1922 Royal Copenhagen Rundskuedagen Vase Upside down Day
No damage whatsoever 6" tall.Rundskuedag is a Danish folk holiday during which everyone does things backwards or upside down. I have heard it translated as "Upside Down Day" but I often think of it as "Skewed 'Round Day" (a transliteration of Rund-skue-dag). Typically, bosses join the workers and one of the workers becomes the boss, and everybody has a good time doing things differently for one day of the year. Street entertainment is prevalent, and special events and sales are held to raise money for charity. Royal Copenhagen issued this series of vases as souvenirs of the day, with the proceeds going to charity. (Anyone with Danish ancestry who would like to expand or correct this description, please contact me!)The first Rundskuedagen vase was produced in 1910, and they continued every year through at least 1942. They were made in many shapes and sizes, often with a scene of a Copenhagen landmark on the vase, and always with the inscription RUNDSKUEDAG (or RUNDSKUEDAGEN) and the date. The designs are first molded into vase, and then handpainted, mostly in cobalt blue, in the same manner as Christmas plates. Some years are highlighted with additional colors.

c1830 John Ridgway Porcelain Reticulated Basket Centerpiece Compote Hand Painted
13.25"wide x 7.5" tall. No cracks, chips, or restorations. Incredible piece with
hand painted Gilding and decoration. Guaranteed circa 1830's.
Decoration possibly by Joseph Bancroft. In 1808 the brothers John and William
Ridgway jointed their father Job's factory at Cauldon Place, Hanley in
Staffordshire and in the same year the production of bone china was added to
that of earthenwares. The early Ridgway porcelains were in Spode style, with
quality, scenic bat-prints and some colourful designs in "London"- shape
tea-wares. In 1830 the two brothers separated. William Ridgway concentrated on
the production of earthenwares. John continued the Cauldon Place Works and was
later appointed Potter of Queen Victoria, making some magnificently decorated
porcelains. Around 1833 five hundred people were employed at the pottery, and
many talented artists were engaged in production of fine painted pieces, some of
which are believed to be the work of George Speight and Daniel Lucas, known for
their landscape and figure painting. Thomas Brentnall, George Hancock, and
Joseph Bancroft have also been employed, specializing in flower painting. John
Ridgway exhibited at the Great Exhibition of 1851 and their catalogue shows the
great variety and quality of the porcelain produced by the factory at this time.
In 1856 John Ridgway & Co. gave way to Ridgway, Bates & Co., to be followed on
John's retirement in 1858 by Bates, Brown-Westhead, Moore & Co and than from
December 1861 by Brown-Westhead, More & Co., a firm that continued until 1904.

Lamp repurposed from 1890's Flow Blue Wash Bowl and Pitcher Set "Dresden" Humphr
Well here it is! What you've always wanted but couldn't justify doing
financially or with a clear conscience. Someone did it for you about 50 years
ago. They did a good job it appears. Though I guess they had to drill the
pitcher. The pitcher is perfect otherwise with no cracks, chips, or
restorations. The bowl has a very tight crowsfoot on the base that doesn't go
through to interior. Both pieces have the expected crazing from 120 year old
earthenware. A couple worn glaze spots on rim of bowl, no chips or cracks. The
bowl is 15.75" wide, pitcher is 11.5" tall without brass hardware. Lamp and
switch work.

I'll include the shade if you want, but my main concern will be the careful
packaging of the bowl/pitcher. They will for sure reach you in the condition
they're currently in.

Guaranteed 18th century.

There is much damage to the applied Florals on both pieces. I believe there is a
very old professional restoration to his hat and her arm.

The pair is very heavy, 3.25 pounds.

The Chelsea porcelain manufactory (established around 1743-45) is the first
important porcelainmanufactory in England;[1] its earliest soft-paste porcelain,
aimed at the aristocratic market—cream jugs in the form of two seated goats—are
dated 1745. The entrepreneurial director was Nicholas Sprimont, a silversmith by
trade, but few documents survive to aid a picture of the manufactory's history.
Early tablewares, being produced in profusion by 1750, depend on Meissen
porcelain models and on silver prototypes, such as salt cellars in the form of
realistic shells.

Chelsea was known for its figures. From about 1760 its inspiration was drawn
more from Sèvres porcelainthan Meissen.

In 1769 the manufactory was purchased by William Duesbury, owner of the Derby
porcelain factory, and the wares are indistinguishable during the "Chelsea-Derby
period" that lasted until 1784, when the Chelsea factory was demolished and its
moulds, patterns and many of its workmen and artists transferred to Derby.
