Selling one with two available by changing qty, both in same condition with no damage or significant wear. 3" wide x 1.75" tall x 72 grams. No dents, bends, or other issues. Selling one with two available by changing qty.Charles Tiffany was born February 15, 1812 in Killingly, Connecticut. About 25 years later, in 1837, Charles Tiffany and John Young, and later in 1841, they added J.L.. Ellis as a partner, began Tiffany, Young and Ellis in Lower Manhattan. That company at the time was founded at first to sell fancy goods and stationery. Tiffany bought his parents shares of the company in 1853 and changed the focus of the company to sell upscale jewelry and merchandise. Once Tiffany bought his parent’s shares, the company was renamed to Tiffany & Co. In 1867, Tiffany & Co. was the first United States based company to win an award for excellence in silverware at the Exposition Universelle in Paris. In 1868, the company became incorporated, had four stores and was on the right path to continue to grow to the company that it is today.A Humble Start When Young and Tiffany began their business, they originally started off with offering items such as stationery and merchandise before moving on to offering jewelry and silverware. The business continued to grow and manufacture jewelry, and later opened a location in Paris. His stores adopted the standards of European jewelry and therefore, sterling became established in the United States and the American jewelry market.Tiffany was determined to obtain one-of-a-kind jewelry. It was that desire which helped fuel how much his products were sought out, specifically among the upper classes of New York. The jewelry created by the company became partially well known because of the wealthy people who desired its products. In the 1830’s, Tiffany made it’s mark in the jewelry world at the time because they clearly marked the prices on their goods. This eliminated the chance that customers would haggle and try to negotiate the prices of the goods that they were purchasing at the time. Additionally, Tiffany’s was unique at the time because they only accepted cash payments and didn’t allow their goods to be purchased on credit. With the Civil War threatening jewelry purchasing at the time, Tiffany adjusted the focus of his company and ended up manufacturing swords, medals, light armor and many other items that were needed for war. In 1877, Tiffany & Co. had become such an established name that it easily influenced the industry and was able to make outlandish purchases. This when the now called “Tiffany diamond” (a yellow South African diamond) was purchased for $18,000 at 287 carats. The diamond was cut down to 128.54 carats over nearly a year and was eventually put on display in the Smithsonian. Today, Tiffany & Co. is an American worldwide luxury jeweler and specialty retailer, headquartered in New York City.Understanding the Markings While Tiffany & Co. is famous for the “Tiffany diamond” they are even more famous for their use of sterling silver. When looking at actually sterling silver that is made by Tiffany’s there are several markings that can help you figure out the origin and if a piece is indeed made by Tiffany’s or fake. At the start, there were several silversmiths who supplied silver flatware and holloware to Tiffany’s. Each of those silversmiths marked the pieces with their own marks in addition to marking them with Tiffany’s marks. Some of the makes of Tiffany’s sterling silver include William Gale, Gale & Hughes, Wood & Hughes, John Polhemus, Henry Hebbard, William Bogert, Grosjean & Woodward, Moore & Hebbard and John C. Moore. In 1868, Moore silversmithing firm was absorbed into Tiffany & Co. and Tiffany’s then began the production of its own silver. It was at that time that the silver was to be marked with the initial of the Artistic Director or the initial of the President of the firm but that was continued until the mid-1960’s. Each design on the silver that Tiffany’s creates represents the long and proud heritage that comes with the company’s history.

