David Tsikewa was a renowned Zuni fetish carver that was active from the 1930's through the 1970's, son-in-law of Teddy Weahkee, who learned silversmithing from Horace Iule around 1937 and his name appears as Siackewa in John Adair's list in his 1944 book, page 199. Tsikewa also collaborated with Preston Monongye. David Tsikewa's overlay work can be distinguished from other Zuni smiths with his unusual vertical long eyes. For most of his career he worked with CG Wallace and later with Trader Leon Ingraham. It is said that David Tsikewa and Leekya Deyuse were Wallace's two favorite carvers. David also did inlay, but not near and much as his carvings. His mosaic inlay is very precise and beautifully done!
