Bobby is the grandson of William Tewa; son of Augustina Trujillo Tewa and Larry Tewa; brother of Tommy Tewa, Freddie Tewa, Janet Yazzie, Darleen Maseyesva, Lisa Gilreath; husband of Ida Oyenque; father of Michelle Tewa, Tvette Tewa, Crystal Tewa, Ivory Tewa, and Aspen Tewa. Bobby learn jewelry making from the San Juan jewelry program and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