c1890 Mt Washington Burmese Thomas Hood poem vase with rigaree. Absolutely perfect with no damage or restorations whatsoever, amazing one of a kind piece that belongs in a museum. 4" tall x 4 1/8" wide. MT. WASHINGTON AND PAIRPOINT GLASS Mt. Washington and its successor, the Pairpoint Corporation, was one of America’s longest-running luxury glass companies (1837-1957), one that rivaled its better known contemporaries, Tiffany and Steuben. It constantly reinvented and re-invigorated its business through creativity in texture, decoration, pattern, and color - developing a variety of styles and decorating techniques which were so technically complex that few are even practiced today. The Mt. Washington Glass Company was founded in South Boston in 1837, and moved to New Bedford, Massachusetts, in 1870. In 1880, Thomas J. Pairpoint, an English silversmith, was hired to run the Pairpoint Manufacturing Company, another company in New Bedford which Mt. Washington’s owners established to produce ornate silver-plated mounts for Mt. Washington glass. In 1894, the Pairpoint Manufacturing Company absorbed Mt. Washington, and the company was renamed the Pairpoint Corporation in 1900, which remained the company’s name until it went out of business in 1938. It was revived briefly as the Gundersen-Pairpoint Glass Company but closed permanently in 1957. The company’s most successful years were from 1880 (in the height of the opulent Gilded Age) to 1930 (the end of the exuberant Roaring Twenties). MT. WASHINGTON ART GLASS AND CUT GLASS Englishman Frederick Shirley was hired in 1872 to run Mt. Washington’s chandelier department, and two years later was put in charge of the entire company. Shirley was entrepreneurial and litigious, quick to adopt new designs and quick to complain if he thought any other firm was copying his wares. By the time he resigned in 1891, he had amassed a total of 27 patents and five design patents for various types of glass, most of which were quite successful. In 1885, Shirley introduced Burmese glass, a translucent glass that shaded from yellow to pink, which was highly decorated in the elegant and sophisticated style characteristic of the day. It became an immediate success on the Art Glass market. Shirley was a good businessman and took advantage of the dawning age of advertising to promote Burmese glass extensively. Mt. Washington’s large decorating shop specialized in enameling. The decorators who worked on Burmese glass also applied their skills to a variety of other decorated glasses with exotic names like Royal Flemish, Crown Milano, Colonial, and Pearl Satin Ware. By 1890, the company was advertising itself as “Headquarters in America for Art Glass Wares.” isshelf

1993 David Lotton Leaf and Vine Art glass vase 7.75" tall with no cracks, chips, restorations, or wear. Signed David Lotton 1993 Leaf and Vine. The inside of this vase is iridescent. DAVID LOTTON David Lotton is a second generation American glassblower. He is the oldest son of Charles Lotton and was introduced to the world of glassblowing at a very young age. In 1970, Charles started building a furnace and began blowing pieces of glass from melted down pop bottles in a shed behind their house. David was there in this infancy and he was Charles first assistant at the age of ten. David has vivid memories of his childhood working in the shop with his father. When most children were playing childhood games he was spending time after school and on the weekends helping him at the bench. By the age of 14 he started learning how to do finishing work, polishing the bottom of the glass flat. David eventually followed in his fathers' footsteps and by the age of 15 began making paperweights. That ignited a passion to begin glass blowing. David has been creating his one of a kind vessels since 1978. His unique handcrafted works are designed with precise attention to detail. Developing his own glass formulas, David has created a complex palette of colors, giving him the ability to create his multi-layering and sculpting style. Each year David continues to study and refine the techniques he uses in creating his art. David's Clematis Reflection Series, Hollyhock Paperweight Series and Mixed Bouquets Series all reflect his floral patterns which capture his love for detail. He combines color and layering to create depth and beauty. His Organic Sculptures reflect movement and rich hues of a summer sunset. David is inspired by all nature. He has a successful ranch in the hills of Kentucky where he is inspired to evolve, change, and grow continually. He commutes back and forth to fulfill both loves. tw274

