugs at home. This early exposure sparked a strong interest in the arts for him. Harrison honed his skills by apprenticing under renowned jewelers such as John Hall, Tommy Jackson, and McKee Platero. These mentors not only taught him the technical aspects of jewelry making, but also instilled in him a deep respect for the traditional Navajo methods and materials. Harrison also pursued formal training through various workshops and classes to further refine his craft. Harrison has developed a unique style that sets his work apart from others in the industry. He blends traditional Navajo techniques with contemporary designs, resulting in pieces that are both modern and rooted in tradition. His attention to detail and use of high quality materials have earned him a loyal following among collectors and admirers alike. His designs are reflective of bright stars in the New Mexico nights and his geometric forms, of the landscape. With his sleek and contemporary shapes and designs, he manages to balance the flavor of tradition along with his stylized approach to Indian imagery. The colorful and innovative inlays in his jewelry are inspired by the natural gifts that Mother Earth and Father Sky provide to each and every one of us.

Jo Elias Draper Navajo Sterling Naja pendant high grade Royston turquoise. Heavy and substantial piece that appears unworn with no issues. Weight and measurements in pics. All precious metals are tested and guaranteed. A Native American jewelry piece referred to as "silver" or "ingot" is guaranteed to be at least 90% silver. I rarely use the word "sterling" when referring to older Native American silver or really any older silver jewelry as silver contents vary and "sterling" is 92.5% silver. No older jewelry is going to be exactly 92.5% silver, some a little over, some a little under. It wasn‘t an exact thing with handmade jewelry. I‘ve seen thousands of pieces xrf‘d to prove this. Bracelets are photographed on a 6" women‘s wrist.

Jolene Eustace (Cochiti/Zuni) 18k/14k/sterling Carved Turquoise, coral, and<br>shell necklace. Jolene is an extremely talented artisan, the galleries that<br>carried her work seem to be mostly out of stock. I believe she has always been<br>quality over quantity, producing a very limited amount of jewelry as you can<br>tell she invests a lot more time/skill/money into her pieces than a large<br>percentage of todays Native American artisans'. Amazing piece as shown. Bottom<br>piece has 18k, 14k, and sterling(marked and tested), two side pieces 14k and<br>sterling. Approximately 17" total length, 144.6 grams total weight.<br><br>Jolene A. Eustace-Hanelt is respected as a master jeweler. She comes from a<br>family of jewelers and potters. She grew up helping her parents. In a cover<br>story for Indian Artist Magazine, Jolene shared: "I was eight when I made my<br>first piece. I got an order to do 100 tie tacks...That was over 100 bucks." She<br>bought a 10 speed bike with the money. She added, "Then I realized I could be<br>self-sufficient with my work as an artist...My work is my release. My work is my<br>meditation. It's a way of going back to Mother Earth." (Zuni/Cochiti, active<br>1985=-present: contemporary, gold, silver leaf, set stones jewelry, alabaster<br>sculptures)<br><br>(A note from Keishi Jewelers a retailer of her wearable art) Sharing our Keshi<br>"Jolene" story: Jolene is (obviously) quite a beautiful woman, and the staff of<br>Keshi commonly referred to her as "the jewelry dess." One day, someone fessed up<br>and told Jolene what she'd been nicknamed, and her reply was "I'm not the<br>jewelry dess, I MAKE jewelry FOR desses!" That response certainly endeared her<br>to us even more!<br><br>Jolene is a daughter of well-known artists Ben and Felicita Eustace. Ben, from<br>Zuni, was a jeweler who, in turn taught his Cochiti wife Felicita the art of<br>jewelry making. Felicita is also a potter, specializing in traditionally made<br>storytellers. The Eustaces passed their demand for quality on to their 13<br>children, including Jolene.<br><br>Jolene was educated at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe. She<br>learned jewelry making from her parents and Hopi jeweler Duane Maktima. She has<br>been fabricating jewelry since the mid-80s.<br><br>Always seeking challenges, Jolene relocated to Essen, Germany in the mid-1990s<br>with her German-born former husband and infant son. Several times a week, she<br>commuted by train between her home and Europe’s renowned art school, the<br>Künstakadamie, in Düsseldorf. There she studied frawing and painting. Jolene is<br>a recipient of a fellowship from the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts<br>(SWAIA) and has worked with SWAIA’s mentor program, teaching jewelry techniques<br>to Native students.<br><br>Jolene’s jewelry is characterized by the quality of materials and its striking<br>individuality. She says, “Whoever said you have to play by the rules? I want my<br>jewelry to say something. It cannot be just jewelry. In my jewelry, design and<br>fabrication have to deal with personal experiences and traditional values<br>conflicting and collaborating with present society.”<br><br>Jolene’s parents once said to their children, “If you’re going to do jewelry at<br>tall, you have to do it our way, the right way.” It wasn’t the designs they were<br>talking about, it was the technical aspects of their work: setting stones,<br>welds, and engravings. From the time of their training, the Eustace kids learned<br>a respect for materials and techniques of their art.<br><br>Jolene’s hallmark is a stamped “JAE” and a trademark design which represents<br>sage that was designed by her Dad long ago.<br><br>Tribal Affiliation<br>Cochiti/Zuni<br><br>All precious metals are tested and guaranteed, any Native American jewelry<br>referred to as Silver or Sterling is guaranteed to be a minimum of 90% (coin)<br>silver and possibly higher content. Menu Cart Home › WEC: Thoughts about Jewelry ›Jonette Jewelry Company aka JJ Jewelry Jonette Jewelry Company aka JJ Jewelry Posted by Laurie Zeiden on Aug 07, 2017 Jonette Jewelry Company, or JJ, was a Providence, Rhode Island company in business from 1935 through 2006. The name of the company wasn't always the same. Originally, the company, started by Abraham Lisker, was called The Providence Jewelry Company. Over the years, the company's name was changed to Lisker & Lisker and after a significant slow-down in production during the years of World War II, the company revamped and resurfaced as Jonette Jewelry. JJ is known for it's novelty jewelry, including figurals and animal designs and its Christmas themed jewelry. In the 1980's, JJ produced two specialty lines: Artifacts, a line of novelty pins, and Santa Fe, a line of American western jewelry. JJ jewelry is fairly easy to find in the secondary marketplace and prices can be very reasonable. The most recent pieces can usually be purchased even if you have a very tight budget making JJ a great value and an easy start to a costume jewelry collection.

