No dents or major wear to either pen.<br><br>The 300 and 400 series were discontinued in the early 1990’s and are now<br>difficult to find in good condition. This was the flagship version of the 402,<br>with both pens being crafted from sterling silver and featuring a CANOVA<br>guilloche design on the barrel and cap – the trim is vermeil, so gold-plating<br>over silver. The pens have the 1055 VI hallmark, which indicates that it was<br>produced by the older Aquila owned company, prior to them selling to Richemont.<br>The newer Aquila pens have a 2670 VI hallmark.<br><br>The 402 was based on a model from the 1930’s and they’re incredibly comfortable<br>writing instruments to use, even for longer writing sessions.

This thing would take a chunk<br>out of a sidewalk if dropped on it I'm sure. It's a real monster, a real work of<br>art. Both Simple yet complex at the same time. 21" x 16" x 3.5" deep, a<br>functional work of art in mint condition with no damage or wear whatsoever. John<br>used a variety of clays I believe. This is a very strong Stoneware clay(not red<br>clay) fired at a high temperature and salt glazed, therefore very durable and<br>heavy.<br><br>John Ransmeier<br>John grew up in Asheville, North Carolina. His interest in clay began in high<br>school. After a visit to the Penland School of Crafts, a bit of research and<br>some ingenuity, he built his first kick wheel in 1970. From books, he taught<br>himself how to throw clay and make pots.<br><br>During an apprenticeship with Gene Bunker, John worked in porcelain and<br>concentrated in glaze reduction. After a year of study at the Kansas City Art<br>Institute, he established a studio in the Highwater Crafts Center in Asheville,<br>NC and co-founded Biltmore Clay Company. 19th c British Imari Spode/Derby/Davenport Various Patterns Cups and Saucers.<br>The Davenport cup and saucer is c1870, the rest is early 19th century likely<br>40-50 years older. The 5.75" plate or saucer is signed with an early 19th<br>century derby mark, the cup and saucer matches but I think it may be Spode. The<br>other cup and saucer with birds is early 19th century but I didn't research the<br>maker. Only one piece has damage and that's the saucer with birds on it. It has<br>a tight very old stable hairline that can hardly be seen from the front. Selling<br>the lot.

Rose gold, yellow gold, and sterling silver inlay, 3" wide x 2.25" deep, a few edge chips on back side to tortoise shell, still overall great condition. These were all purchased in New York at Parke-Bernet Galleries before they were bought out by Sotheby's in 1964.
