Vintage Lonnie Willie Navajo stamped sterling silver necklace w/ nice turquoise. Selling the necklace shown in good condition with measurements in pictures. Tested and guaranteed solid sterling silver. Weight and measurements in pictures. Circa last quarter of the 20th century. 26" long. Lonnie Willie, Navajo is the brother to Ronnie, Juan & Rudy Willie and for those that follow the industry, Ronnie is probably one of the most well known out of the brothers. It was Lonnie however that taught Ronnie all he knows, including everybody in his immediate family, like Tawney's brother Cooper Willie AND he also taught his own mother & father what there is to know in regards to making jewelry!! You might say Lonnie is the "Maestro" of the family & what a blessing it is for Tawney to have someone that's so highly skilled as Lonnie, to have mentored her!It was Lonnie who gave Tawney her start where he started Tawney working with copper since it's a less expensive metal, so if there were mistakes(Which there always is!) it wouldn't be so costly, as well as having her working with nickel silver so she could learn the art of stampwork. sz7 Lee & Mary Weebothee Zuni sterling silver high grade turquoise cluster ring. Tested and guaranteed solid sterling silver, circa third quarter of the 20th century. Some expected wear, weight and measurements in pictures. Old pawn ring with pawn slip shown. Two of the nicest and most pleasant people in Zuni, Lee and Mary have 30 years experience and still really enjoy making jewelry.Husband-and-wife team Lee and Mary Weebothee have garnered much acclaim for their fine jewelry. In the 1970s, they were recognized as having won "more Grand Prize Awards than any Zuni artisans in history" (Scottsdale Weekly, February 13, 1970). They started working together in the late 1940s, he doing the silverwork, she cutting the stones, and both setting the domed and meticulously matched stones that make their work distinctive. They sign their work with ZUNI LEE/MARY.Lee and Mary Weebothee were among the most accomplished silversmiths in the history of Zuni arts and crafts. But even that bold statement seems inadequate for when you examine Weebothee jewelry its fine quality matches or exceeds what is being made by today's best artists. The silver in their jewelry is polished so finely it feels more like silk then metal. Their lapidary is magical. Every Coral and turquoise gemstone in a setting perfectly matches the one next to it. Not only does that take great skill and patience, but it is also very costly and time consuming to polish away blemishes in expensive stone.Much of Weebothee's jewelry was completely handmade using hand tools. Electricity did not appear in Zuni until the 1960's. Even after the arrival of electricity most silversmiths preferred working with the precision Swiss watchmaker files supplied by CG Wallace. Electric tools of the period (that were available in Zuni) were crude, cumbersome and simply not up to the task of producing the incredible detail that Zuni silversmiths were noted for.Lee and Mary Weebothee took great pride in their work and did not sell jewelry that did not meet their high standards. Weight and measurements in pictures. Circa third quarter of the 20th century. From Santo Domingo Pueblo, Vidal Aragon (1923-2015) translated pueblo life into intricate storyteller jewelry. He became internationally renown for his inventive silver and gold overlay designs. His representations of the elements of nature, animals and pueblo life are symbolic of the Indian way. One symbol refers to “everlasting happiness.” Other common motifs are animals and the tracks they make and the blessing and nourishment of corn. An expert craftsman, Aragon drew each story strip with his saw blade and soldered it to a textured oxidized underlayer to illuminate the images. He often incorporated a trademark gold disk to represent the sun or moon.Vidal Aragon learned the overlay technique in the 1930s when he was a student at the Santa Fe Indian School. Before inventing the storyteller jewelry, he experimented with tufa casting and other metalworking techniques. He briefly lived in Scottsdale where he honed his skills as a shop smith. He has fond memories of the time he spent learning ballet as a young man in Phoenix. By the early 1940s, Vidal was already being recognized alongside such prominent smiths as Ambrose Roanhorse and Tom Burnsides for his innovative yet classical designs. Aragon found his true calling though when he began to translate his rich sense of the pueblo way of life into wearable stories, often full of his unique humor. Listed with ExportYourStore.com

Fits a 7.4" wrist, circa fourth quarter of the 20th century with Kopavi shop (established 1976) hallmark.Master Hopi Silversmith, Waterhouse Clan – Shungopavi, Second MesaVictor Coochwytewa is widely regarded as one of the most influential Hopi silversmiths of the 20th century. A master of overlay jewelry and a pillar of his community, his work helped define the standards and aesthetics that Hopi jewelers continue to follow today. His career, which spanned more than 60 years, earned him national recognition, including being named an Arizona Indian Living Treasure in 1994.Born on June 7, 1922, in the village of Shungopavi on Second Mesa, Victor was a member of the Waterhouse Clan. He first learned the basics of silversmithing in 1940 under the guidance of Paul Saufkie. But his early career was interrupted by World War II, during which he served with distinction in the South Pacific. A member of the 167th Combat Military Police and later the 5309th Infantry Division under General Frank Merrill (Merrill’s Marauders), Victor saw heavy combat in Burma and was awarded the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbons. After being honorably discharged in 1946, Victor returned to Hopi and became one of the first students in the now-legendary Veterans’ Classes established under the G.I. Bill. Taught by Fred Kabotie and Paul Saufkie, these classes marked the beginning of a new era in Hopi silversmithing. Victor not only mastered the overlay technique but innovated within it—introducing a background texturing method inspired by leatherwork that became a defining feature of Hopi overlay jewelry.Victor's designs, executed in both sterling silver and gold, are known for their precision, spiritual