These are not just two signed copies of this book, these are from the Garrison Family and include all the legal paperwork, things submitted towards the publishing of the book, etc. I really didn't have time to look through it all but it's all important. These have to be the two most important copies of this book in existence I would think. Below is the bio of the estate they came from and it's significance. Both books with slight wear to dust jackets overall good, with all the paperwork included, not all of it shown. Garrison Brothers Honored Nathan Smith, Staff Writer February 10, 2012 Homer and Pitser Garrison, brothers and graduates of LHS, were honored by the Lufkin High School Alumni Associtation (LHSAA), for their distinct service to Lufkin and the state of Texas.Texas Rangers, family members, and friends including Reba Garrison, wife of Pitser Garrison and Tommie Garrison West, niece of the brothers, and Mayor Jack Gorden gathered in the Honor Hall as the Rangers dedicated a framed piece with two pictures found by Ranger Rayburn as he was doing research about the Garrisons. The Rangers gave a presentation in memory of Homer Garrison’s life and read through his achievements as a law enforcement officer.Homer Garrison, who lived from 1901 to 1968, served as the Texas Ranger Chief and the first director of the Texas Department of Public Safety. He began his law enforcement career at age 19, after being appointed as a deputy-sheriff in Angelina County. His father told him he would never get anywhere in that “dead end job”, but Homer continued to work at the job and became a state license and weight inspector for the Texas Highway Department and joined the Texas Highway Patrol when it was organized in 1930.In 1935, the Texas Highway Patrol and the Texas Rangers were placed under the same director, and the Texas Department of Public Safety was created. Homer Garrison Jr. was named as the first Assistant Director, and was tasked with training new DPS officers. His opportunities did not stop there, however. At the request of the governor of New Mexico, Homer was sent to help with the organization of the New Mexico State Police. He was even offered a position by Gen. Douglas MacArthur to structure Japan’s new police system, but declined so that he could stay with the Rangers an the DPS. Eventually, Homer Garrison Jr. went on to become the director of the DPS and took his position as chief of the Rangers. Under his leadership, many new and groundbreaking programs were created for the organization, and by the time of his death, the organizations themselves emerged as one of the most powerful and efficient police forces in America. Instead of choosing law enforcement like his older brother, Pitser Garrison chose a life of public political service in Lufkin and throughout the state of Texas. Pitser attended Lon Morris College and the University of Texas Law School where he graduated in 1935. He served as a senior partner at the J.J. Collins law firm for almost 30 years, before becoming president of the Lufkin National Bank. In 1970, Pitser Garrison became the mayor of Lufkin until his resignation in 1988, and he served for 18 years, longer than any other Lufkin mayor. Pitser was renowned for his hometown pride and his leadership skills during his career. He possessed a particular charisma and intellect and knew how to get things done. “Before Pitser, the local Lufkin government was in a very unstable shape,” mayor Gorden said. “It was not uncommon to have a new city manager every few years. But he changed that. He brought a stability and a sense of unity to the Lufkin government.” The character of each brother was just as much memorialized as the achievements they had while serving others. “Homer was a glowing man with a real gift for working with people,” added his niece, Tommie West. “He just had a way of motivating you and making you feel good about yourself.” And like his older brother, Pitser also had a way with people, and his kindness is still remembered by those close to him. “Pitser was just the nicest man. He had a booming voice that could really get you,” said Reba Garrison, laughing. “Everybody looked up to him, everybody respected him, and he deserved it.” These and other related items I'll be listing shortly are from the estate of multiple descendants of Homer Garrison Jr. GARRISON, HOMER, JR. (1901-1968). Homer Garrison, Jr., Texas Ranger chief and director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, son of Homer and Mattie (Milam) Garrison, was born in Kickapoo, Anderson County, Texas, on July 21, 1901, the eldest of nine children. After graduation from Lufkin High School he went to work in the office of his father, who was district clerk in Angelina County. Garrison received his first experience as a law officer at nineteen, when was appointed a deputy sheriff of Angelina County. In 1929 he became a state license and weight inspector for the Texas Highway Department, and he joined the Texas Highway Patrol when it was organized in 1930. When the Department of Public Safety was founded in August 1935 Garrison became the first assistant director. Among his initial duties was the task of developing a training program for DPS officers. At the request of the governor of New Mexico, he was sent to that state to help organize the New Mexico State Police. During World War II he was offered an appointment by Gen. Douglas MacArthur to reorganize and supervise the Japanese national police system for the War Department, but he declined in deference to his duties as director of the DPS and chief of the Texas Rangers. Among the many honors bestowed upon him during the nearly thirty years he served as the head of the state law-enforcement agency was the presentation of the sixth Paul Gray Hoffman Award, conferred annually by the Automotive Safety Foundation for distinguished service in highway safety. In 1963 Governor John Connally appointed Garrison director of civil defense and disaster relief for the state of Texas and chairman of the State Defense Council. The same year the governor also named