Josuë Dupon (Belgian, 1864-1935) Art deco universal exposition Anvers 1930 medal 3 1/8" from side to side. Josuë Dupon | Belgian, 1864-1935 A talented and prolific sculptor whose work, which includes painting and graphics, is still far too little known. After successfully studying at the Roeselare and Antwerp Academies (1887), he received a gold medal for a monumental bronze, Samson killing the lion, in 1890. From that year on, his work appeared regularly in exhibitions at home and abroad. Although not an innovator, he worked in every genre and mastered every technique and material. He was one of the first in Belgium to carve statues in "Off White" (1893), including an exceptionally refined Diana which was bought by the Antwerp Royal Museum of Fine Arts, which also acquired his spectacular bronze Vulture defending its prey a year later. The career that the sculptor subsequently built brought him numerous important awards and an appointment as professor at the Antwerp Academy, as well as commissions for facade sculptures and monuments. Although Dupon did not play a very active part in clubs or associations, he developed into an authority who was associated with reliability and class. The installation of his life-size Camel Driver (1902) on the roof and of his two bronze bird groups at the entrance to Antwerp Zoo confirmed his reputation as a first-rate animal sculptor. The thoroughness with which he approached this specialised area from the beginning is unequalled by any other Belgian sculptor. There were few animal species that did not succeed in inspiring him, and of those that did, he was as faithful to their anatomical detail as he was capable of expressing their nature. It appears from this that Josuë Dupon was in every inch a realist whose technically faultless art, with his sense of the dramatic, his feeling for decorative complexity and his slight tendency towards idealizing, was in every way in keeping with a 19th century conception of art. To describe Dupon as the Belgian Frémiet (1834-1910) is in this light elucidating without implying anything derogatory to either of them. As a gifted specialist in depicting horses – as if we can talk of preferences in this thoroughbred animal sculptor – he created the remarkable equestrian sculpture of Pater C. Lievens in Moorslede (1930). Rather than attempting to provide an overview of his works, exhibitions and honours here, it seems more appropriate mention the telling fact that his pupils at the Antwerp Academy included leading sculptors such as A. Collin (1886-1962), W.Kreitz (1903-1982) and A. Poels (1903-1984).
