1990 Houston Texas World Economic Summit Bronze Medal
1990 Houston Texas World Economic Summit Bronze Medal. 62 mm diameter with no issues or wear. It came to me in this box which is just a generic box, came with original paper shown. History for the Preservationist: The 1990 G-7 Economic Summit medal. The insignia on medal includes the seven countries participating (USA, Canada, France, West Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom) with its corresponding flag, as well as the CEC and the flag of Europe. The symbol of a star is in the center of the medal. The 16th G7 Summit was held at Houston between July 9 and 11, 1990. The venue for the summit meetings was the campus of Rice University and other locations nearby in the Houston Museum District. The Group of Seven (G7) was an unofficial forum which brought together the heads of the richest industrialized countries: France, West Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada (since 1976) and the President of the European Commission (starting officially in 1981). The summits were not meant to be linked formally with wider international institutions; and in fact, a mild rebellion against the stiff formality of other international meetings was a part of the genesis of cooperation between France's President Giscard d'Estaing and West Germany's Chancellor Helmut Schmidt as they conceived the first Group of Six ( G6) summit in 1975. tw248

1993 David Lotton Leaf and Vine Art glass vase Iridized interior
1993 David Lotton Leaf and Vine Art glass vase 7.75" tall with no cracks, chips, restorations, or wear. Signed David Lotton 1993 Leaf and Vine. The inside of this vase is iridescent. DAVID LOTTON David Lotton is a second generation American glassblower. He is the oldest son of Charles Lotton and was introduced to the world of glassblowing at a very young age. In 1970, Charles started building a furnace and began blowing pieces of glass from melted down pop bottles in a shed behind their house. David was there in this infancy and he was Charles first assistant at the age of ten. David has vivid memories of his childhood working in the shop with his father. When most children were playing childhood games he was spending time after school and on the weekends helping him at the bench. By the age of 14 he started learning how to do finishing work, polishing the bottom of the glass flat. David eventually followed in his fathers' footsteps and by the age of 15 began making paperweights. That ignited a passion to begin glass blowing. David has been creating his one of a kind vessels since 1978. His unique handcrafted works are designed with precise attention to detail. Developing his own glass formulas, David has created a complex palette of colors, giving him the ability to create his multi-layering and sculpting style. Each year David continues to study and refine the techniques he uses in creating his art. David's Clematis Reflection Series, Hollyhock Paperweight Series and Mixed Bouquets Series all reflect his floral patterns which capture his love for detail. He combines color and layering to create depth and beauty. His Organic Sculptures reflect movement and rich hues of a summer sunset. David is inspired by all nature. He has a successful ranch in the hills of Kentucky where he is inspired to evolve, change, and grow continually. He commutes back and forth to fulfill both loves. tw274

If you would like to chat, that would be great, but lets chat about something that isn't answered in this listing that we put so much effort into already :)

All precious metals are tested and guaranteed. A Native American jewelry piece referred to as "silver" or "ingot" is guaranteed to be at least 90% silver. I rarely use the word "sterling" when referring to older Native American silver or really any older silver jewelry as silver contents vary and "sterling" is 92.5% silver. No older jewelry is going to be exactly 92.5% silver, some a little over, some a little under. It wasn't an exact thing with handmade jewelry. I've seen thousands of pieces xrf'd to prove this. Bracelets are photographed on a 6" women's wrist.

1998 John Ransmeier North Carolina Pottery Huge Heavy Studio Pottery Platter
1998 John Ransmeier North Carolina Pottery Huge Heavy Studio Pottery Platter.
Very heavy, strong, durable, high fired platter. This thing would take a chunk
out of a sidewalk if dropped on it I'm sure. It's a real monster, a real work of
art. Both Simple yet complex at the same time. 21" x 16" x 3.5" deep, a
functional work of art in mint condition with no damage or wear whatsoever. John
used a variety of clays I believe. This is a very strong Stoneware clay(not red
clay) fired at a high temperature and salt glazed, therefore very durable and
heavy.

John Ransmeier
John grew up in Asheville, North Carolina. His interest in clay began in high
school. After a visit to the Penland School of Crafts, a bit of research and
some ingenuity, he built his first kick wheel in 1970. From books, he taught
himself how to throw clay and make pots.

During an apprenticeship with Gene Bunker, John worked in porcelain and
concentrated in glaze reduction. After a year of study at the Kansas City Art
Institute, he established a studio in the Highwater Crafts Center in Asheville,
NC and co-founded Biltmore Clay Company. He went on to study with potters Seth
Duberstein of New Paltz, New York and Paul Chaleff of Pine Plains, New York.

After working as a studio potter in production porcelain, John studied for two
years at The University of North Carolina at Asheville and then received his BFA
from Alfred University in Alfred, New York in 1990. He spent some time doing
graduate work at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, and then moved to
Santa Fe, New Mexico where he established a working studio for the next four
years.

After returning to North Carolina in 1994, John built a wood fire kiln and
established a studio in Weaverville, North Carolina where he lives and works
today. His work has spanned a wide spectrum of processes, clay bodies, glazes
and style. John continues to travel across the country exhibiting in fine craft
shows and selling his work in galleries and museums in the southeast.

John Ransmeier Pottery, Weaverville NC

All work is assembled from slab, wheel-thrown, pressed and coil elements. Pieces
are then high fired in a reducing atmosphere using biofuel.

Making pots is about evolution. As long as I feel my work is progressing,I don't
worry. Not long ago,I tried to maintain control over surfaces and glazes. In
reaction to that,I have gravitated toward a looser way of making pieces using
glazes that I could't control even if I tried.Perhaps reduction firing, with its
own tendency toward variation has nudged me in this direction.I am always
looking for ways to allow my work to progress. There is a saying, "At the point
of origin, lie the most possibilities. "My goal is to keep enough freedom in my
work to allow those possibilities to take form.

1999 14.5" Debbie Fecher Gramstad Face Vase
No cracks, chips, or restorations. 14.5" tall x 8" wide one of a kind item.Well known for her shakers Originally created in 1981 as a means to inspire a stressed-out friend "to take life with a grain of salt", the Shakers actually began their lives a functional salt and pepper shakers. Nineteen years and 30,000 sculptures later… the shakers have evolved into a collection of figurative ceramic art that is displayed and sold in galleries nationwide. Each Shaker is a page in the diary of my life, a 3-dimensional metaphor, which arise from my day-to-day experiences. These living doodles are tiny monuments to the daily experiences of "being". The sculptures capture life's moments of absurdity, contradiction, pain, joy, befuddlement and love. Each Shaker is a completely unique piece of sculpture. They are carefully handcrafted of fine porcelain, then fired and individually hand-painted. No two are ever alike. And the Shakers do indeed let us "take life with a grain of salt" by making us laugh and cry at the absurdity of our predicaments, the humor of our foibles and the wonder of being human. Tw49

These containers may have been pouches or
small woven baskets, but the most popular were crafted boxes (inrō) held shut by
ojime, sliding beads on cords. Whatever the form of the container, the fastener
which secured the cord at the top of the sash was a carved, button-like toggle
called a netsuke. Netsuke, like inrō and ojime, evolved over time from being
strictly utilitarian into objects of great artistic merit and an expression of
extraordinary craftsmanship. Netsuke production was most popular during the Edo
period (1603–1867). Netsuke and inrō declined as Japanese clothes were gradually
westernized from the Meiji period (1868–1912). Because of their popularity
amongst Western collectors at the time, some of the greatest collections are now
found outside of Japan
