c1940 Rumrill Art Pottery Vase and Candle holder with unusual sponged green matte glaze. Vase is 6" tall x 6.5" wide at the rim. No damage or restorations to either of the pieces, candle holders are unmarked but from the same estate and obviously match. Selling the set shown. George Rumrill, a Little Rock, Arkansas native, was a founder of the Arkansas Products Company. The Arkansas Products Company was formed to promote Arkansas made products. Two of the products that were promoted were Niloak Pottery from Benton and Camark Pottery from Camden. George Rumrill's position as a founder and promoter of the Arkansas Products Company gave him access to many of the two pottery's catalogs and products. At some point in time, the Arkansas Products Company came to pass and George Rumrill decided to create his own pottery company. Since he had no facilities in which to make pottery, he contacted existing pottery companies to create his line of pottery. RumRill's most popular designs were made by Red Wing Stoneware Company from 1933-1936 and Red Wing Potteries from 1936-1938. Shawnee produced RumRill Pottery in 1938 for a short time. Then Florence and Gonder potteries produced RumRill until his death in 1942. George Rumrill created many of his own designs. It is interesting to note, however, that there are a number of RumRill pieces that are known Camark shapes. With George Rumrill's access to the Camark catalogs and products, this should be no surprise. There are also RumRill pieces that were made from Red Wing molds. Some of RumRill's designs were produced throughout RumRill's existence by all of the contracting pottery companies.

Symmetalic pieces were typically made of sterling silver, sometimes with gold vermeil, cultured pearls, and/or top quality rhinestones. Edwardian and Art Deco design influences are often seen. The quality of this jewelry is extremely high and it is not commonly seen. These factors are responsible for the extreme desirability of these pieces.

c1940‘s Matl Cross pendant Sterling Turquoise Amethyst and coral Designed by Matilde Poulat (AKA "Matl" (Aztec for "Water") who is & always will be one of my personal favorites that made her fame during the "Mexican Silver Renaissance Days" & later..She was a painter & designer 1st & was born in the Yucatan & later on went to study at the San Carlos Academy in Mexico City at the same time the famous muralist & husband to Frida Kahlo,Diego Rivera was studying there..One of her 1st teachers was a "P.OCHOA",a man whose works you rarely come across & you will find Matl‘s earliest works,emulating Ochoa‘s,which was nothing like the style she ended up owning.She opened shop in 1934 & ended up having her own ‘signature look",which to this day people still pay homage to her designs. She produced some of the most ornate jewelry that was being produced in Mexico back in the day..The inspirations she fell back on were inspired from the Mixtec people of Monte Alban, Oaxaca area. Each designer during the Mexican Silver Renaissance days had their own unique style,but it was Matilde,who brought the beautiful motifs of doves, flowers, and tiny bells that are reminiscent of the whimsical subjects of contemporary Mexican folk art...The beauty of her metal work,was so time consuming & was considered Baroque in style with a undeniably "Mexican"look.. She was known for laying round turquoise or coral cabochons all in one bezel that was then crimped‘ to hold the stones in,rather than setting them individually & you will see the perfect example of this style in this pin,which gives her piece‘s a whole different look,because of this. Another one of her signature styles was her time consuming ‘chasing‘ work in the metal,as well as using ‘pyramidal‘ cuts of amethyst.Every piece made are works of art..She is highly collectible!! c1950's Crockett Airplane Aluminum Cowboy spurs. No issues, market Crockett on tops as shown. OSCAR CROCKETT One of the Big 3 & world's most famous Spurmakers... As a young cowboy and blacksmith, Oscar learned the art of spurmaking from his brother Arthur. 1887 - Oscar was born into a family of true Cowboys in Pecos, TX. 1914 - His cowboy trails lead him to the Stockyards of Kansas City, MO. Oscar partnered with George Gliem and formed C & G Bits and Spurs. The partnership was later sold to C. P. Shipley with Oscar as manager. 1916 - Oscar moved to Pawhuska, OK and continued mastering his spurmaking skills from his own shop till joining the First War. 1917 - 1918 - Oscar was stationed at the Shipyards of Bremerton, WA where his metalworking skills benefited WW1 to victory. 1919 - Oscar and Arthur returned to Kansas City, MO after the War and worked for C. P. Shipley Saddlery and Merchantile Company, in the Bit and Spur Department. Oscar married Bessie Gove. 1920 - Oscar and Arthur along with their Uncle W. Brice Crockett, an oldtime cowboy, bought out the Shipley Bit and Spur line and begin...The Crockett Bit & Spur Co. 1927 - Oscar, now sole owner of Crockett Bit & Spur Co., Moved business to Lenexa, KS. as shown in photo above, produced 5,000 spurs and equal bits. Became one of "Big Three" finest bit and spur makers in the world. 1932 - Oscar Married Hazel 1938 - Introduced Airplane Metal, Aluminum Spurs 1940 - Patented Hondas, for lariats. 1943 - Moved business to Boulder, CO. Employeed up to 125 craftsmen. 1949 - Oscar died at age 62. 1951 - The Crockett Bit & Spur Co. was purchased by James Renalde, known as Crockett Renalde. 1984 - The last of the stock belonging to the Crockett-Renalde Company was liquidated.
