c1949 Sterling Napoleon Hood Ornament by Garrard & Co Ltd. So I'm thinking this came off a Very expensive European car made in 1949 but I'm not 100% sure as I don't know the car, if I'm correct it would have been a limited production type of deal. I can find no other examples of this figure . The threading and another small prong I would assume to lock it in place extend slightly beyond it's base so it would need to be displayed on a base with a slight recess or the bolt could be ground down but if it is what I think it is and it's really that rare, maybe not such a good idea. 3 7/8" tall 167.8 grams. Regardless of what it is it is a high quality Sterling silver Napoleon figure that is extremely rare made by an important Silvermith that has been in business since the early 18th century.
