Descrizione

18th/19th century 9ct gold /sterling inlaid Tortoise Shell Traveling perfume
bottle holder. 2.5" x 2.5" x 1.25" overall, great and way above average, the
type of thing the elite of the period would have owned. Illegible hallmarks to
bottles lids, I believe gilt sterling, inside frame also hallmarked. Inlaid with
solid 9ct yellow and rose gold and sterling silver all hand engraved, hand done.
No damage to bottles, all stoppers present. One stable fracture to back left of
top section above hinge, another chip to front side diagonal of other. Both
really inconsequential as this is a rare, one of a kind museum quality item.
These were all purchased in New York at Parke-Bernet Galleries before they were
bought out by Sotheby's in 1964.
