• Nelson Garcia - Kewa Sterling and high grade turquosie pendant - Estate Fresh Austin

Nelson Garcia - Kewa Sterling and high grade turquosie pendant

    1 in stock

Nelson Garcia - Kewa Sterling and high grade turquosie pendant. No issues, weight and measurements in pics. Nelson Garcia is a very competent silversmith that uses the best materials and does extremely clean/high end work as is hopefully evident here.

Nelson Garcia was born October sixth, 1955 in the village of Santo Domingo Pueblo, New Mexico. He was raised in a large family made up of four brothers and four sisters. One of the eldest, he matured early and with a good heart, shared in the responsibilities of his youth. From working in the fields with his brothers or watching the trade of his father, the seeds of perfection were sown.

His father, Joe Jay Garcia, was a silversmith with talents in traditional designs and Heishi necklaces. From studying his fathers workmanship more than a talent was formed. Nelson learned that any job can be completed but if not done correctly, it is a pointless task. In his grade school years he created his first works. Buying silver from his uncle, he would make silver cones that are used as the ending tips to a Heishi necklace. Once completed, he would walk throughout the village selling his silver cones to the many artists. Who knew that these elements would lay foundations to greater achievements in the years to come.

After high school Nelson said farewell to the comforts of home and in 1974 moved to Phoenix, Arizona. In school and full of optimism, he would begin the next chapter to his life. He started working in a local jewelry store as a silversmith. Once again studying his surroundings, this experience would give him the momentum to go into business for himself. As time passed, like every man he would find his happiness. In 1975 he married his wife Helen, a Navajo from the Naakaii Dinee clan. A year later his first child was born, a daughter whom they would name Coreen. To any business the early years define character and will. In 1983 with a newborn son, AAron, he decided to go into business for himself. With his creations packed and loaded into his car he drove to Page, Arizona for his first Art show. That Saturday he would make his first sale as an independent artist. Sadly, that would be his only sale for that day. One ring, in which he had to debate the price, but was finally sold. With a fresh fourteen dollars in hand, one would think dread would set in. Showing resilience he drove the next day to the Coconino center in Flagstaff, Arizona. This bold step would define his business ethic. He would attend this next art show with high hopes and patient hands. Driving home later that night with four-hundred eighty dollars in his pocket, his American dream had become a reality.

As the years have passed, Nelson has won many distinguished awards at some of the nations largest art exhibits. From the Santa Fe Indian Market to Red Earth in Oklahoma city. His jewelry has traveled into the heart of Europe with shows in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. He has formed relationships of trust with his many customers in the western world. Assured perfection in his work is what should be expected. Only selecting the finest stones and designing the most careful expressions. He lives a life of success in Phoenix to this day with his wife and family. All precious metals are tested and guaranteed,

  • Nelson Garcia Santo Domingo Silver bolo tie with high grade turquoise - Estate Fresh Austin

Dasi bolo perak Nelson Garcia Santo Domingo dengan pirus bermutu tinggi

    1 in stock

Lead by mentors, such as Kenneth Begay and the Kee brothers, jewelers working at the White Hogan produced an amazing array of modern designs in jewelry and flat ware. This buckle depicts this style of work perfectly.

Northwestern Terra-Cotta Denver Colorado Sample Dog Doorstop/Bookend. 5.5" tall x 5" deep, a few glaze flakes on base, no large chips, no cracks, no restorations. Rare example tw119 Northwestern Terra Cotta Co. Founded in Chicago in 1878 by a group of investors including John R. True, this company became a major producer of terra cotta trimmings used by the construction industry. By the early 1890s, when Northwestern Terra Cotta employed approximately 500 men, annual sales approached $600,000. By 1910, its large plant at Clybourn and Wrightwood Avenues had about 1,000 workers. The popularity of placing terra cotta moldings on building facades peaked in the 1920s, and Northwestern Terra Cotta led the way, in Chicago and around the country. Around this time, the company opened plants in St. Louis and Denver. Beginning with Louis Sullivan earlier in the century, prominent Chicago architects like Frank Lloyd Wright had extensive contracts with the company. Included among the many landmark Chicago buildings for which Northwestern supplied extensive decorative moldings were the Civic Opera House, the Chicago Theater, the Wrigley Building, and the Randolph Tower. Northwestern's operations in Chicago declined alongside the construction industry during Great Depression and never returned to their 1920s levels. In 1965, Northwestern Terra Cotta Co.'s only remaining plant, in Denver, closed.

