c1960 c-31 Ted Edaakie Zuni Owl sterling channel inlay bolo tie with fancy tips 39" long with no issues, no identifying markings on the silver. Attributed to Theodore Edaakie, pins and bolos in this design have surfaced signed, typically later examples. 48.2 grams Ted Edaakie, who began producing in about 1930. Theodore Edaakie, called Ted Edaakie, had work represented in the C.G.Wallace catalog, the Museum of The American Indian Smithsonian Institution, The Museum of New Mexico and The Heard Museum in Arizona. Edaakie won several awards for his work. The C.G. Wallace catalog also reports the sale of two of his roadrunner pins. In the 1930‘s and 1940‘s Theodore Edaakie was employed as an artist at C. G. Wallace‘s Trading Post at Zuni. Mosaic and channel inlay pieces that Theodore made were collected by Wallace and several were sold at the 1975 Sotheby‘s Auction of Wallace‘s collection. Riley Polequaptewa Hopi Overlay bolo tie sterling bolo tie 40" long, weight and measurements in pics, solid sterling. Riley Polequaptewa has been an active silversmith since the 1970s. His specialty is the traditional Hopi silver overlay technique promoted by the Hopi Arts & Crafts Co-op Guild which was formed in 1947, after World War II, when returning Hopi servicemen were trained at a silversmithing school founded under the G.I. bill. The late Paul Saufkie, Sr. was the technical instructor and the late Fred Kabotie, noted Hopi artist and designer, taught design. Although many techniques of silver work were used, the overlay style gradually emerged as the dominate style. This simple, unique, elegant jewelry is now considered essentially the Hopi style of jewelry. The Guild‘s purpose is to produce, purchase, promote, and sell handcrafts and jewelry. The Hopi Arts and Crafts Co-op Guild has its own building on Second Mesa, Arizona, next to the Hopi Cultural Center & Museum. Any craftsman, potter, basket maker, weaver or silversmith can have his or her work displayed and sold there. Half the building is devoted to work benches and supplies for the silversmiths.

Considerably larger than most you will find.Gary Vacit was the renowned son of Frank Vacit, one of the mot famous silversmiths who worked for C. G. Wallace and was collected by CG Wallace and whose work appears many times in the Sotheby's famous auction catalogue. Gary achieved his own renown. You'll find pictures of work like this in Bell's third "Zuni The Art and the People" book, and in most of the subsequent books as well, and in some of the most famous museums and galleries, such as the Kennedy Museum of Art. Chief Wolf Robe Hunt (1905-1977) Acoma silver Bolo tie with turquoise/Jasper heart, 40" long with no issues.Wayne Wolf Robe Hunt, a full-blood Acoma Indian (1905-1977). Born on the Acoma Reservation, Wolf Robe was the son of Chief Day Break (Edward Proctor Hunt), Chief of the Delight Makers -- a man instrumental in the improvement of relations between the Acomas and whites. His mother, Morning Star, whose own father was Governor of Acoma seven times, was a potter and weaver. Wolf Robe learned silver-smithing from his older brother on the reservation. Wolf Robe achieved recovnition and fame for his jewelry and art work, winning the prestigious Philbrook Art Center's Grand Award in 1967. In addition, he was a businessman, with his own arts and crafts store in Tulsa, a lecturer, international traveller, author, and translator for the Bureau of American Ethnology. He assited L. A. White in his extensive studies of the Acoma Indians and made recordings for the National Anthropological Archives. Wolf Robe was particularly interested in the preservation of tribal customs, language and culture, and devoted his own time to this and the encouragement of others in similar efforts. Nelson Garcia is a very competent silversmith that uses the best materials and does extremely clean/high end work as is hopefully evident here. <br><br>Nelson Garcia was born October sixth, 1955 in the village of Santo Domingo Pueblo, New Mexico. He was raised in a large family made up of four brothers and four sisters. One of the eldest, he matured early and with a good heart, shared in the responsibilities of his youth. From working in the fields with his brothers or watching the trade of his father, the seeds of perfection were sown.<br><br>His father, Joe Jay Garcia, was a silversmith with talents in traditional designs and Heishi necklaces. From studying his fathers workmanship more than a talent was formed. Nelson learned that any job can be completed but if not done correctly, it is a pointless task. In his grade school years he created his first works. Buying silver from his uncle, he would make silver cones that are used as the ending tips to a Heishi necklace. Once completed, he would walk throughout the village selling his silver cones to the many artists. Who knew that these elements would lay foundations to greater achievements in the years to come.<br><br>After high school Nelson said farewell to the comforts of home and in 1974 moved to Phoenix, Arizona. In school and full of optimism, he would begin the next chapter to his life. He started working in a local jewelry store as a silversmith. Once again studying his surroundings, this experience would give him the momentum to go into business for himself. As time passed, like every man he would find his happiness. In 1975 he married his wife Helen, a Navajo from the Naakaii Dine’e clan. A year later his first child was born, a daughter whom they would name Coreen.<br><br> To any business the early years define character and will. In 1983 with a newborn son, AAron, he decided to go into business for himself. With his creations packed and loaded into his car he drove to Page, Arizona for his first Art show. That Saturday he would make his first sale as an independent artist. Sadly, that would be his only sale for that day. One ring, in which he had to debate the price, but was finally sold. With a fresh fourteen dollars in hand, one would think dread would set in. Showing resilience he drove the next day to the Coconino center in Flagstaff, Arizona. This bold step would define his business ethic. He would attend this next art show with high hopes and patient hands. Driving home later that night with four-hundred eighty dollars in his pocket, his American dream had become a reality.<br><br> As the year’s have passed, Nelson has won many distinguished awards at some of the nations largest art exhibits. From the Santa Fe Indian Market to Red Earth in Oklahoma city. His jewelry has traveled into the heart of Europe with shows in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. c1968 Frank Patania Jr Südwestlicher Modernist Sterling Bolo mit Türkis und 100 Peso mexikanischer Münze. Bolo wiegt natürlich ohne Verpackung 94 Gramm. Ein Hinweis auf die Gesundheit der zeitgenössischen Schmuckbewegung ist die Flut wichtiger Ausstellungen in den 40er und 50er Jahren. Das Museum of Modern Art in New York machte einen wichtigen Schritt, indem es 1946 die erste große Ausstellung zeitgenössischen Schmucks veranstaltete.