him director of the Governor's Highway Safety Commission. In May 1966 he was elected chairman of the resolutions committee and a member of the steering committee of the Southern Region Highway Policy Committee of the Council of State Governments; in January 1967 he was named a member of the National Motor Vehicle Safety Advisory Council. Colonel Garrison became director of the Department of Public Safety and chief of the Texas Rangers in 1938. Under his leadership numerous major programs were developed, and the organization grew to a total of some 3,400 employees. The programs included crime control, police traffic supervision, driver licensing, vehicle inspection, safety responsibility, accident records, safety education, defense and disaster service, and police training. Garrison married Mary Nell Kilgore on June 1, 1939, and they had one son. Garrison died on May 7, 1968, and was buried in the State Cemetery, Austin. A Texas Ranger museum at Fort Fisher was named for him. BIBLIOGRAPHY: Ben Procter, "The Texas Rangers: An Overview," in The Texas Heritage, ed. Ben Procter and Archie P. c1978 Frank Patania Jr Southwestern modernist sterling bolo with turquoise and 100 peso Mexican coin. Bolo is 94 grams without the box of course. Comes with original Thunderbird shop box (3 out of 4 corners are split on box top. Bolo slide is 2.5" tall x 2 3/8" wide 38" long. I think this piece had to have been made in 1978, the year the coin was issued, a year or two later at the most. The training Frank Jr. received was a breath of fresh air in the history of contemporary American craft. To understand the importance of this instruction, one must look to Frank Sr., who came to America with his experience of the apprenticeship system from Italy in the wake of the Industrial Revolution. This had a lasting effect on the handmade tradition. Mass production became apart of everyday life. The need for the services of skilled, educated artisans declined, as did the apprenticeship programs that trained them. It was accepted that mass production pieces were in general of better quality than what most people could make. Many craftsmen were forced to close shop and join in the factory ranks as designers. The effect of mass production on jewelry design is evident with a glance of any "Sears and Roebuck" catalogues of the early 20th century. Since these products were being made for the masses, designs were often "dumbed down", reflecting "safe" motifs repeatedly rooted in past trends. Reproduction became the national aesthetic. There were however, "pockets" within the United States that were exceptions. The Kalo Shops and Roycrofter, for example, were teaching apprenticeship programs, but they were small factors compared to the overwhelming impact of mass production.Like many first generation American children, Frank Jr. was encouraged to follow a formal education. Interestingly, he did not choose applied arts, but rather American History, with a minor in Anthropology. Reflecting on his choices, he believes his father would have thought a degree in applied arts would have been "a waste of time," because nothing could compare to the crafts education he had already imparted to his son.By the time Frank Jr. joined the shop full-time, the climate towards crafts had undergone a major change. Postwar America witnessed an explosion in the development of architecture, industrial design, and the handcrafts. For the first time in decades, craft was enjoying a newfound appreciation, much of which was due to en masse support of craftsmen through universities and crafts schools. An indication of the health of the contemporary jewelry movement can be seen in the surge of important exhibitions during the 40s and 50s. The Museum of Modern Art in NYC took an important step by promoting the first major exhibition of contemporary jewelry in 1946. Magazines like Design Quarterly and Craft Horizon (now American Craft) devoted full sections to design and contemporary jewelry.By the 1950s, a number of people were making contemporary jewelry on a professional scale. That same year, The American Craft council held its first conference, attended by over 450 crafts men and women from 30 states. During the three day conference they addressed many concerns of the young craftsman, including: 1) the craftsmen's relationship to society in economics and social aesthetics; 2) design importance as it related to techniques; and 3) problems in professional practices in the small business. While many young craftsmen in the United States were just addressing these issues for the first time, The Thunderbird Shop of Tucson and Santa Fe had already found resolution in regards to these problems and had implemented them in to a system that allowed the creativity of the shop to flourish while maintaining financial success.Today, Frank, Jr. and his wife Donna travel between Tucson and Santa Fe. Frank, Jr. says he is grateful for the life he has been given, acknowledging his joy in being able to do what his loves for a living and finally arriving at a place in which he can create the pieces he chooses without the pressures of the market. (Fig 25-27) He looks to his son, Sam, to carry on the family name and traditions, recognizing the struggle of a young designer with a family and the pressures to meet payroll while still maintain ones own inimitable style.