Olga Quezada Mata Ortiz pottery jar

    1 in stock

Olga Quezada Mata Ortiz pottery jar 5" wide x 3 7/8" tall with no damage or detectable wear. Olga Quezada Hernandez is one of the first generation master potters whose work is highly sought after in Mata Ortiz, Mexico. She is married to Humberto Ledezma, and her son is the very well known potter Guadalupe Ledezma. Olga Quezada works in the traditional cuadricula pattern of squares, and favors the use of a gorgeous deep earthy brown clay that stands out from the rest. Her work is easily identifiable for it's beauty, precision and precisely painted design. Olga is one of the few original first generation potters that are still faithfully crafting gorgeous pottery, and her work bears all the hallmarks of light weight museum quality work. There is so much elegance in this piece. Contemporary, modern and sleek.. yet using all of the traditional techniques of Mata Ortiz pottery. With all of the precision in this piece, it is hard to believe that it was hand polished using an agate stone and painted with long strands of human hair. The clay used in this piece has been dug from the local countryside, and then refined to remove most impurities. This allows the clay to be used in hand forming this pot without the use of a potters wheel! tw147

About Patricia Von Musulin Dedicated to experimentation and exploration, Patricia von Musulin has worked extensively to redefine the notion of “accessories. Bold, her work has been featured in international advertising campaigns, countless magazines as well as "on the runway" with both American and International fashion designers. Estee Lauder, Revlon, Elizabeth Arden, Lancôme, Victoria‘s Secret, Absolute Vodka, Cover Girl, Gap, Kohler, and Goldenpoint have used her accessories in their advertising. A partial listing of fashion designers who have featured her work in both their advertising campaigns as well as in their runway shows include: Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Adrienne Vittadini, Bill Blass, Geoffrey Beene, Carolina Herrera, Chado, Ralph Rucci, Bally, Cole Haan, and Bogner. Her first working relationships were with Donna Karan and Louis Dellolio for Anne Klein, Pauline Trigere, Giorgio Sant‘Angelo and Perry Ellis. Perry Ellis personally nominated her to the "Council of Fashion Designer of America" when he was the President. Her work has appeared editorially in both national and international magazines: Vogue, German Vogue, Italian Vogue, French Vogue, Vogue Taiwan, Harpers Bazaar, Harpers Bazaar en Espanol, Trace, Numero, Flair, Cosmopolitan, Cosmopolitan en Espanol,Town and Country, Vibe, Latina, Essence, “W Magazine, Visionaire, Zink, Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, Elle, Elle Décor, Forbes Magazine, American Express Departure Magazine, Conde Nast Traveler, to name just a few. Feature articles have appeared in "The New York Times", "Corriere Della Serra", "The International Herald Tribune", "Dallas Daily News" and "Womens Wear Daily" Her early career, prior to her current involvement with fashion, was in the field of industrial design. Clients ranged from "The Metropolitan Museum of Art", for whom she created many of the reproductions of objects for the "King Tut" show, to Pierre Cardin for whom she helped design his automobile. She also had the privilege to work closely with the famous scientist and art restorer, Gustav Berger. Creating a body of work known as much for its powerful originality and signature style as for its unique aesthetic ambition, Patricia von Musulin seeks to use her work to re-imagine the very idea of jewelry itself. Her collections employ a wide array of materials to evoke deep symbolism and psychological associations. Crystal-like transparency evoke the undulating currents of water, the source of all life. In contrast, the deep black tones of her "Ebony Collection" reflect our cultural fascination with "The Primitive" and the multiracial nature of contemporary urban life. Her work is in the permanent collections of "The Metropolitan Museum of Art", "The Boston Museum of Fine Arts", "The National Museum of American History of the Smithsonian Institution" as well as "The Museum at the Fashion institute of Technology". Although Patricia von Musulin lives a very international lifestyle, at home in Istanbul or Prague as much as New York, all of her designs are manufactured in New York City.
