Weight and measurements in pics. No issues, solid sterling with markings shown. Tom Dewitt (American, 1947-2021) Anglo Santa Fe artist Tom Dewitt is known for creating “old style silver pieces. He is inspired by silverwork from the 1880s-1940s. Toms work regularly is mistaken for being much older than it is. Tom has been creating retro-style jewelry for over four decades and sells his work in galleries around the country. Tom was born in Michigan and raised in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from Venice High in 1965. He began his silver- smith career directly after school while also working as a lighting technician for major venues in L.A. during the wave of the 1960‘s psychedelic rock & roll concerts. He eventually landed a job with Fox Studios working as an electrician for long-running TV series‘ such as M.A.S.H., Dragnet, The Love Boat, and others. He also worked on some big films; The Doors, Lonesome Dove, Natural Born Killers, The Missing, and others. He made frequent trips to Santa Fe starting when he was 21 to buy and sell jewelry, trade and pick up tools. He made New Mexico his home in the 1970s settling in Pojoaque as a silversmith also returning to L.A. for work in the movie and TV business. He was one of the original "Anglo Silversmiths" in New Mexico and a trader. He called his jewelry "old pawn while you wait" because it looked like the old Native American jewelry found in pawn shops. He had a special relationship with the Zuni Pueblo and revered the culture and artistic styles of the Native American silversmiths and artisans. He sold to major galleries in Santa Fe and had a line with Ralph Lauren in the early 2000s. He was extremely talented and people from all over the world collected his work. Bev is the daughter of revered Zuni artists Rosalie and Augustine Pinto. Bev continues her parents tradition of inlaid jewelry by producing jewelry in the same style as her elders. As she had learned from her parents she has been a teacher to her two sons Carl Etsate a fetish carver and Todd Etsate as well as her daughter Tracy Bowekaty, a jewelry maker who is also following in her mothers and grandparents paths. He remembers distinctly the first time he felt the metal in his hand and the creativity it inspired in him. "Jewelry," he explains, " is an inanimate object until it is worn and takes on the personality and life of the wearer." Each piece he designs is done with the idea that the piece is meant to bring life - the past, present and the future - to the wearer and he uses that imagery when designing his silver and gold pieces. Retro Robert Farrell Sterling sodalite post modernist bracelet 7" long bracelet, weight and measurements in pics. I believe these danglies were added by the last owner, it tooks great with them on but could be easily removed as the jump rings aren‘t soldered. I don‘t think the actual danglies are solid sterling. I don‘t believe the artist that made this bracelet would have used unsoldered jump rings as all of his work I have seen including this bracelet without the danglies is absolute perfection. One of the danglies is missing.I believe Robert made jewelry in the last quarter of the 20th century, I believe now his focus is Architectural sculptures which are fantastic. The quality of workmanship here is way above most studio jewelry in my opinion, I have a feeling it took him quite some time to creat each piece and that‘s why he went on to apply his skills in more No issues, weight and measurements in pics. Solid sterling. Diné silversmith Ike Wilson worked for many years for the Kelsey Trading Company at Zuni. He did silverwork for many of the Zuni lapidary artists including Ida Vacit Poblano. He often collaborated with his wife, Katherine Wilson. Navajo Nation artist Ike Wilson (1900-1942) would sign his creations with his bow and arrow hallmark. There has been some confusion in the past about the hallmark of Ike Wilson (1901-1942). It seems that sometimes his work was attributed to Austin Wilson. Both men were born in the same year and in a similar area of the reservation and both men worked at times for trader C. G. Wallace and the Kelsey Trading Company. Ike Wilsons work is signed with a bow and arrow. After his death in 1942, his wife Katherine Wilson (1907-1985) continued to use his hallmark. The bow and arrow hallmark was initially attributed to Ikes contemporary, Austin Wilson, but the corrected attribution was published in Messier, 2014.