I will be offering a very large<br>collection of these that was assembled in the 60's-80's, a large percentage are<br>from the first quarter of the 20th century, some perhaps a bit older. The ones<br>that are more recent are of exceptional quality. Some have tags identifying<br>them, some of the tags are missing or have been degraded over time.<br><br>I won't have time to discuss the character of each mask, but I'll make sure to<br>take good, accurate photos, and as stated you'll get the mask shown in the<br>condition shown, with approximate age stated. They will be safely stored until<br>sold so I won't really be able answer any specific questions, I'll give the<br>measurements of each one when listing. And I apologize in advance for my lack of<br>cultural awareness if I happen to call a central/south American mask a Mexican<br>mask.<br>It's just there are a lot of masks and very little time, and while I think each<br>and every one of them is absolutely fabulous or I wouldn't waste my time<br>photographing them....I would rather spend the time I could spend learning the<br>history of each character making sure they are packaged well enough to fall off<br>the truck, get ran over a few times...and still make it to you intact.

Mr. Avery believed that meaning is what makes life more beautiful<br>and this concept continues to drive how we design jewelry to this day. In 2007,<br>53 years after he first founded the company, James Avery officially stepped down<br>as CEO and passed the reins on to his sons, Chris and Paul.<br><br>Mr. Avery’s mission was simple: to create jewelry with meaning—both for himself<br>and others. With a focus on creating straightforward designs and a core belief<br>of integrity in all things, his jewelry became more than precious metals and<br>gemstones. Guests came to him with their stories—their special moments—so he<br>could craft them into pieces they would wear with pride for a lifetime. I will be offering a very large collection of<br>these that was assembled in the 60's-80's, a large percentage are from the first<br>quarter of the 20th century, some perhaps a bit older. The ones that are more<br>recent are of exceptional quality. Some have tags identifying them, some of the<br>tags are missing or have been degraded over time.<br><br>I won't have time to discuss the character of each mask, but I'll make sure to<br>take good, accurate photos, and as stated you'll get the mask shown in the<br>condition shown, with approximate age stated.

Antonio Pineda (1919-2009) Los Castillo Modernist space age sterling cufflinks 1 5/16" x .75" face, 24.7 grams.Pineda is one of two living members of the Taxco School and is recognized as a world-class designer and a Mexican national treasure.   Pineda’s jewelry is especially known for its elegant acknowledgment of the human form. It is often said that a Pineda fits the body perfectly, that it feels right when it is worn. So, for example, a thick geometric necklace that might at first glance seem too weighty or rigid to wear comfortably is, in fact, faceted, hinged, or hollowed in such a way that it gracefully encircles the neck or drapes down the décolletage.  In addition, no other taxqueño jeweler used as many costly semiprecious stones or set them with as much ingenuity, skill, and variety as did Pineda. Only the most talented of silversmiths could master.
