Carmen Beckmann sold jewelry from a shop she owned and operated out of her home in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico from the 1950’s through the 1970’s. Experts believe her jewelry was produced by multiple silversmiths and her hallmark affixed to the jewelry. Her work often draws on pre-Columbian designs presented in modernist contexts. She is known for necklaces, rings, pins, brooches, and earrings that employ silver and copper decorated with jade and other semi-precious stones. It is not entirely clear what role she played in the design of work she sold, but her mark on sterling silver jewelry indicates a collectible piece.

Large Jerry T Nelson Navajo Coral and opal sterling pendant.Award winning Diné artist Jerry T. Nelson is known for channel inlay turquoise. Interestingly, his designs are a combination of Diné of the Navajo Nation, Hopi, and Zuni styles. He has been honored with awards at Gallup Inter-tribal Indian Ceremonial.Although artist Jerry T. Nelson is Diné, he was born in 1959 at Keams Canyon, Arizona, on the Hopi Reservation. That could explain his exposure to Hopi overlay silver work. He now lives in one of the towns named Canoncito, New Mexico. As is frequently observed, several communities have the same name. There are six known locations in New Mexico named Canoncito- in Mora, Bernalillo, Rio Arriba, San Miguel, Santa Fe and Taos Counties. Born on the Acoma Reservation, Wolf Robe was the son of Chief Day Break (Edward Proctor Hunt), Chief of the Delight Makers -- a man instrumental in the improvement of relations between the Acomas and whites. His mother, Morning Star, whose own father was Governor of Acoma seven times, was a potter and weaver. Wolf Robe learned silver-smithing from his older brother on the reservation. Wolf Robe achieved recovnition and fame for his jewelry and art work, winning the prestigious Philbrook Art Center's Grand Award in 1967. In addition, he was a businessman, with his own arts and crafts store in Tulsa, a lecturer, international traveller, author, and translator for the Bureau of American Ethnology. He assited L. A. White in his extensive studies of the Acoma Indians and made recordings for the National Anthropological Archives. Wolf Robe was particularly interested in the preservation of tribal customs, language and culture, and devoted his own time to this and the encouragement of others in similar efforts. Of his work at BAE he said, "My work there as an interpreter is the highlight of my efforts in trying to preseve all of the rich and wholesome lore of my people."* Not only was the preservation of the 'old ways' important to Wolf Robe, but also the representation and dissemination of his culture to whites, in an effort to promote their understanding and appreciation. He travelled all over Europe and to Australia for the Departments of Agriculture and Commerce, representing the American Indian to an appreciative audience. All precious metals are tested and guaranteed. 1 auf Lager

6 5/8" Richard Begay Navajo silver multi-stone cuff bracelet Richard Begay was born and raised in Navajoland, Arizona. Throughout his art classes in school, he always wanted to create the perfect shape. His first career, however, took him into the Forest Industry. He soon realized that he wanted to follow the yearnings of his heart and create beautiful jewelry. He borrowed jewelry tools from his father-in-law and set to work, learning the demanding craft of silversmithing. Richard was immediately drawn to the intricate inlay work, for which he is known for. As he perfected his craft, Richard explored different techniques of inlaying. He was always searching for the best way, the most beautiful setting, the perfect harmony of material and craft. He also developed an eye for choosing the best stones for his inlay. Turquoise and coral are his favorite, but Richard used a wide variety of stones and shells, including malachite, spiny oyster, and pacific coral. Not limited to the usual in anything he did, he also inlaid opals, sugilite, lapis and other exotic stones into his award-winning pieces. The importance of harmony in his work was echoed in his silverwork, especially his pendants. In these pieces, he incorporated important symbols from his culture. Corn was a significant gift to the People by the Creator--it represents life to the Navajo. The Yei-Be-Che is the personal link between the Navajo gods and mortal man. The Bear, one of the four animals given to the first people, embodies power and wisdom. It was provided for protection and guidance, and to ward off evil. Richard also used the Steppe Design found in the wedding baskets and recreates special times, such as the social dances he goes to. Encircling it all is his extraordinary inlay, adding color and life. The beautiful things Richard looked for exist in his creations.Richard passed away in 2013.Marked or unmarked as shown in pics, weight and other measurements in pics. It represents the sacred Sun Father. The Zuni people honor the Sun's vital role in changing seasons and successful crops, recognizing that the warmth of the sun sustains life, enables growth, and brings joy and prosperity. The round motif of the symbol depicts the Sun with a forehead split down the middle to reflect the infinite balance between sunrise and sunset. A Native American jewelry piece referred to as "silver" or "ingot" is guaranteed to be at least 90% silver. sz12 Alvin Monte Navajo 14k/Sterling turquoise ring. 14k solid yellow gold bezel, the rest is sterling. 13.2 grams.

Navajo jewelry artist Alvin Monte works in both gold and silver, often making his own stamping tools to create one-of-a-kind designs. Born in Socorro, Monte grew up in Canoncito, New Mexico. Both his parents were well-known silversmiths but Monte didn’t pick up the trade until he moved away from home. He is a self-taught silversmith. His inspirations often come from petroglyphs or pueblo designs although the execution of his designs is more symbolic than realistic. The result is a more modern verses traditional design that he likes to embellish with various stones including amethysts and garnets for a lustrous effect.

Monte is now teaching his young son, who at age nine shows a talent for silver-smithing, thus elevating another generation of the Montes into the artist world
Marked or unmarked as shown in pics, weight and other measurements in pics.
