Big Phillip Honanie sterling silver high grade turquoise buckle for 1.75" belt. Solid sterling silver (tested) with weight and measurements in pictures. Circa third quarter of the 20th century. Age appropriate wear.
Hopi artist Phillip Honanie began his career in jewelry in the late 1960's. He is considered one of the finest Hopi silversmiths, with his work being highly collectable. A member of the bear clan, his hallmark is the Hopi sign for friendship, a pair of crescents. He resided in the second Mesa village of Shungopovi, but lost his battle with diabetes in 2017.