I believe the previous owner paid $9500 for this bracelet about 25-30 years ago. High grade Godber is expensive. History of Godber-Burnham Turquoise The Godber mine, discovered in 1932, is located east of Austin, Nevada. First claimed under the name “Last Chance, it was later sold to Frank Burnham and then in 1934 to Walter Godber. It is said that during his short time owning the mine, he pulled out over "100,000" worth of turquoise, before selling it to Godber. Godber turquoise has been featured in the movie "The 10 Commandments" in the 50s, and was sold in Tiffany stores. The Godber mine was mined underground for the majority of its early years. Due to the miners chasing veins underground, you never know when you will run into an underground working where the turquoise has already been mined. The turquoise ranges from medium to dark blue, usually with a beautiful spider webbing. It has also been know for a very dark or black mottling forming, blotches and veins running through the stone. This mottling forms blotches and veins running through the stone that creates a impressive spiderweb appearance. Oscar Branson in his book, “Turquoise has called Godber ‘so hard and ‘some of the finest turquoise in Nevada‘. Godber has always been considered a very high quality turquoise and very collectible.

Orville Tsinnie (1943-2017) was a Navajo artist and master silversmith who has been featured in the American Indian art world for over 25 years. He was born in Tuba City, Arizona in 1943 and lived and worked in Shiprock, New Mexico. Tsinnie learned jewelry making from his Hopi brother-in-law in the 1970s and has since won many awards, including a Lifetime Achievement award from the Indian Arts and Crafts Association.

Vidal Aragon Santo Domingo sterling turquoise and coral overlay pendant, weight and measurements in pics. Nice older piece circa mid 20th century. From Santo Domingo Pueblo, Vidal Aragon (1923-2015) translated pueblo life into intricate storyteller jewelry. He became internationally renown for his inventive silver and gold overlay designs. His representations of the elements of nature, animals and pueblo life are symbolic of the Indian way. One symbol refers to “everlasting happiness. Other common motifs are animals and the tracks they make and the blessing and nourishment of corn. An expert craftsman, Aragon drew each story strip with his saw blade and soldered it to a textured oxidized underlayer to illuminate the images. He often incorporated a trademark gold disk to represent the sun or moon. Vidal Aragon learned the overlay technique in the 1930s when he was a student at the Santa Fe Indian School. Before inventing the storyteller jewelry, he experimented with tufa casting and other metalworking techniques. He briefly lived in Scottsdale where he honed his skills as a shop smith. He has fond memories of the time he spent learning ballet as a young man in Phoenix. By the early 1940s, Vidal was already being recognized alongside such prominent smiths as Ambrose Roanhorse and Tom Burnsides for his innovative yet classical designs. Aragon found his true calling though when he began to translate his rich sense of the pueblo way of life into wearable stories, often full of his unique humor.

c1820 Chinese Export porcelain US American Market Patriotic Eagle serving pieces. Both pieces with some damage. Some slight expected wear to gold/enamel. Smaller bowl 8 5/8" x 6 5/8" with old restorations of several small chips around the rim/associated overpainting just on rim. Larger footed bowl 11.25" x 8 3/8" x 2" deep with very tight/difficult to see 2" long hairline top left. I have my finger pointing to it in one pic as it was very difficult to show as it is to see in person. Selling both pieces.

Mitchell Sockyma Hopi overlay screw back earrings sterling. Solid sterling. Weight and measurements in pics. Mitchell Sockyma was born in Hopiland in 1942 and spent his childhood in the third Mesa village of Hotevilla. In 1973, he landed a job at the Hopi Crafts Shop, a workshop and studio new his home where his two older brothers were also silversmiths. Over the years, Mitchell has expanded his range of skills, including soldering 14k gold onto silver, which embellishes the traditional Hopi symbols he uses. As a member of the Corn Clan, his use of corn stalks is important, as is the Kokopelli, turtles, bear paws, and claws and wave designs. Unlike many other Hopi artists, he combines several of these design elements into one piece. He also incorporates brightly colored gemstones, natural turquoise, lapis and coral into the design. Considered one of the finest contemporary Hopi jewelers today, Mitchell has won numerous awards for his stunning pieces from the Northern Arizona Museum and Gallup, New Mexicos Annual Intertribal Ceremonial. He still resides with his family in Hopiland where he maintains a lifestyle in which art and beauty are intertwined with his Hopi religion and values in his everyday life.
