Born in Winslow, Arizona, Charlie John grew up in Dilkon and began his apprenticeship at age 14. He credits his father's uncle, the famous silversmith William Singer, with teaching him the craft. By 1972, he was working in Singer's shop, later transitioning to creating his own signature pieces.
