6.5" Abraham Begay Navajo Silver Sugilite, High grade turquoise, opal, and coral cuff bracelet.

Abraham Begay was born in 1953 in Ganado, AZ and currently lives in Flagstaff, Arizona. Abraham has been making jewelry since the 1970s and is regarded among the top contemporary Navajo (Dine) silversmiths.

Abraham Begay’s style and talents are very diverse. He has mastered the silversmithing techniques of overlay and stamping, with a great deal of precision that results in very unique designs. However, what sets him apart from his peers is most likely his distinct lapidary (inlay) work.

Abraham uses bright colors and quality, high grade stones in every piece. His inlay designs often extend beyond the silver edges, as if the inlaid stones are growing out of the piece itself. This is a very difficult technique and results in colorful edges that boldly contrast the traditional silverwork beneath.

Marked or unmarked as shown in pics, weight and other measurements in pics. Sorry but my jewelry is stored in a secure location and cannot be accessed for more pictures,
videos, or measurements until sold. If you look at pictures/description your
question should be answered. Thank you so much for your time and consideration! If you would like to chat, that would be great, but lets chat about something that isn't answered in this listing that we put so much effort into already :)

All precious metals are tested and guaranteed. A Native American jewelry piece referred to as "silver" or "ingot" is guaranteed to be at least 90% silver. I rarely use the word "sterling" when referring to older Native American silver or really any older silver jewelry as silver contents vary and "sterling" is 92.5% silver. No older jewelry is going to be exactly 92.5% silver, some a little over, some a little under. It wasn't an exact thing with handmade jewelry. I've seen thousands of pieces xrf'd to prove this. 6.5" Benny Armijo 1980's Southwestern-Modernist Multi-stone inlay cuff bracelet

    1 in magazzino

6.5" Benny Armijo 1980's Southwestern-Modernist Multi-stone inlay cuff bracelet. Sugilite, a few types of turquoise, a few petrified things, Lapis. No damage or issues. Benny Armijo (1937-2022). Benny was a renowned master Navajo silversmith who specialized in this complex inlay and "corn row" type cobblestone inlay using high quality stones. His jewelry was featured on the Oprah Winfrey show and was collected by many high-profile artists from James Taylor, Charlie Daniels, to Hank Williams Jr. His pieces can be seen on many album covers of top music groups and are highly collectable today. His incredible sense of humor was as well-known as his jewelry. He was simply the most generous man that one could ever imagine, always helping complete strangers he encountered along the way. He was active from the early 70's until the late 20th century.. His older mark from the 1970's looks like a tadpole and has been misattributed to "Edward Zuni", but I'm 100% sure this is Benny Armijo's work and hallmark, it's been confirmed by his living relatives. Benny was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico Benito M Armijo Jr The older stamp he first used was to represent the letter C and letter M which stood for Chief Marcos. Many years later maybe around 1989 he stamped his jewelry with Benny Armijo. He lived in California for many years and returned to New Mexico and passed away January 2022. He was known for his stone inlay on what he called a Hopi wedding band in which all the stones were inlaid inside the ring or bracelet. Giving the thought that the beauty between the couple is in the eye of the beholder and the couple would choose the different color of stones and their meanings to be inlaid on their wedding bands.

6.5" Bev Etsate Zuni inlaid plaque in Navajo heavy stamped silver cuff bracelet. The silver work on this cuff is way better than any Bev Etsate cuffs I've seen. It's signed on the back illegibly, very nice silverwork. Likely a collaboration.

Beverly Etsate is an acclaimed Zuni Inlay artist. Bev is the daughter of revered Zuni artists Rosalie and Augustine Pinto. Bev continues her parents’ tradition of inlaid jewelry by producing jewelry in the same style as her elders. As she had learned from her parents she has been a teacher to her two sons Carl Etsate a fetish carver and Todd Etsate as well as her daughter Tracy Bowekaty, a jewelry maker who is also following in her mother’s and grandparents’ paths.

She has over 40 years of experience in her craft. Over that time, she has become one of Zuni's foremost jewelers.

Her work ranges through all the traditional techniques of Zuni: mosaic inlay, raised inlay, animated, pictorial inlay, and also needlepoint. She creates overlay and inlay figures, blossoms, holiday themes, corn style inlay, and needlepoint. Some of her favorite designs are kachinas, mudheads and bears. A great sense of humor is evident in many of her holiday pieces.

Marked or unmarked as shown in pics, weight and other measurements in pics. No older jewelry is going to be exactly 92.5% silver, some a little over, some a little under. It wasn‘t an exact thing with handmade jewelry. I‘ve seen thousands of pieces xrf‘d to prove this. Clarence Lee (1952-2011) Bracciale Navajo in argento largo 22 mm. (Clarence dipinge ancora occasionalmente.)Sig. Fortunatamente, i primi spettacoli hanno fornito incoraggiamento all’argentiere emergente. 6.5" Norbert Peshlakai Navajo sterling forged cuff bracelet No issues, weight and measurements in pics. Norbert Peshlakai was born on May 6, 1953, into the Black Sheep clan of the Dine people. Growing up in Crystal, New Mexico, with nine brothers and sisters, his mother is an accomplished weaver and all of his sisters and one brother followed in her footsteps. Norbert began discovering his artistic abilities as a painter in high school, starting with landscapes and abstract portraiture. He enrolled in painting classes at the University of Kansas intending to pursue a career in art. On a whim he decided to take a single jewelry making class, but after making mistakes on his first few class assignments he began to think, “making jewelry must not be my thing. He started skipping classes, until one day he ran into his teacher on campus. His teacher told him he was failing due to his absences and in order to pass he needed to present his sketchbook, identify 65 necessary tools, and make six pieces of jewelry. Norbert made more than six pieces of jewelry, and passed the examination with ease. As the teacher was photographing all of his students end of semester work in class, he motioned for Peshlakai to come over and take a look into the camera. When Norbert saw his jewelry through the lens of the camera something struck him, he reminisced, “I saw my work for the first time. Norbert continued through college attempting both painting and jewelry, but it was not long before jewelry took over as his passion. The artist sees his jewelry as a combination of painting and sculpture, and credits the sculptural work of John Boomers abstract wooden forms as an inspiration for him throughout his career. Norbert makes his own unique stamps from concrete nails to create imaginative, energetic patterns on his spirited shapes and has developed his own style of textures and overlays he is now known for. In the late 1970s he began making intricately ornamented silver pots, something he was introduced to in college and continues to experiment with today. His work is identified with a hallmark he created in the very beginning of his career consisting of a circle, dot, and v stamp forming the shape of an eye, symbolizing ‘vision. Norbert continues to make jewelry and silver pots from his home in Gallup, New Mexico, breathing life into his creative, one-of-a-kind pieces.