depth, and elegant symbolism. Many of his pieces reflect Hopi traditions and cosmology, and his work has been collected by major institutions and private collectors around the world. In addition to his artistry, Victor was deeply rooted in the traditional Hopi way of life. A lifelong dry farmer, he raised corn, squash, beans, and watermelons without irrigation or chemical inputs, relying entirely on prayer, ceremony, and natural rainfall. “Jewelry is my hobby; corn is my work,” he once said with characteristic humility. He attributed the success of both his crops and his craft to blessings from the Creator. “When you pray, you should pray for all things, and in return, all things are benefited. Nothing can be accomplished without prayer.”Victor retired from silversmithing and farming in 2006 and continued to live with his family at Hopi until his passing on July 3, 2011, at the age of 89. Today, his legacy lives on in the work of his descendants and in the broader community of Hopi artists who follow the path he helped shape. His jewelry remains among the most iconic and sought-after expressions of Hopi artistry—no serious collection of Hopi overlay work is truly complete without a piece by Victor Coochwytewa. He studied under the legendary Kenneth Begay at the Navajo Community College in Many Farms, Arizona, where he developed the foundational skills and artistic discipline that would define his career.Under Begay’s mentorship, James Little refined a distinctive style that blends traditional Navajo motifs—such as Yei figures and woven patterns—with minimalist and modern forms. His jewelry is known for its clean lines, symbolic depth, and impeccable craftsmanship. Whether working in sterling silver or incorporating high-grade stones, Little’s pieces reflect both cultural heritage and refined artistry. In 1979, Little was prominently featured in Arizona Highways magazine’s special Collector’s Edition, “The New Look in Indian Jewelry,” which spotlighted the emergence of contemporary Native American jewelry. This recognition solidified his place among the leading Native American jewelers of the Southwest.Today, James Little is recognized as one of the foremost Native American silversmiths, with work featured in galleries, museum collections, and private collections worldwide. Ike Wilson Navajo (1900-1942) 1930's vintage sterling silver ashtray thunderbird accents. Weight and measurements in pictures. Tested and guaranteed solid sterling silver with no issues. Apparently unmarked, circa second quarter of the 20th century. Ike Wilson (1900-1942) hallmark signature of bow and arrow symbol.Diné silversmith Ike Wilson worked for many years for the Kelsey Trading Company at Zuni. He did silverwork for many of the Zuni lapidary artists including Ida Vacit Poblano. He often collaborated with his wife, Katherine Wilson.Navajo Nation artist Ike Wilson (1900-1942) would sign his creations with his bow and arrow hallmark. There has been some confusion in the past about the hallmark of Ike Wilson (1901-1942). It seems that sometimes his work was attributed to Austin Wilson. Both men were born in the same year and in a similar area of the reservation and both men worked at times for trader C. G. Wallace and the Kelsey Trading Company. Ike Wilson’s work is signed with a bow and arrow. After his death in 1942, his wife Katherine Wilson (1907-1985) continued to use his hallmark. The bow and arrow hallmark was initially attributed to Ike’s contemporary, Austin Wilson, but the corrected attribution was published in Messier, 2014. Listed with ExportYourStore.com

Philbert Poseyesva Hopi 14k gold/Sterling silver charoite dangle earrings. Great earrings with no issues, tested and guaranteed solid 14k gold, any marks detected, weight, and measurements will be shown in the pictures. Circa last quarter of the 20th century. Phil Poseyesva mastered the technique of traditional Hopi overlay as a young silversmith. A self-taught artist, he started making jewelry at the age of thirteen. Today, Phil takes the clean, abstract designs of Hopi overlay and combines them with high quality stones such as natural turquoise, lapis lazuli and coral, making his work easily distinguishable from others. While the symbols Phil uses are drawn from centuries old traditions, his work has a very modern and abstract look. He uses both sterling silver and 14-karat gold. The stones and shapes of his jewelry are often asymmetrical, adding even more drama to the highly polished silver on black background.Hopi overlay is described as sleek, clean, balanced and dramatic. The artists take abstract Hopi symbols representing clan symbols, rain clouds, corn, birds and katsinas that were used in pottery and basketmaking, and place them into silver and gold. The Hopi overlay technique was developed in the late 1930s to give Hopi jewelry a distinctive look. The process is difficult and requires precision and a steady hand to achieve the smooth lines and intricate detail.Rather than making a stencil to use as a guide to cut his silver, Poseyesva draws his designs directly onto the silver or gold. A hole is punched into the silver and a tiny saw is used to cut out the design. In an appliqué-like technique, the designs are soldered onto a bottom layer of silver that will become the contrasting background. After the piece is cooled, Poseyesva uses his own handmade chisels to create a textured background that follows the shape of the design. Chemicals oxidize and darken this layer. The textured and oxidized recessed background, combined with the highly polished raised surface, gives Hopi jewelry its characteristic look.Poseyesva comes from the Second Mesa Village of Mishongnovi on the Hopi Reservation in Northern Arizona. Although he has gone to school and worked in several fields both on and off the Reservation -- building construction, diesel mechanics, landscaping and recreation -- he has always maintained his art of jewelry making. Poseyesva says that it's often during these breaks from full-time jewelry making that he gets re-energized and comes up with new design ideas. A member of the Bear Clan, Phil signs his work with a stylized bear paw or a double "P."a whole new aesthetic level, keeping the vital connection with their past, yet transcending it. Their style is now fully international.” Listed with ExportYourStore.com
