6.25" Benny Armijo Navajo high grade mult-stone inlay modernist sterling cuff bracelet. All high grade natural material with no issues.. No damage or issues. Benny Armijo (1937-2022).   Benny was a renowned master Navajo silversmith who specialized in this complex inlay and "corn row" type cobblestone inlay using high quality stones.  His jewelry was featured on the Oprah Winfrey show and was collected by many high-profile artists from James Taylor, Charlie Daniels, to Hank Williams Jr. His pieces can be seen on many album covers of top music groups and are highly collectable today. His incredible sense of humor was as well-known as his jewelry. He was simply the most generous man that one could ever imagine, always helping complete strangers he encountered along the way. He was active from the early 70's until the late 20th century..   His older mark from the 1970's looks like a tadpole and has been misattributed to "Edward Zuni", but I'm 100% sure this is Benny Armijo's work and hallmark, it's been confirmed by his living relatives.   Benny was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico Benito M Armijo Jr  The older stamp he first used was to represent the letter C and letter M which stood for Chief Marcos. Many years later maybe around 1989 he stamped his jewelry with Benny Armijo. He lived in California for many years and returned to New Mexico and passed away January 2022. He was known for his stone inlay on what he called a Hopi wedding band in which all the stones were inlaid inside the ring or bracelet. Giving the thought that the beauty between the couple is in the eye of the beholder and the couple would choose the different color of stones and their meanings to be inlaid on their wedding bands.

No<br>issues.<br><br>Zuni silversmith, Dan Simplicio (1917-1969) learned the art of jewelry making<br>from his uncle, Juan DeDios, one of the earliest Zuni silversmiths. Although<br>this World War II veteran only had about 30 short years of jewelry making, his<br>talent and techniques are still recognized. Simplicio is one of the first known<br>artists to begin incorporating natural red coral branches and rough-cut coral<br>nuggets into his jewelry. As early as 1931, it is also said that he is possibly<br>one of the first Zuni artists to begin using gold. Larry Martinez Chavez is a traditional Navajo jeweler who works out of Albuquerque, NM. His jewelry is ornamental with heavy carving, stamp work and raised overlay using traditional and sometimes romantic images that marry the past with the present. Larry uses heavy gauge sterling silver, large single turquoise stones from favorite mines or perfectly matched stones to accent his intricate pieces. Dragonflies, butterflies, hummingbirds, flowers of any type, whorls and stems all contribute to the overall finished piece. He lives in Gallup, New Mexico with his wife and children. He is recognized for making top-quality, high-end jewelry. Larry passed away Dec. 11, 2020, in Albuquerque.

I am extremely confident that this is Mark Chee's work, it is obviously an old bracelet, circa mid 20th century. The stampings, the clean bezels around the abstract natural stones, the back, overall design, everything about it is indicative of Mark Chee's work.<br><br>Mark Chee (1914-1981) Biography<br>Navajo artist, Mark Chee is among the earliest southwest silversmiths. Mark Chee is known for traditional stamp work and high quality stone settings in unusually heavy silver. He was born in Lukachukai, Arizona around 1900 and was sent to government school at Fort Defiance (a United States government practice during that time) from the age of 10 to the 11thgrade. He is the elder brother of Joe Chee. <br><br>He was active during the 1930s through ‘60s. He specialized in heavy silver in old style designs. He began polishing silver in Julius Gans’ Southwest Art and Crafts shop in Santa Fe for $5.00 a week. He then bought a few tools and used them all his life. He quickly became an accomplished silversmith and was hired as a bench smith at Frank Patania’s Thunderbird Shop and later at Al Packard’s shop on the Santa Fe Plaza.
